More quotes from MoPo :

Pochettino said: “We can make a lot of excuses. Psychological block? Maybe I can say yes, but it’s not true.

“In football, you need to feel freedom to play. Tell me one place better to play football than here, with its history. This is where football was born and it was in front of 85,000 people. I’m a little bit ashamed, it’s embarrassing for me.

“We cannot blame Wembley. Wembley was fantastic for me, I enjoy coming here a lot. We need to show more, we were poor again.

“We need to find answers. It’s not because we are playing in a bigger stadium with 85,000 fans, we need to be critical of our performance. We were the problem, not Wembley. Please stop trying to blame Wembley.”

Now I hate Wembley even more

Just got home. Jesus that was a terrible performance, one of the worst I've seen in a long time.
I'm worried for Sunday. We lack at times any urgency and most of the time any creativity. The first 20mins were painful - ball in midfield, back to defence back to Lloris, to back 4, to Lloris then punted out of play or upfield where one of their players won the ball and the sorry display played out again.
Sissoko....where to start???? Awful. The few times he took it past a defender were due to good luck rather than skill. Seeing the ball rattling between his own legs then running straight into a defender :banghead:
Hated this game, I really don't like moaning at a game but fuck me that was terrible.
I'll be watching the game Sunday from behind the sofa:nailbiting:

Interesting thought

Glen Hoddle: 'Since young players were given long contracts they're too comfortable and have taken their foot off the pedal.'
Eriksen, Alli and Dier, that certainly rings true about the 3 of them. Eriksen has been on-existent (I've got big questions about his mentality and whether or not he is too weak to step up and be the man), Dier who is making a meal out of so many basic things and doesn't seem to be playing with aggression of last year (England hangover?), whereas Alli other than his goals hasn't really got going yet.

I wonder if sissoko has problems with his eyesight. 3 or 4 times tonight a ball was coming through the air right to him, and he completely misread it and headed fresh air. To keep completely missing the ball can't be normal.

Not long home. Wish I hadn't bothered. An awful performance from start to finish.

Yes, we're missing our two best players, but we should at least be able to pass the ball competently.

For the first time in a while I think I may swerve watching the game on Sunday and save myself the stress.

Quotes from Lloris :

And Llloris was left extremely frustrated by his team’s performance which sees Spurs drop to third place in Group E.

“Yeah, very disappointed, very frustrated – maybe a bit upset too – because it is difficult to accept that kind of performance from us,” Lloris told talkSPORT.

“It was difficult to recognise our team. We are used to being very aggressive and very calm under pressure, but today it was the complete opposite.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have picked up a single victory in their last seven games and have suffered with injuries to key players such as Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld.

Lloris dismissed Spurs’ problems were solely down to the absence of the duo, but rather down to a lack of awareness in a crucial encounter for the north London side’s chances of progressing to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

“We cannot only depend on one or two players that we are missing at the moment. But we need to think as a team, we need to be united and in football there are ups and downs.

“But it is difficult because this game was very important and I didn’t feel that we were really aware about that. Because Leverkusen didn’t play a great game, they were just well organised and they had a few chances because of us, because we made too many mistakes.

“We failed, and it was difficult to keep a balance on the pitch. But we win together and we lose together and we need to learn quickly because there is a big, big game on Sunday.
This is what's bugging me and I presume everyone else. We've once again made a decent team look really good. We simply haven't turned up in this tournament and I wouldn't be suprised if some of the opposition fans weren't scratching their heads thinking "I thought this lot were supposed to be good?"

We haven't looked remotely like anything of last season. The hunger seems to be missing.

Dreadful game, was expecting a really fast start but the mood was set in the first 10 minutes. We look so slow, started with the same false number 9 that worked against City but we just didn't press, a lot of Eriksen bashing but when he did get on the ball we had no options going forward, no runners no one showing, then it goes backwards. Son seems to have gone back to looking lost The summer business is looking increasingly woeful, Janssen needs to do more than neat hold up play! Even Soldado got shots away (normally high and wide)
As for Sissoko Id have rather kept Chadli
Poch has a lot to answer for on tonight's showing

Not in the mood for articulate analysis. Just got back from Wembley....

WHAT THE F@$K WAS THAT????

Didn't press them effectively - in fact they pressed up high up exactly like we usually do. Passing was abysmal - no tempo to out play. Players looked tired, off the pace, uninterested and lacking any fight at all.

Sissoko can't play whatsoever - just runs into people and hopes the ball ricochets his way. NEVER seen a £30m player.with so little technical ability.

We didn't even have any urgency in the break when we had numerical advantage.

Utter, unmitigated RUBBISH!

Worried about the NLD - thats one of the worst performances Ive ever struggled though - and I remember the late nineties under Francis! Honestly haven't been that angry during a match since Jason Dozzel and Tramezzani were in the side!!

Sort it out Poch - because that was UTTER SHITE!!!

I'll get stick but I Didn't think much of the fans tonight tbh. Where I was (Upper tier above the Leverkusen fans) it was quiet throughout and you had people start to go on 65 mins when they scored and from the 75th it was a steady stream.

I know all the reasons - it's a chore getting out, particularly at Wembley Park, some have trains to get after that and it will be a late night, some have kids, the team weren't giving us much to get behind - I get it, they're legitimate, and of course a paying fan can choose when they leave. However it was a time tonight where I think, whatever shit we were seeing on the pitch, we needed to get behind the team a bit with some support. I don't think either game at Wembley we really have in all truth.

Shameful and embarrassing.
We look a completely different team from last year. Really poor quality throughout.
This season, at best, we have looked like a bunch if hard working labourers and hod carriers. But without skilled bricklayers and craftsmen we are unable to create anything.. The first touch of our players, all of them, tonight was abysmal and so we gave away a number of niggly fouls as we tried to muscle our way back in. Sissoko I have no idea why he is even on the pitch; he looks over weight, can't control a ball or pass or shoot or cross or tackle or anything. But then I could go through all the players.

We,badly need Toby, Lamela, Kane and Danny Rose back. They are the heart and soul of the team; they create our forward momentum, they also up the skill levels incredibly.

Oh and you can't play three lumps like Dembele, Wanyama and Sissoko in one team .... Well maybe in a tug of war team

Gunna be tough but I still fancy our chances going through.

CKSA are even more dire than us, and I fancy us to put in a good shift against Monoco with Kane/Toby ect, back fit.

That said, Sunday could be rough.

What happened with our bid for the younger Dembele? We got the wrong Moussa, the Sissoko version: he displays no finesse, whatsoever.

All true, except the comments about Wanyama and Dembele. Wanyama was our best player.
