...we need to learn to attack the ball in the box, both offensively and defensively - I've never seen a team stand around and watch like today...

What did he say?

Mourinho was quick to praise Tottenham and their manager Mauricio Pochettino after the match as well.

He said: 'I'm really happy. I think I should start by talking about Tottenham and about Mauricio, because they are a fantastic team.

'He's building a great team, they gave us a very difficult match and I feel sorry for them. He (Pochettino) is doing a fantastic work and is having a great evolution in his career.'

I have to say in terms of quality I thought it was a poor final with barely anything from either team created. Inside Wembley, Chelseas fans were a joke (2 I spoke to on the train even said as much themselves) and didn't open their mouths and sing until they were 2 up, even then they were outsung.
Spurs fans were immense, both inside and in Wembley Way despite police being a little OTT if anyone had a can outside the ground.

How mediocrity is so willingly accepted by our support is embarrassing. Lets have it right we had 63% of possession yesterday, and 62% of it the other night, yet ended up losing 2-0 whilst creating the square root of sod all in the process. Both occasions the opposition knew just to sit back, hit us on the counter whilst knowing our defence would gift them a chance as they are a utter shambles. 2 clean sheets in the last 15, 1 of them at home to a League 1 side, tells you all you need to know about our defence.

In pursuit of the 3rd rated trophy in this country against 1 of the best teams in Europe, where also the reward is EL qualifying rounds, we have slammed the door shut on the FA cup (24 years since we won it) and the EL (CL spot for winners). Winning the league was out of the question so why not keep your options open? Oh well we still got the 4th place cup race to look forward to eh......

p.s. People patting themselves on the back because of our support yesterday, that should be a given not something celebrated because I like others sang up.

This is sort of how I feel too - we looked utterly impotent yesterday. Chelsea set up smartly to nullify Kane and Eriksen, meaning that we couldn't really do anything. When they're not performing, we don't have an effective system implemented that we can use. Mainly i'm just a bit gutted that a season that was looking quite promising a couple of weeks ago is just petering out with a little whimper.

Has anybody seen the Metro this morning? Their match ratings are the weirdest thing i've ever seen: Soldado got a 7. Bentaleb got a 4. WTF.

He said the same when they beat us earlier this season and fuck all when we won 5-3

You mistake mediocrity with transition and progress, I'm not happy with our recent results but I appreciate that we are not halfway along the road to where I firmly believe we are headed. When you have 63% of posession and mostly in the opponents half you are ready to work on the next step to overcome the packed defence.
I feel your pain sunnydelight' but its not like you to lose the positives.

It wasnt a great final

Certainly tactically Chelski were prepared to play fairly conservatively deep and counter attack because that is how you can beat Spurs Give us room and we are capable of exploiting the chance

It is a backhanded compliment but Chelski are not the only team to play like that against us

I feel that we do not have a particularly talented squad and it is a case of back to basics with the regime we have in place. Not long ago people were complaining we did nt look as though we had made progress under MoPo. We seem to have taken the first step but have not reached the goal of being one of the best 4 sides.

It will take the rest of this season and a few summer buys to get more improvement We are in a slow overhaul and realistically weren't good enough to gain a top 4 place or win any of the FA Cup, League Cup or El We are good also rans.

The season has been kept interesting and hopefully we will finish the season like we finish many games stronger than the other teams.

Time to reprise the season is at the end though

Overall I thought we played well and it was just the usual last third that let us down. Kane had vey little support and Chelsea pinned him down well. I don't agree the ref was against us I thought he had a good game and gave us a lot of decisions that were fifty fifty, but then every time we lose a lot on here blame the ref and think it's a conspiracy.
Those that think we will offload a lot of players in the summer are delusional. We will, or at least levy will ask to much and we will be stuck with them.. Townsend in the summer was a glaring example, Southampton offered 10 mil and levy turned it down, personally I thought that was a fair price. However he only offered 12 mil for shneiderlin. So on that basis we are stuck with what we have or at least the majority of them and will have to hope one or two youngsters come on and the others get better.
Those on here that say we have to get rid of 6 or 7 players and bring in 3 or 4 forget it it's not going to happen.

We've gone from having people being scared of our wingers in Bale/Lennon (at his peak) to having teams not scared of our wide players at all. As a few others have mentioned, crowd out the middle where Eriksen and Kane operate and we're basically screwed. Our wingers rarely produce. Chadli had a decent spell at the end of 2014 but has been struggling since and doesn't offer much when not scoring.

Poch needs to do something either swapping Townsend and Chadli onto their natural sides , playing some wingers from the youth team, or using a system that doesn't use wide forwards at all.

My thoughts on the game watching the match on TV here in Norway. We lost the game via two deflected goals. Both goals where results of poor defending. First goal, Chadli gave away a cheap free kick in a dangerous area. This situation was avoidable and why Chadli did not put up a better fight against the cheatski full back, only he knows. He looked like he was afraid of hurting himself and did not seek any real body contact with the cheatski fullback, just with his arm in a "girly way" it was awful to watch and this is not the first time I have noticed this with him during the season. If you are going to use your arm in these situation, do it the cheatski way, so the referee and linesmen do not notice. The defending from that cross was awful as well.

Second goal Walker defended poorly, first he was not close enough to Costa and secondly I want players to defend with a desire, "defend at all cost attitude" but Walker left the field first half injured so it might have influenced the situation? I don't know. Luck or unlucky both situations which cheatski scored from should not have been happening in the first place. Good teams create their own luck. Spurs where the best team in the first half, but in the second half we only created half chances. So we can all dwell on if Eriksens free kick had gone in but it is a waste of time. If Spurs has learned anything from the last week it must be take our chances and defend with concentration and desire, if not, you gonna get punished.

We weren't at all bad in the first half but the difference between the squads in experience and tactics was painfully obvious.

I've deliberately not watched any highlights but just catching sight of them with the trophy on the news really hurt and will haunt me.

Let's just finish the season well and look forward to the next. We have improved under MoPo but he still has a lot of work to do with the team and I have to remind myself we are a work in progress.

Walker was still hobbling around at the start of the second half so I'd say it was a big factor, personally.

Its easy to say that when he has won but would he have been so kind if he had lost Im not so sure.

MoPo is 43 today.

I hope he will have a good day and know that we appreciate him getting us to a final after such a short time with Spurs.

I wish the FA would do something about Mourinho's moaning about the officials. It definitely had an affect on the game yesterday. Fabregas should have been booked early on, as should Costa and any time a Chelsea player went down he gave them a free kick. It's ridiculous that a club manager has been able to publicly bully referees in this way.

You'd think we'd won, I've been walking around whistling the "everywhere we goooo" chant all morning.

I'm not feeling bad in anyway about the result, we're a young and inexperienced team, playing in their first Wembley final, against a bunch of experienced masters of the dark arts of football. I'm happy that we never gave up and were still pushing forwards in the last minutes, and that our fans utterly owned the stadium.

I'm a proud Spurs fan today, and I'm genuinely looking forward to the rest of the season and what Pochettino will do in the summer.
