Just been reading through some of this thread particularly after the second goal and its interesting to see some nervousness, funnily enough at the match it was pretty cool.
Our defenders were so in control of themselves they seemed almost casual, I guess maybe it didn't come across well on the Tele buy any loose ball in the box we cleared without any snatching at the ball at all.
When they announced four minutes added time the guy next to me said they could make it forty and this lot still wouldn't score, and he was right.
Ten minutes to go White Hart lane was up and partying,
la la la lalalalaa you're shit
My wife was sitting next to me knitting and commented that she was knitting nervously because of the obvious anxiety in the closing twenty minutes of the game

Yeah, but its ridiculous - always turning a blind eye to what the top Clubs spend on wages.
Well look at Trump and Brexit - we are living in the age of post-truth, facts don't matter, it's all about controlling the daily news cycle, and the narrative.

When I looked at the stats, they had more shots and I was struck by the fact that I don't remember all but maybe two of them. And as I rewatched the highlights, it's because they were shots made in desperation due to our defensive control...so "technically" shots......but not really

You've seen that?

Haven't we basically won against every freshly promoted side (like Middlesbrough) for the last few years running?

I think @Shadydan is right about this fan mentality. It's gotten to the point where I think some are hallucinating.

I don't think I am hallucinating. We have on numerous occasions beaten our rival or drew and the next game where we have a chance to make up even more ground, we slip. Typically vs a side we should dominate. I know this is the PL and no team should be taken lightly.

For example:

2016-2017

Beat Man City 2-0, then Draw West Brom and Bournemouth to go from second to 5th, when we could have gone 1st.

I know there are a lot of factors at play, but I picked middlesborough as a name not an example and the point is our next game is just as important as city, the scum and the rest of our top 4 comp. Cause we show up to the games against the big sides and have shown less intensity in the following games. We can't allow that to happen if being named champions is the goal.

No hallucinations there in my book and something that numerous people have talked about here on these boards.

After watching the game again, I have to say that is the best performance I have seen from Dembele/Wanyama.

Defensively it became a CM2 and because of them the likes of Hazard, Costa, and Pedro couldn't get involved as much as they like.

I have watched a lot of Chelsea this year and they do use their FBs well, but not as much as us. They are more central in attack then we generally are and due to the beasts we had manning the midfield it worked.

This analysis is coming from me, the anti-Dembele/Wanyama dude. Today it worked perfectly due to their counter attacking ways. Not the formation I would go with every day but against the big guys it worked.

Saw a few fans stating on social media that we pass it back too much during last night's performance.

It was a very clever way of drawing Chelsea out and stretching them when they were parking the bus. Suddenly, space was available and we were able to manoeuvre more freely. I would imagine Poch probably instructs them to do this - instead of hitting a 50/50 ball, taking a risk taking on two players etc in which we could concede possession back to them.

I found it quite humorous watching Chelsea defending solidly but for their shape to then be stretched by a passback as they began to push forward over our halfway line. It was a bit like "rebooting " the field of play. Felt like we were tactically toying with them. With each of our centre backs being great with the ball...the risk is minimal. Anyone else notice this?

Sorry, but he let Moses off multiple fouls, several which could of warranted a yellow card, on another day he would of been sent off.

I went through the match thread last night (after watching the game) and saw people raging non-stop about this - didn't see any of these tackles myself

When you play against 3 at the back your striker is always going to have two opposition centre halves in close proximity and one to cover runs ( Azpilecueta). I don't think Chelsea gave Kane any special treatment then they would to any other striker.
I just don't think Kane influenced the goals and didn't have a great game.

But oh well we disagree and I'll leave it as that now as I feel stupid giving criticism after a big win!

Not stupid, you just see it differently.

However, as a final offering, I'll compare how their back 3 treated Kane with how ours treated Costa. Only once were Chelsea able to exploit any space amongst out back 3 and that was Hazard in the first 5 minutes. After that, the back 3 retained their positional discipline, holding their shape despite Costa's movement. Basically each one picked him up as he moved into their "area of influence." Hazard, Moses, Willian, Matic, none of them were able to exploit space because Costa wasn't given any "special treatment." Now this may be due to our defenders showing a little more discipline than theirs but, considering the fact that Kane was swarmed as soon as the ball came near him throughout the entire match, I believe it was a tactical decision to nullify his threat. It backfired because Alli is bang in form.

It must be ancient. I've been on here 5/6 years and still don't get it :(

It was just one of those things that was funny if you were there. I caught the end of it, and know what it was about and probably had a chuckle but missed it really. It's a bit like blaming Jenas.

The 'you're shit' chant at the end made us chuckle here at home.

One of the few times I think it was utterly justifiable. Not because I believe they're shit, but because they'd have been gnawing on their own livers hearing it.

In all honesty, I think we have one of the best fan bases around for taking the piss out of the opposition. Whilst this might not be the most original, some of our pisstakes, and in particular the timing of them, is second to none.

After the "2-0 and you fucked it up" chants directed at us last night, I propose a chant of "13 and you fucked it up" next time we play them. :)
