That being said, if we are going to play this flawed system, I'd rather Chiri and Bentaleb than Dier and Dembele but I'd be staggered with the Everton side out that they don't carve us open when we lose possession cheaply.

lets be honest. most people decided they were going to complain about the lineup well before it was announced

Yep. And whoever was selected you'd get the predictable comments of...I'm worried, suicide...

Unless our squad has miraculously changed over the course of the night what the fuck are people expecting?

Like Linford Stambouli is going to make all the difference.

People react to the team sheets they see put out. Go back and read other match threads where there was heavy criticism for Poch's selections before the game and more times than not, all of the criticism was completely warranted, and validated by the performances.

That team sheet is playing two young players in a CM2 who don't really score goals, or create clear cut chances, and aren't particularly great defensively. You have Lennon on the right, who can't score goals, and has been in poor form for over 14 months. Mix in Soldado's off form, Kane requiring service, and you have Christian Eriksen on his own as the person who we need to rescue us again.

Mason and Bentaleb have the potential to become a great partnership. They'll make mistakes but it'll be worth it in the long run imo

So we're opting for 2 right backs in Soldado and Chic, 2 Left backs in Lennon and Davies with Mason and Bentaleb chasing shadows in our defensive third while we pray Fazio doesn't get sent off and Kane produces a miracle.

Nice!

I just fancied Dembele, Mason and Bentaleb would work more defensively against their midfield. We need a result today but I would not want him near the team if we were on a good run in the EPL
The midfield today is my ideal midfield only swapping Andros for Lennon.

We need to survive today. Everton are no joke and we're still a team low on confidence, especially at home and are very shaky defensively at the moment.

Context today please, folks. Everton are a very good team coming off of a hot win in the EL and climbing up the prem table and they are not afraid of us one bit and know we are weak regardless of martinez's faux biggin' up of poch and our squad.

They fancy this and will go for it.

Draw is a good result for us today. A win will take a hell of a lot to go our way.

Right let's be optimistic, Barry and Baines will be rusty after injury, Etoo playing behind a striker or wide doesn't suit him. If we play positive and at a high tempo we'll test Besic who isn't settled too well yet and isn't first choice if McCarthy is fit. What do you reckon??!!

Like that lineup. We've been shocking so why not switch up the MF? Honestly can't get any worse.

Like seen Vlad at right back. Thought he did well when he came on there last week.

Think we might sneak a win!

That side is hilarious. Where have we gone from 4 years ago?

Our record signing can't make the starting line up behind Lennon, our captain is on the bench, our best defender hasn't given a shit for about 16 months, our 2 central midfielders are both youngsters without a full season between them and an extra from the Inbetweeners at right back.

I full expect a comprehensive defeat and it saddens me to say that. That line up is just so woefully average. Not sure apart from Lloris and Eriksen I'd swap any of our players for theirs in the starting XI

Not too mention the shower of shite and tens of millions of "talent" that can't make the squad

Sorry, Im not sure? Are you for or against the line up?

Do you think we should have put Mackay and Hoddle in? Maybe see how they handle Ginola down the left.

Surely you are not bemoaning Capoue and Paulinho not forming the heart of our midfield?

Good team they are, but lets not pretend they're Bayern tinky :)

If Lukaku has one of his better days I'll concede it could get ugly but it probably won't be as bad as people are making out.
