As others have said the fullbacks were faultless. When was the last time we could say that?
Lamela was my man of the match. Some wrong decisions but here is a Tottenham legend in the making. What surprised me seeing him live was the chasing down and pressing he did for ninety minutes. As did the whole midfield.
Only sour note. The programme notes on QPR don't mention their manager as far as I can see. If deliberate, very unclassy.

This was exactly the sort of performance those of us supporting Poch from the beginning were hoping. Typified his style to a tee. The third goal was sexual.

Maintained during the doom and gloom after west ham that any concerns about our attacking play should wait until after the first home game. Now that was a spurs to be proud about. Energy and class.

This is a good indication of the sort of football we can hope to see going forward, now over to Liverpool for the big test on how we'll get on against a top team. Still not got the defence locked up quite yet, and theirs isn't amazing should be an exciting game!

That was our best performance since we beat Newcastle 5-0. It was an absolute joy to watch. QPR were appalling but we actually took full advantage, something we don't always do. I don't have any complaints. Rose and Chadli look like different players, Vertonghen back to his best, Capoue bossing the midfield and Eric Dier looks a steal at £4M. The atmosphere was actually pretty good, too - good football makes it much easier to get behind the team.

Was at the game today and was very impressed with what I saw. We defended well and looked dangerous on the counter by counter attacking with pace and numbers.

Early days, but so far I'm very impressed with the way Poch has us set up and playing.

Capoue is actually on top of the league in terms of completed passes, and I agree was excellent today.

Vertonghen looked back to his team of the season self today.

Dier is looking just as composed and adaptable as the media darling chambers and cost a quarter of the price!

Rose is looking like a new player also.

Obviously Lamela and Chadli take the plaudits today and rightly so. Great to see our record signing coming good and now we can see why Poch wanted to hold on to Chadli (allegedly)

And to think that Sherwood allegedly wanted to get rid because he did not "know him"!

It wasn't really a comment about Capoue and he didn't say anything remotely connected with 'getting rid', it was about team selection. Sherwood was making a sharp-tongued comment about the way AVB had prevented him from watching the first team training. Capoue just happened to be the chosen example.

And you know this how?
Tim made the comment then Les chipped in with his piece about midfielders.
And Capoue didn't play even though he was fit for some time.
Sorry in today's technology driven society, Tims excuse was poor.

And you know this how?

Because I heard him say it.

...Tims excuse was poor.

It wasn't an 'excuse' - he said it when he had just started as manager. I'm not sure if we'd even played a match, but if so it was only one and he hadn't had a chance to include or exclude anyone in the squad.

The comment was, as I said, intended to illustrate how unfamiliar he was with the first team and the whole point was not to comment on individual players, it was to air his annoyance at having been excluded from first team training.

IIRC, it was in response to a query about why he had just selected Bentaleb for his first senior match. He was making the point that he was familiar with the youth squad and knew Bentaleb could cope (and, of course, he was correct), but didn't know much about Capoue (who played in a similar position) because he hadn't been permitted to watch him train.

Capoue as an individual was just an example. It wasn't about him and certainly was not intended as a comment on Capoue's abilities.

This is a very good example of how internet factoids get a grip. People don't recall the precise wording of what was said, nor the context. Instead, they recall what fans said about it on websites days or weeks later. My brain doesn't work like that. I remember the words and the occasions hen they were spoken.

Some class goals there, that near post header routine worked excellently. Also nice to see Ade dancing again, been a while!
