Even if we only get Aubameyang, that can open up a lot of flexibility for squad rotation which is always great. However, I believe we will add 2 players in the window.

Tom Rogic.....plays here in oz for Central Coast Mariners and Australia.....a tall skilful athletic player in the Gareth Bale mold who scores goals and plays AM straight down the middle

This 7-2 game probably got Ian Crook the sack!

Nice goal

Has the standard improved in Oz since 2009? I saw a couple of Central Coast games, the standard was awful and I mean seriously bad. Even veteran Robbie Fowler (playing for the opposition) looked like a worldie compared to everyone else on the pitch. The only positives were the weather, the view and having a pie and a pint in the stands :D

A decent left sided (mid and left back)squad player would be 26 year old Urby Emanuelson at AC Milan ... and before people say no chance, Galliani has come out and said the club needs to trim the squad in Jan before they can sign any new players.

Antoine Griezmann, 21 year old attacking midfielder, huge talent. It would take a decent fee to get him but Real Sociedad aren't one of the wealthier clubs in Spain.

Aduriz, 31 year old striker - plays for A Bilbao, in great form despite Bilbao struggling this season. He's built for the prem league and works his socks off. He only re-signed for them in the summer but only cost £2m, may sell for £4-6m given his age.

Who?

Pjanic and Aubameyang would be a serious addition to our squad.

Would conceivably fit into our transfer budget as well (pending selling off a guy like Dawson/THudd).

But, as for the present and the future, it would be good business of adding those two.

Thomas Ince wouldn't be that far-fetched an idea for a January signing - though again is more likely in the summer, though there could be increased competition for his signature in the summer...

I haven't seen much of him but worried by the posts on here; sounds like another over-hyped, possibly over-valued English player.
Not very promising that Lolerpool let him go either; showed they didn't rate his potential.

Ince would need to be a summer signing. I just can't envision him being of any use to us as he will need time to get acclimated. He won't be provided pre-season matches as he would in the summer. And, before you say he may gain value... If Ince goes for over 10m, it's way too much. I have a really hard time accepting 10m as the asking price for him. I truly believe it should be around 5-6m.

Caulker was rejected by Arsenal as a youngster - that wasn't very promising for him!

Ince has shown very good ability in senior football for about 2 years now in the Championship and at international level alongside the likes of Caulker, Adam Smith, Wilfried Zaha, etc - other players that are apparently rated by most people in football.

Every player is a gamble, but with young players, they maintain a sell-on value even if they flop.

I think the pros outweigh the cons when it comes to any potential move for Ince

We all know that when Daniel Levy buys players, he pays something up to 50% up front, and then the rest is over a few years or in add ons!

We wouldn't sign Ince for anywhere near 10 million - and if we ended up doing so, it would only be because he would end up working out as a major success!

The problem is that his play doesn't look like 10m quality.

Hell, Andros Townsend was far superior to him in buildup/attack than him against Northern Ireland while on the same pitch. Yet, he's not even worth 4m to most. That's the difference.

It's fantastic he's scoring goals for Blackpool, but the problem is that he is being touted as an elite talent when I'm not sure if he truly is. He's a good player, but not worth 10m right now as the product he is.

Look it has got better....quite an even league....the worst team are Sydney who Del Piero plays for :) Probably League 2 standard but less thuggery. The crowds are quite good now 10,000-20,000......it is a summer sport here and picking up its profile. Some good young players coming through like Tom Rogic and keeper Matt Ryan (who trialled with us) of Central Coast ....Amini who plays in Germany.....Eli Babalj who now plays for Red Star...Nikita Rukavytsya----now of Berlin all are the future of the Aussie National side. The A League is like so many others just a breeding ground/stepping stone for its players.......that said I'm quite optimistic that the national side would beat any of the home nations in a competitive game :sneaky: I was at that Central Coast v North Queensland game....or was it when he played for Perth?

North Queensland Fury, I've got the pics on my Facebook. The Mariners scored after a few seconds when someone smashed it into the top corner if I remember rightly. The away fans, all 20 of them kept singing come on you yellows? or whatever colour they had on ... nothing like an English crowd

Does anyone seriously think Levy is going to buy us 3 new players of the quality(though they are realistic) mentioned

It took years for Levy to spend more than £10mill again and even that may have been because other clubs started to sniff around Dembele

We will get one top player this window for me it has to be either Isco or Leandro/another striker and if we are 3rd come jan I see no reason why they wouldnt want to come tbh, Isco may want CL football but he wont play for any team if he leaves in january

Adel Taraabt was also excellent for QPR the season they went up, same age as Ince is now. I think we can all agree that Taraabt, for all his undoubted talent, hasn't really made it in the Premier League. It would be lunacy to pay 10 million for a relatively unproven player when there are other areas in the squad that require immediate attention.

Rogic has looked pretty good when i've seen him play, keeps the ball well and has an eye for a pass. Seems a little slow though.

Emile Heskey, at 34 years of age, has 5 goals in 8 matches in the A-league. That tells us all we need to know about the quality.
