Realistic targets:
Upfront / wide - Aubameyang
Midfield - Classie
Defence - Alderweireld

Unrealistic now but were feasible last summer:
Isco, Willian, Moutinho

Reports are saying he is now being market tested at half the price we offered them in the summer. Seeing as we didnt spend all that much last window, it's very possible

Not sure what was bid but they only paid 6m euros and he's out of favour there at the moment. Could be a very wise move.... but we'll need to be quick..... oh, bugger, that's us out of the picture.

Tom Rogic.....plays here in oz for Central Coast Mariners and Australia.....a tall skilful athletic player in the Gareth Bale mold who scores goals and plays AM straight down the middle

This 7-2 game probably got Ian Crook the sack!

Nice goal

We made a slight profit, iirc. Hopefully that means there's plenty of cash in the transfer bag

I wonder if Defoe realises that he is keeping the spot warm for the likes of Huntelaar, Remy, Leandro Damiao. Milito and god knows who else. We all play a deluded game it seems.....all these players are rushing to come to WHL because we are just such an attractive proposition......these guys will only ever play for us in Football Manager games

That van der Vaart fella looks a bit special. He also has a website with vids where he appears in a Spurs kit AND even scores against Arsenal whilst wearing it!

have you seen this

The official Hamburg Twitter account posted a rather strange picture on Tuesday evening, just minutes after their 3-1 win over Schalke in the Bundesliga.

Presumably they were so delighted with a return to winning ways after a recent drought in front of goal, that they decided to trick their fans with a picture of Rafael van der Vaart alongside text saying he is on his way back to Tottenham.

The Dutch schemer missed the Hamburg win over Schalke due to injury that is likely to keep him out for a couple of weeks.

Van der Vaart became a fans favourite at White Hart Lane where he spent two seasons following a move from Real Madrid. In particular, VDV often stepped up to the plate in north London derbies and his creativity and eye for goal have been missed by Tottenham so far this season.

It seems highly unlikely that van der Vaart will be returning to Spurs any time soon with new boss Andre Villas-Boas keen on a faster playing style and with both Clint Dempsey and Gylfi Sigurdsson able to play in a similar position.

There were also strong rumours in the summer that Sylvie van der Vaart, Rafael’s wife, was keen to return to Germany where she has a TV career.

Spurs fans will have to dream about other incoming names (e.g. Joao Moutinho and Christen Eriksen) for what will likely be another frenzied transfer window in January.

If I could pick 3 players I think I would choose Fellaini, Willian, and Moutinho. Would be absolutely devastating.

3 midfielders? Really? As good as Fellaini is, he's not necessary.

Llorente, Willian and Moutinho would be perfection, however ridiculous it is.

Yes because imo we have a derth of creative options. I've watched Llorente quite a few times and my opinion is that Adebayor is a better player, which is borne out by the stats last season - same number of league goals but Adebayor had far more assists. So unless we were to play them up front together then I don't really see the point in spending all that money. I guess we need a back up but if we are to spend 20-30 million on a striker I would hope that they are at least as good as Adebayor.

Fellaini though I believe is pretty much world class, can basically do everything - tackle and defend, make incisive passes, can shoot, and is extremely threatening in the box on set pieces. He also basically plays as a second striker already, and could probably play up front if necessary.

3 Players: Aubameyang, Felipe Anderson, and Keisuke Honda.

Aubameyang and Honda can fill starting roles now (RW/CF and Midfield in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1) and Anderson has that look about him that he could turn into something very special very soon. We'd have to get Aubameyang and Anderson now while the getting is good (and by that I mean the shitheads Chelsea/Man Utd/Man City really don't have them on their radar).

We need an exciting signing like Honda, i am in favour of going to a flat 433 as i just see no point in playing 4231 without a quality number 10, i also think we need to utilise our young CM's like Carroll, Livermore etc, we seem to have a number of CM/DMs at the club and a flat 3 would be easy to rotate and keep players interested and in form and play 1 youngster with 2 experienced players and still put out a strong midfield even in the domestic cups.
We need a squad cull in places and we also need to stop keeping players for ages if they don't fit, i hope Levy will now address this, not holding out any hope (see GDS = what a total waste of time for everyone) i do think AVB will try and drum it into Levy that a tight efficient squad with players that fit certain positions is better for the club long term. Can he resist those bargain players though?
Philosophy change in the manager..
Philosophy change needed in our chairman's buying policy..

I love playing this game but we all know the only likely target we might acquire being touted round is Aubameyang.

Not saying he isn't good enough just can't see us investing further than that.
