Do people expect us to play a 50 game season of league, cup and europe where each match is just as important as the next and in fact gets more important as the season goes on with only Modric, Hudd, Lennon, Bentley, Sandro, Palacios and Krancjar?

We will be playing on almost every weekend and midweek for at least until xmas. Think of the injuries we could sustain. Its not just a push in the Champions League we are looking at, we need to finish top four again against stronger opposition. We need to be in a position were we can win most games.

Adding Arda to the equation adds pace and penetration as Dan said but it will give us an extra talented individual who can be relied on. We got 4th this year through one simple fact, the strength and depth of our squad. We had the highest number of different goalscorers in the league and by some margin too. As well as injury there is also lapses in form and suspensions we are building a squad that can challenge for bigger and more consistent things.

That is why we need someone like Arda

Good post mate and the sentence I highlighted is a really important one. I think we have the third best squad (behind United and Chelski) and without the depth we have the injury on our key players would have "secured" a mid-table posistion...again.

With the amount of matches we will potentially have and the fact that we must be fighting in CL and for 4th again forces us to up the quality of our squad, not only the "starting 11"

Plus looking at his wiki page, he does a lot of humanitarian work, and spends a lot of time with the Gala youth teams aiding their development. This is reasuuring, as it seems like he has a mature head on a young pair of shoulders. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

Spoke to my mate who knows nothing about English football. He's a Fenerbahce supporter and even he said to me you have signed Arda! Asked him is it really true? He replied YES the Fener fans are making up a song about Gala losing their captain.

This guy is quality I went to the last Derby game against Fener where he came on as a sub following an injury and he was by a long way the best player on the pitch. Much better than GDS who missed a sitter!

Well I remember him playing on the left in the Euro's and also probably that Rijkaard tends to play his winger on the opposite side to their natural foot, Messi on the right, Ronaldinho on the left, Gio played on the right at Barca and so on, very much a current fad in world football especially for teams that play 433
