A guilty sign of what? Worrying that he might have been a fraction offside?

A fraction? Why on earth would he be thinking about being a fraction offside when he could clearly see Mertesacker playing him onside by at least 3 yards? Even Gibbs was clearly playing him onside.

:sleepy:

I have, several times, and now I've watched it again, it's apparent the 'quick glance at the linesman' is a figment of your imagination.

Referees and linesmen have been known to make totally bizarre decisions, you realise. Or perhaps you don't.

It happened so quick I wonder whether Rafa even knows. But he did have a very quick glance at the Lino which is always a guilty sign

Are you kidding me? The only look up Rafa does it to see the ball and the goal

I vaguely remember him glance quickly before running to the crowd, but regardless, I think it was a handball, a marginal one at that, but only under the scrutiny of many a replay, I don't think the ref or linesman could have given it, in real-time it was near on impossible to spot, unless you're Meatsucker, who was right by it, saw it and probably should have appealed a bit more aggressively and got himself booked or sent off.

I've wacthed it like 20 times now, and on occasions with friends as well... it was NOT a handball!
Read even on a gooner side that they say it was NOT a handball.
Many Englis/Spurs fans seem to be oblivious to the fact that some (Spurs) players do have such ball skills.

When i watched it live, my celebrations were slightly muted, as i thought it was about to be ruled out....

I dont think it was handball, think Hoddle had it spot on. Great finish aswell though, virtually unstoppable at that range...

It wasn't a handball because the ref didn't give it. We won and move on.

Rafael sums it up nicely himself

Van der Vaart has also criticised Arsenal for taking their defeat on Sunday with bad grace, following suggestions that his goal should not have stood and that he should have received a second yellow card for celebrating with the crowd.

"They are bad losers. No, it was not handball - I took the ball on my chest," he said.
"And have you seen how close the crowd is to our pitch? Where else should I run?
