With the news on Batshuayi and to a much lesser extent Dembele I hope we pull the trigger on this one ASAP.

Still think we will get him regardless, just feel bad we got him waiting for a tad long..

But TBH, I am getting jittery he may slip away if we don't act fast soon..

There are a lot of question marks about how Janssen will adapt to the league. Firstly, he's only had one season in the Eredevisie, which is not one of the top 5 leagues in Europe. The defenders there don't mark tightly or with great physicality. Plenty of Eredevisie goal scorers have flopped specatularly in England (Ruiz, Altidore, Kezman, Alves, Van Wolfswinkel, S. De Jong).

Furthermore, Janssen isn't particularly pacey and isn't a great athlete like Batshuayi. He also can't play as a wing forward, which means you can't play him in the attacking three behind Kane. He's never played in a high pressing system like Batshuayi and Lacazette have. He doesn't know, as far as I'm aware, a single player in our squad. So, it's all going to be a major transition for him.

But by far the most concerning issue is whether Janssen can be a major contributor as a substitute off the bench. He has only scored 1 goal in 12 sub appearances in the last 3 seasons (2 in the Dutch second division). That's what we desperately need more than anything is a livewire of a difference maker in the last 20 minutes of games to turn around draws to wins. I think Janssen, like Son and Chadli, is going to find the limited time on the pitch to make a difference a major hinderance. Batshuayi on the otherhand, has one of the best goal scoring ratios in all of Europe the last two season off the bench (9 in 20).

Ultimately, I think we've got to hope for Kane to more or less have another season like last where he starts 40+ matches in all competitions and doesn't get injured or run himself into the ground before the end of the season. I think Janssen might actually show well in cup matches where he gets a full 90-minutes out of the pitch to build a head of steam (Son also had some of his best games in cup matches last season), but as far as being a massive contributor in the league, I'm a bit skeptical.

Disagree with you on the bolded bit, I think we're crying out for either a long-range goalscorer and/or an unpredictable tricks merchant in our side. Just someone who can offer a different way to score when our [usually successful] Plan A isn't coming off. I'd accept that that player doesn't necessarily have to be a striker though, and if we got someone like that then I'd instantaneously feel loads better about the idea of signing Janssen.

(All of which is just to say PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL PLEASE SIGN SOFIANE BOUFAL because I think he'd be the best fun to watch. And because reasons.)

Any idea who might be able to offer that something different you talk about?

I see Janssen playing with Kane if we are pushing for a result.... so we might go diamond like what Fergie had taught Poch. Fergie must had reveal some of his tactics...

Janssen's presence in the box may actually draw the defence off Kane and free him up, if they are to play together. Think Klinsmann and Sherringham.

Anyhow, I think if the Batshuayi to Chelsea rumours are true, Janssen may just be pushed quickly. Couple of bids in already to test the water, Levy must know what needs to be done now. Janssen has already done the club tour, and allegedly agreed terms. Could happen quite quick.

If we could get Janssen done this week, plus the suggested extra forward we've been looking for, probably more a WF than out and out CF, be that Vazquez or Sanabria (albeit that was dismissed that he would join along with Janssen), I'd see that as a good summers business. Three designated positions dealt with ahead of preseason. No waiting till the season has already started like usual, meaning late additions take longer to settle and adjust.

Has been linked in the media, plus sure I saw a comment from Greyfox that there had been some interest show from us. Rumoured in the media that his club are looking for £19m, but could be negotiated down.

When he did the club tour did he get a reduction on the 20 quid they charged me? DL. really knows how to make a pound.

He is a little bid old for our transfer policy and N'jie is also suited to WF role. So, we need Janssen or Sanabria. If We get over 25 yrs Player, It should be a substitute for Eriksen. In a tactical point, there are a few players like him.

Certainly can see PSG going for Lacazette but would be surprised if they were genuinely in for VJ.

Either way would like to see us try and get this deal done now with rumours of other clubs showing an interest.

Janssen would play at 9 and Kane would play in the 10 or "auxiliary striker" role as Alli does.

Poch liked to put Kane back there when Soldado came on.
