We all want spurs to win stuff. We just have to accept the fact that lewis and levy have put paying for the training groud and stadium in front of investing in the team. £496m since 2008. Yet still we have improved.

Instead of being worried we should be excited for when we start getting the returns and can unleash.

We're in the top 6 teams in the country and have been for quote some time.
We clearly have bigger incomes than Everton, West Ham, Newcastle etc, but they often spend more than they make, why is that?
We're NOT poor. I'm not talking about being funded by Joe Lewis and flying in the face of FFP. I'm talking about spending some of our income, which has grown insanely in the last 3 years but out spending has not.

how do you work it out over the last 3 years? and in that time we have played a season with less capacity due to knocking the corner down, and also seen the stadium development double in price. Yes we have had 2 seasons in the CL, the 1st didn't go to well. we might of improved our profits, but we have now improved our players contracts and our managers.

when we was at WHL, all 3 teams you have mentioned bar Spam (1 season) really have had bigger stadiums, and how you can include Newcastles spend is unbelievable, they had someone moaning for them in the commons. Spam are now in there 3rd season in a rented stadium, their costs are player wages and a small annual rent over £2m, they don't even contribute to the policing of a match, or the stewards, and Everton had a big investment last season, just wait till they start building their new ground.

at least wait till the end of the transfer window and see what our spend is before having a moan please

Finishing in the top 3, 3 seasons in a row. 2 times in with a genuine shout of winning it.
Last season we fell away. Unless we bolster this season we'll drop away again.
If we drop away again, we'll slip even further back after that.

We're balanced precariously now. A tilt in the wrong direction and we're falling down.

last season we never fell away, we still had a pretty strong finish, we just had a shit Nov, Dec.

we have bolstered this season without a signing, we will have Moura from the off, a fit Lamela, hopefully a fit Rose.

the only team that has even close to of strengthened is Liverpool, but at the moment they still look like the overall squad will struggle over the whole season, and their new players still need to bed and settle in. a couple of injuries to Mane, Salah or Firminho, and they are weak

What do we think it will take to win the league?

I really doubt we have the resources. To shift city.

For me this season is top 4 and hopefully a trophy. Even if we don't buy anyone and don't lose anyone i think we can do that.

88-92 points this season, IMO. We wont get that. City will. Outside shot of Liverpool.

Over achieved using less resources. I don't believe a team that takes £100m+ in tv, sponsorship and prize money can't spent a few quid more than what we make each window.

It's not the spend I'm necessarily on about its as always which tends to get overlooked is the wages and the among of money we pay our staff compared to everyone else, we're closing the gap bur still way behind our rivals. The fact that we've had to cut back anyway hasn't helped us either.

Give it two weeks then complain I bet we bring 3 in that make a difference.

This is it really.

I love the discussion (this is a fans forum after all), but we may need to put the passionate arguments on hold until after the end of the TW window.

The situation is currently on a knife edge. We're so close to having a truly formidable squad, you can smell it!!

You're probably right, but they are beatable

I think it's less to do with the players we have at out disposal and more to do with Poch; his tactics and ability to get the team focused on their task against City

That said, a fully fit first-XI when we play City (x2) would be handy...

I meant we fell from title challenge to sneaking 3rd at the end and being over 20 points off top.
That's slippage

Bit harsh neg repping @Arthur Hucksake
It's a fair question - if Poch had spent even 30-40m each summer in excess of funds received, it's beyond belief we could have won the league by now and every one else would be chasing us, not vice versa.

There's no reason, with the insane amount of income from TV deals, 3 years of Champions league football, decent domestic cup runs that we could afford to spend a little cash.

Didn't we have info before that Levy had to make certain promises about our spending in order to get the bank loans for the new stadium?

Like the promise Poch got that he'd be backed this summer?
Seems like that's been vetoed already.

Too early to say that. It sounds like we've agreed a fee for Zaha and offered him very good wages. We can't force players to sign for us though.

Which means he's going to Chelsea.

Again, it's too early to say that.

As for being over twenty points off the leaders last season..... City finished with a record points total. We were four points off second place. We actually finished the season with the same number of points that Leicester managed in the season that they won the title.
