please remind me never to start playing football manager, because I might think signings are just about giving 50m here, 50m mil there and that's job done:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

and what 1 of those Spam players they have signed would get in our 1st XI? they have been at the OS for 2 seasons, paying just over £2m in rent, and have finally spent some money to keep them up. yep a manager that knows the prem, but fuck me the money and quality he had at City was harder not to win something.

If we hadn't even been linked with players this window I could understand the panic. the annoying thing is no one knows for certain that the failure to buy players is due to Levy, it might be clubs wanting players in return that either are not for sale, or don't want to go to the other club. it might be players thinking wow with that stadium they can afford 250k a week, when Levy ain't going to pay them that amount when Kane is on 200k. with the Zaha news, if he is off to Chelsea perhaps it's because Chelsea have RLC to give them, but we can only offer Onamah. if Zaha leaves Palace they need something big, because he kept them up last season

If somebody doesn’t understand that improving the West Ham team is easier than improving ours then they are probably best left ignored.

On Fifa I bought Sanchez and Gabriel Jesus. Winning the league was so easy.

That's not the point - why are we the only team in the league that either can't identify a player for shit, or if they actually do, can't get it over the line?

I'm not saying I want the players WH signed, or Liverpool. I'm saying why is it that we, so consistently, year after year, take so long we usually fuck it up.
10 years ago there was a market for this behavior. We were small fry, we needed to sell big, buy numerous, rinse and repeat.

We haven't moved on from that. We have a load of big valuable players we don't want to sell, and a load of shit players, worth feck all no one wants to buy.
The model has run its course, it's as clear to see as anything, but we haven't moved on. We're still trying to act like a mid table club in a period of growth whilst trying to sit at a the top table.

As for the Daily Fail article saying the stadium won't hinder transfers - of course it won't, we do a perfectly good job of that ourselves.

As opposed to thinking every scruffy 17 year old in our academy is the next big thing and playing them week after week?

I suggest you go find @Trix's ITK right at the start of the window

edit: apologies read 1st bit then replied

I bet there are teams in Europe that do want our players, they just have 3 weeks after the window closes to try and prize them away and not pay the full whack which Levy and many other clubs will suffer. just imagine if the 3 players that are considering their futures at the moment decided they want out after the 9th Chelsea are fucked, because we all know Hazard has the skills to do it "Mourinho"

With the exception of last season this coming season and 2 of the least three seasons have been HUGE chances to win a league title with that extra bit on our bench , I don’t want us to end up with nothing in five years time

Still think it’s totally pointless judging Levy till the window closes it’s still 10 days. If he pulls out a £40m CM and a £40m striker/winger it’s been a great window. And both those things are still immensely possible.

I suggest you take it all with a pinch of salt and stop reading it as if it's an exact documentation of what is going to happen.

I have edited my post above since you quoted this.

and I suggest that even with the salt which I do add, we should wait till the 9th before all toys are thrown out the prams

Whilst this conversation is mostly about this window and how this, our biggest year in decades, is falling apart, I'm not judging him on one window.
It's every window. Every year. Without fail.

On the one hand, he's delivered this world class stadium. On the other, he's been acting like a twat in the transfer window year after year. I think he'll be genuinely confused why it happens when Poch says enough is enough. "oh but we tried Mo, we really did, but we couldn't get the deal over the line. We have learned lessons though"

This kind of shite only happens to us.

Because for the last ten years we have been paying for a stadium and new training ground and have had to raise money to buy players from sales. Simples.

Maybe, but in the Leicester season there was no way we were preparing for a title challenge in the run up to that so wouldn't have invested with that in mind.

The following summer we identified gaps in the squad (DM competition, backup striker) and invested £28m accordingly, buying Wanyama and Janssen. Wanyama improved the first 11 and Janssen didn't work out, but that could have happened with any signing. We then put together a more polished title challenge than the unexpected one of the year before but were ultimately unable to compete with a team who only played one game a week for most of the season.

No it doesn't. You just don't spend all your time on the forums of other teams analysing every piece of ITK they get.

I don't take any notice of the ITK as most of it doesn't pan out or doesn't actually mean anything.

This place has become obsessed with it. Like, unhealthily so. You're putting people you don't know on a pedestal and hanging off everything they say.
