Well I just hope Levy has some money to spend in January, because we really need another striker, another mid and a defender who can play LB if needed.

Lol, I'm mystified as to how people still believe Moutinho "fell through".

I don't believe for one second Levy tried anything, just like all the times we failed to sign a striker in the last 8 windows. He's made you think he's a hard bargainer and he's good for the club, but he's not much better than anyone else and has proven of late, he is clueless. Why get Dempsey and "save" on another player, when, if you fail to get CL/challenge for cups/even do well you make less money anyway? Stupidity.

Stop being strung along.

Okay, others have tried and failed...but I am open to persuasion: If you can produce a viable and well-argued explanation, preferably supported by evidence, that Mr levy somehow convinced Porto to play along with a story that they had named a price, he accepted it, they raised the price and he accepted again, and then convinced Porto, the FA, and the entire media-World (who would jump a the chance of an anti-Levy/AVB/Spurs story, to play along with an embellishment where the deal fell through because Porto submitted faulty paper-work, I will stop being strung-along and begin believing in this conspiracy theory like you (y)

He's proven that he is clueless by taking us from mid-table to CL competition while developing a state-of-the-art training facility, beginning work on a new stadium, revamping the youth set-up and producing an exciting young squad, with an exciting young youth-squad behind them, and innovative and exciting strategic club partnerships...without getting us in debt = the IDIOT!

we had or have players to get us into top 4 spots yet we refuse or dont build on it.. this is not a game where we wait till new stadium is built to get more money to get new bigger name players.. we have players now who with some investment will get us there so instead of playing everything down and been conservative then take the limited risk in signing a couple of players who make a difference... if we dont succed then at least spurs will always have fucking idioits like u and me who will always go watch them play and keeping their coffers full so they can come to games in their big fuck off 200k cars and pretend life is all full of shits and giggles.

You whole theory falls down on the refuse or don't build on it - it is just that you don't think we are building on it fast enough and point-blank refuse to see how we are building on it via our youth policy.

We have players now who will get us there immediately with investment - the type of investment that requires us to shell out £200,000 per week wages. But...we can't pay those wages, those players probably wouldn't come to us even if we did, and we can't sustain a team like that even if they won things - that is the sad truth. Our only hope is to be smarter than our opponents, and that takes time - which is the one thing you totally refuse to give.

I challenge you and all of the nay-sayers to say nothing negative, nothing...for the rest of this season and the whole of the next, but to just, y'know, do something radical like rain or shine support the team, the head coach and the chairman, and then see where we are (though, I suspect, that even if we won the EPL/CL double there are plenty on here who would still bitch and moan)

I know its another league but 9 man Rennes beat moneybags PSG 2-1 away today with a totally gutsy performance...but I guess that's the unpredictable magic of football.
Although I wish sometimes we could manage a few gutsy,backs-to-the-wall performances...maybe the second half at ManU was our one for the season?

Of course it would have been nicer to win - but I think my point still stands. We were within a whisker of being two up and totally dominating the game, despite our injury woes, etc., and we lose possibly our most important player to keep on the pitch. United and Chelsea had, in the book, easier away games, without the injury list or the period of transition, and still lost. Be disappointed, but, FFS, under those circumstances it is ridiculous, IMHO, to use it as yet another excuse to whinge and bitch and moan about the chairman, the head coach, and issues folk really, in truth have barely an intimation of.

And, yeah, United was one.

Why does there always have to be someone to blame?

This.

Personally I blame Adebayor for making a stupid, twat, challenge

Even at 2-0 we never would have been dominating the old habits would have come back like folding up and conceding goals.

funny that AVB just isnt picking siggurdson anymore, he probably wouldnt even make the bench if dembele and parker were fit, with Ade being available for selection

so who the hell wanted him? I guess it was a deal that was already going to happen regardless like Vertonghen

and Dempsey, sure it looked like a Levy last minute deal, stealing him from liverpool but that 6 million could've been used so much better earlier in the window

I expect nothing from the window, I'm sure there will be the usual blue and yellow type whispering however.

IIRC Siggurdson was all but 'done' (whatever that means) quite a while before we appointed AVB, but only officially announced within days of AVB being appointed. It depends on how cynical you want to be as to what the reasons for the lengthy delay might have been. And that might well also apply to Vertonghen, i'm not sure.

indeed thats my point, the manager should be signing players to fit into his system or a director of football who again goes on what the head coach needs for his system

not daniel levy and his elite team of Avengers: his son, ronny bloody rosenthal, sherwood and david pleat.

I generally agree however I thought he (Dempsey) was pretty good when he came on today. We will never compete with the current top 3 unless we get a massive cash injection which will not happen under DL. I am resigned to scrapping for 4th at best and top half in reality.

For the last 3 or 4 seasons we've always been one player away from breaking into the top 3 or 4 on a regular basis

Either that's Levy's fault or we simply don't have the money to buy that extra player

I have no idea which one it is
