Wenger wants to make us angry with his stupid comments before league starts..He said that big DF will crash little Modrić, he thinks he is too weak to play in league..When Times journalist asked him about Fabregas, because Modric and him are almost same weight and height, he said that Fabregas is tough like boxer(lol).
I personally think that Wenger is scared of Tottenham, because we are getting stronger and stronger every day and they don"t do nothing accept trying to keep Adebayor, Fabregas and Bendter...

I think Wenger has a point. Isn't Fabregas from Barca originally? Someone on here made comment to suggest that Barca do toughen up their youngsters (this was in relation to Dos Santos). Fabregas is hardly lightweight.

I'd put Modric with the likes of Hleb/Rosicky at the moment. Fabregas is quality. I hope Modric gets to that sort of quality with us but time will tell.

What a total prong. I'm sure Gibbsy will take this as vindication of his anti-Modric ravings, though, which is actually pretty amusing.

Fibreglass tough like a boxer? He couldn't even fight his way out of Teemu's pocket.

I'm just looking at Opta stats. Fabregas is the most creative forward attacking midfielder in the Premiership. Even better than Gerrard.

Fabregash tough like a boxer?

Presumably then Mr Wenger, you wouldn't mind if I gave him a slap, purely in the interest of determining whether he is indeed tough like a boxer.

I'd never condone violence towards football rivals, even if the Bentner v Adebayor and Stewart Downing lookalike v Lampard were amusing.

As for Wenger's comments on Modric being too small, well while he does have some expertise in little boys, Modric will be fine in the Premiership.

I remember during the Euro, Wenger was doing (worthless) commentary for French television. His partner was playing up how good Modric was ("the Cruyff of the Balkans"), while Wenger remained silent (his usual commentary technique, sort of an anti-commentator...although perhaps that's not such a bad thing, considering the rubbish they usually come out with). Anyhow, he finally did admit that Modric was quite talented, as I recall.

And Modric is tough - player of the year in the Bosnian league, which is not a very gentle place. Size and toughness are totally uncorrelated, anyhow. Size and sheer strength, yes, but that's not generally what comes into play if you're moving quickly.

Fibreglass said in an interview during Euro 2008 that 'at arsescum' everything passes through me'.

I guess this could be why his stats are high. Maybe because he is the only option the scum have.

He is a quality player for sure but with 26 goals for his team since 2003. Gerrard has 78 goals during the same period.

So who is more effective?

Typical Arsenal player ..
No class. - Just arrogance.

From the Sunday Times...

CESC FABREGAS: IT’S SO HARD TO BE HUMBLE

Cesc Fabregas has plenty to be happy about, but not everybody warms to his big smile. Walking off at the Emirates last year after a goalless FA Cup tie against Blackburn, the Spaniard approached Rovers manager Mark Hughes, who recalls: ‘The young man asked me a question which was disrespectful. He asked if I had played for Barcelona and when I said yes, he shook his head and said: ‘Well, that wasn’t Barcelona football’

Others might endorse Hughes’s view that Fabregas lacks humility. The Spaniard has been known to smile and shake hands with a beaten opponent before whispering ‘loser’ as he turns away. Clearly, he follows his own rules about respect. Last week he criticised his former club for targeting his Arsenal colleagues: ‘Barça should show more respect. Arsenal never make a lot of noise [over transfers] and always try to do things properly’

Also from the same article :

That club, Arsenal, are still resented in some quarters for luring Fabregas to London. Barcelona, who had trained Fabregas, took a dim view of the snatch, having put the teenager through their academy, identified him as the next Xavi or Iniesta and paired him in the same youth team as Lionel Messi, the dazzling Argentinian. Fabregas had by then captured international attention, at least among the sharper-eyed scouts, when he was the outstanding footballer at the Under-17 World Cup in 2003.

I read the Wenger article earlier today and just put it down as sour grapes or mind games.

I just looked up Wenger's age (58) to console myself that assuming natural death only, he will most likely leave his mortal coil before me.

maybe it's jusy becasue Xavi and ineista are tiny but Fabregas looks a good few inches taller than Modric to me.
