We're building our team around the wrong player!

Bale has shown he can play on the right if need be. Could have moved him there and played Rose on the left. As most have said, we should NEVER move Modric out of the middle. We'd be better off putting someone without any pace wide than exiling Modric out there.

Also, haven't seen it mentioned much, but I don't ever recall seeing BAE dribbling so much. All-around poor game from him, which is rare.

I so agree that playing Modric out of position is the wrong thing to do.

He is the perfect midfield link man and putting him on the wing is ridiculous. He is the pivot and anchor of the team.

It's like playing Chris Paul as a shooting guard. :bang:

I agree with the OP - Modric has to play in the middle. I don't care if its with Sandro and Parker, in fact when we go to the Bridge and Etihad I think its preferable to have those three in the middle, and yes that means VDV misses out in those games.

With VDV and Lennon are out, we need to keep modric in the middle. If you want two upfront then that means Parker and Sandro do a bit of rotation, keeps them fresh, and we find answers for the wing positions.

Same again today. Modric class. Sandro and Parker are not both needed in this game. One of them needs to drive forward and make the defenders think about things. It's been 8 on 4 whenever we attack, and that is too easy for the defence.

Norwich have been woeful. We've been pretty good to a point, but we need another attacking player on who is going to make runs that make more space for Bale and VDV.

Lets have krankjar on,

I'll be fair, Scott parker did it a lot more second half. Put an extra body forward whenever he could.

Great win.

Bale's gone up a notch this season fabulous season so far, he with Lennon Walker inject real pace in our team....really hope we can get another winger in the transfer window to allow us to play the way we are. Sinclar at Swansea Hoillet Blackburn we need another speedy in the squad.

Sandro was excellent. I actually think the pairing of Parker and Sandro was very good today. We dominated the midfield, they could barely string 5 passes together without someone breaking it up.

I also thought Gallas had a great game.

Yeah we played the famed 4-2-3-1 tonight. Worked very well.

Although, it looked like 4-3-3 at times!

I noticed that! Especially with Ade drifting out and Bale going wherever he wants.

But it was great to see a formation that has Modric right in the middle the entire match. And with Sandro and Parker he doesn't have to do as much dirty work.

Like most, liked how we lined up, took a little while to introduce the urgency into the game but as Bale roamed more we looked more threatening.

Sandro dealt with Holt and Morrison very well - he got in front of them to stop easy balls getting to their feet, helped deal with the aerial balls as well as covering the full backs. I don't think its a case of Parker or Sandro, and tonight showed they can play together. Personally I think Parker was more box to box than a holding midfielder.

The team is looking excellent, Harry learnt from the issues against Chelsea and Sunderland without Lennon, and I think that lineup would cause any teams problems while also being defensively solid. Be interesting if Harry goes with something like that away to City next month

I loved the Parker/Sandro partnership. With those two we're able to completely boss possession and free up Modric and Bale to roam. Sandro was clearly asked to sit, while parker was box to box driving and I loved every second.

This was a truly commanding away performance at a ground where only two other teams have managed to take wins this season. Completely unlike the performances against West Brom and Fulham where we stuttered a bit.

Agree with this whole post but I was thinking exactly the same thing regarding the City game after tonight...maybe King in for Gallas but that's it.

Scott Parker should not be the first name on the sheet....

LUKA MODRIC

CENTRE MIDFIELD

It's no coincidence that our poorest performances, which have lacked any rhythm, have been with Luka out of the side, or shunted all around the midfield except for the centre.

So please, Harry, stop this 2 defensive midfielders bollocks, and put our Luka where he needs to be.

No issue with Sandro, but it's one or the other, and to be frank, whilst he is a destroyer in the tackle, he doesn't bring enough all round game to our midfield at the moment.

Harry is really showing that without his first 11, he has no idea what to do with the side, and the organisation of Chelsea's midfield, whilst pedestrian, won them a point and should have won them the game.
Are you serious or just stupid

The only blot on the horizon, and it is an issue raised over-and-over, is that the wee fella still just does not score anywhere near often enough. I had hoped that his emphatic strike against the Scousers was indicactive of an improvement in this direction.

Yes, yes and yes.

Been calling to see this since the start of the season, and it was beautiful.

As for SP's comment on Modric, he got an assist last night, and I don't think his game is about end product. He will get the odd goal and assist, but like Parker and Sandro give us a base to play off, Modric is the metronome that keeps the whole thing flowing. He was class last night.

I agree, but the problem is that Adebayor can't play in that game and the whole formation relies on a stirker who can hold the ball up - I really hope we get a back-up for Ade before we play City to give us a realistic chance of beating them
