The reality (much to my surprise, as a long-standing and long-suffering Tottenham resident), is that the council have done remarkably well on this; and why are you expecting funds from Haringey? Arsenal received none from Islington, who also wanted a huge raft of S106 payments.

Because Arsenal didn't have to make the same sort of significants improvement to transport. Whereas part of our permissions were based on providing this.

Why should we have to pay for public transport improvements, when we are already making a significant contribution to the area by building it in the first place?

So they should do well, it's in their best interests.

My uncle informs me that getting away from scumirates is an absolute bastard.

It'll be interesting to see where we go from here.

The simple fact remains, that we need a bigger stadium, and we need it in the relatively immediate future. Let's hope that Levy was just posturing and that the NDP is actually viable.

Unfortunately it seems the members of the OPLC don't see further than the end of their nose. The West Ham bid is by far the easiest path to go down and the bid with the least political fallout and you could also argue it was the ethically correct decision with regards to the fact that it's West Ham's territory and we remain in N17 but that doesn't neccessarily make this the RIGHT decision.

But with all said and done, that's that and now we all should move on now and focus on Levy hopefully reinvigorating the NDP and in making it financially feasible once again.

The bad decision was not this one, as you rightly say, its ethically correct and what was promised.

The bad decisions were made when they built this lego stadium without enough future consideration.

Club Statement on Olympic Stadium Bid

11 February 2011

Share

The OPLC has today announced that the Club is not the preferred bidder for the Olympic Stadium site.
The Olympic Stadium site is an essential element in the creation of a viable Olympic Park and we know that, together with AEG, we provided a first class proposal to support the sustainability of the whole project.
It was never an option, however, that we would retain the running track as we believe this to be unacceptable for our supporters and therefore wholly unviable in the long term. It carries with it the major risk of being incapable of delivering a lasting legacy without further calls on the public purse or a requirement for changes to the stadium and track at a later date.
Much has been made of the promise to keep the Athletics track within the Olympic Stadium and, therefore, we should all expect to see the retention of this track firmly embedded and legally guaranteed by those entrusted with this legacy commitment, today and in the future.
We submitted an honest bid with the only solution we considered capable of delivering lasting regeneration, a significant return to the public purse and wide-ranging benefits to the local communities and to London.
The OPLC’s decision has still to be approved by two Government departments and the Mayor’s Office. We shall continue to monitor the bid process over the coming weeks up until its final determination, whilst reviewing our position and holding discussions with our advisors.
We shall spend time assessing our situation in respect of a new stadium and when we have any further information we shall update our supporters.

oh well another 6 or 7 years stuck in our tiny ground watching Arseanl and the likes go further and further ahead of us in revenue and growth. I guess the 30 old timers with their bedsheets are happy. must be nice to live life with no ambition like the OS no-goers. Unfortunately i'm stuck with dreaming of bigger and better things.

I'm glad we're out of it. However it's a great setback for the 90% of Spurs fans who according to Levy supported the idea.

If we're talking about ethics surely the environmental costs of knocking down a brand-new stadium and building a fresh one in it's place is more relevant than us not being a team from East London

Right the best thing for levy to do now is to MAKE the NDP viable, even if that means a season or two at wembley (this would benefit the FA as well). The sooner we get it done the better.

For all those people who seemed to be anti Levy and saying that all he wants is to save money etc and not whats best for the club, to move forward - then why didn't our bid involve retaining the running track...?

We would have won the bid no question.

cant we just forget all about it and move forward

Yep I hope the club don't take legal action, but we absolutely should be all over it if there's even the slightest suggestion that the Spammers will try to remove the track. Which they will do.

I wonder if in 30 years I'll be proud having supported the club for 55 years with the club not winning the league for 80 years.

That will be cracking....

Its one thing aiming high, and another chasing something which is completely out of reach.

We thought we could uproot our club, march into eastlondon territory, rip up the olympic stadium and track and the commitee were going to agree to all that because levy is a great chairman and always gets his way.

Smacks of arrogance if you ask me,I hope levy is playing everyoneon this and he has some master plan regarding the NDP up his sleeve, otherwise i will suspect that he had Trigger as his OS adviser.

I know you were against us moving but seriously you sound like a Spammer

Hang your head in shame :-|
