Erm, who’s going to pass the ball in central midfield? Surely Winks had to start in place of Sissoko. Despite what was a reasonable transfer window it once again highlights the seriousness of our failure to sign another central midfielder, 2 injuries and we look threadbare in a key area. We’d have been better off dropping Eriksen or Alli deeper and starting Son.
Hopefully if they actually try and attack our goal having that passer in midfield wont be a huge issue as we can hit them on the break.

I hope we see a similar midfield setup that we saw against Everton. Eriksen dropped a little deeper, almost playing in a central trio alongside Sissoko and Dier. We had a good midfield balance of creativity, power and defensive cover that day.

Poch said Demele has a “personal medical issue”. I can only think that is a family medical problem otherwise he’d just be injured. Big loss though.

How is it going to look:

Lloris
Alderweireld Sanchez Vertonghen
Aurier ________ Dier ________ Davies
Sissoko Alli Eriksen
Kane

or

Kane
Alli
Eriksen Sissoko
Davies ________ Dier ________ Aurier
Vertonghen Sanchez Alderweireld
Lloris
They are both pretty much the same.

Sissoko has way more to prove before his performances should objectively solicit this fairytale-ish support that some is offering so freely. Let's hope he starts that journey today.

That midfield just looks like one that will give the ball away a lot.

Glad Aurier is starting though. thats a massive plus

Aurier is a big plus but I feel we’re missing a trick by not playing Son, leaving us lop sided with pace only on our right side. Don’t get me wrong, Davies has been really good recently but the dynamic of our team is all wrong especially since we have no one who can pass the ball in the middle.

Ffs get off Sissoko’s case. Hes done alright at centre mid, and almost ran the show against Everton.

Jesus Christ

Maybe sissoko will have an alright game and he's spurs so I'll get behind him but there is no point kidding ourselves that he has ever does anything more than the bare minimum of what should be expected of a pro footballer for us, when winks is up to speed he should take sissokos place no doubt

Sissoko starring again. I just don't get it

We don't have many options. Dembele is injured and Winks is still getting match sharpness back. I would prefer to drop Eriksen deeper, but Poch doesn't like doing that and actually in a game like today against an extremely physical team Sissoko might be useful.

We definitely need a more creative ball player in CM though added to the squad.

But to hit them on the break we need someone to be able to feed our front line and don’t see that being Dier or Sissoko whom despite his improved performances recently can’t pass for toffee. Furthermore to play on the counter attack would surely mean playing Son was imperative for this plan to work in the absence of Dembele and Winks. Thank God our back 3 can actually play long and accurate offensive passes.

Disagree, in fact there is a massive difference in whether Eriksen and Sissoko make up part of a 3 in midfield or they push up as part of a three off Kane. If it's the former, then we should enjoy loads of possession but have to be patient and wear them down, if it's the latter than we immediately then we might see less of the ball but have more space in behind them when we do get it.

I personally hope it's the former, because if it's the latter then Son would have been a better bet than Sissoko for that type of role.

We always seem to have key players out. Rose, Dembele, Wanyama, Lamela would all arguably be starting. I love if it the other items contenders regularly had 4/5 starters out every game. This is why we needed another midfielder.

Rubbish. Sissoko is the greatest player on Earth because he was only below average in his last two matches, instead of utterly shit.

Delicate balancing act with all the games coming up. Sissoko will add strength to match Wet Spam in the middle and the bench looks strong. Trust Poch.
