  • If this were City, it would be 'financial doping'. As it's not, it's OK.
How is share capital financial doping?? is financial doping even a thing ?

Financial doping is a thing, as Man City fans well know... Hence the existence of FFP, even if it's a damp squib. What they fail to mention is the football world's main problem with their money is where it comes from, not so much the fact that they have it.

Yeah there's a lot of cognitive dissonance among Man City fans. They seem to have developed a massive, collective, persecution complex - Bluemoon is littered with fans complaining about the 'anti-City media bias' and how all of the footballing institutions have it in for them.

Reality is, you can barely go 10 minutes of MOTD or any footballing podcast or without someone spaffing themselves silly over the brilliance of Pep or Kevin de Bruyne, but as soon as someone dares mention the origin of their wealth it's MEDIA BIAS, MEDIA BIAS.

The way they're instantly accusing US of dodgy financials (hahahahaha) reminds me of how cheaters act in relationships. It's always the ones who are cheating on their partners that are the most defensive, jealous and accusatory... precisely because they're guilty of it themselves.

It’s like they’re blind to the fact that they’ve been a big part of sportwashing and they genuinely believe they’ve just worked hard to get to where they are. It’s crazy.

My takeaways:

Arsenal fans seem jealous bitter and are consumed by their own argument over Arteta. Fair enough.

Man City. Lord Almighty what a load of utterly thick morons. They have no understanding of anything to do with football finance. They have no idea why everyone hates them. They don't even understand how their own club is run.

Liverpool fans... Erm, strangely ok. Most of them making astute points. I don't expect them to like us, but they seem to get what's happening and why.

The City fans to me are the weirdest, hardly a comment posted that shows any understanding of even their own club. It’s almost like Man City are Man United with a huge history and fanbase not a little club given billions. I would expect those comments to be from United fans not City. The United fans mostly seem level headed as well.

With the 2021 Summer transfer window in full flow, many goalkeepers have already made moves in this window.
Tom Heaton has signed for Manchester United, Mat Ryan for Real Sociedad & Donnarumma is expected to complete his move to PSG in the coming days.
Below, we took a look at the most expensive goalkeepers of all time!

5. Gianluigi Buffon – £32.6m

Expensive goalkeeper

It was in 2001 when Buffon made his record breaking move from Parma to Juventus. The legendary goalkeeper was only 23 when he first signed for the Italian giants, and the rest is history. Buffon has now gone full circle, after finalising the deal which would see him return to boyhood club, Parma.

4. Ederson – £34.7m

DSC06107-edited-scaled.jpg

Ederson became the most expensive goalkeeper in the world in 2017, signing for Manchester City from Benfica. 4 years down the line and the Brazilian has now established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

3. Thibaut Courtois – £35m

courtois-edited.jpg

Real Madrid snapped Courtois up in 2018 after a number of good years at London based club, Chelsea. The Belgian had his heart set on a move to Los Blancos and wanted to be closer to his family. During his time at the club he has so far won La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup & the Club World Cup.

2. Alisson – £65m

Allison-Becker-LFC-4-edited.jpg

Liverpool smashed the record in 2018 to capture Alisson’s signature from Roma. Jürgen Klopp was eager to strengthen the goalkeeper position after a disappointing end to their Champions League campaign in the previous season. This record was short lived though, as Premier League rivals, Chelsea soon broke it again.

1. Kepa Arrizabalaga – £71m

Storelli_Kepa_01_1484-4x5-adidas-edited-scaled.jpg

In 2018 Kepa Arrizabalaga gained the title of the most expensive goalkeeper of all time. The Spaniard made his move to Chelsea from La Liga side, Athletic Bilbao. The £71 million fee, remains the highest that has ever been paid for a goalkeeper to this day.

Incredible. Won the title in 5 of the last 7 full seasons he's managed at a domestic level. I wonder what this lad thinks is a good domestic record

Just saw this on Twitter from a Chelsea fan and have to say seeing their panic makes my weekend ?

“Spurs are closing in on PERISIC why are we letting them do this? Why are not looking at Bastoni for LCB too?? Conte and spurs will over take us at this point.”

  • I've no issue with it but I bet they don't get the same criticism we get for spending
  • Quite the opposite, they will be praised for it
  • expand...interesting...would that be the Ton-fifty that they were begging off us for Kane?...I get the impression that they need to balance the books.
  • Exactly, I doubt it will be spent in the transfer market
  • expand...How is it possible within FFP?
  • will probably go to off field activities debt on the ground and such things.
  • It's either that or the daft rags are stumping up 150 mill for Arry
  • So why don’t all clubs who have owners who want to invest do that?
  • Because it doesn't make any difference to ffp, they still have to spend what they earn plus the allowed losses.
  • Ok, so what use does injecting £150m into Spurs actually do?
  • They could pay off debts which were incurring interest.
  • They could use it for thing which don't come under ffp like stadium improvements.
  • Levy making promises to a manager again and likely to not deliver again.
  • Not saying it is highly likely but I honestly would not be surprised if Conte left at some point before September. He is a good manager who deserves to be at a bigger club.
  • Borrowings from owners are on the balance sheet, not subject ffp. You can use them for transfers. See Chelsea. Mansour lent us about £750m, which he swapped for equity.
  • Allows them to bring in a handful of good but not great players, leading to unrealistic offseason expectations which they will predictably fail to meet on their way to sacking their manager by Christmas, finishing trophy-less, and landing somewhere between 4th-8th in the tableThe Spurs way
  • expand...We know how this plays out. Levy to selling club July 1st "I know you want 50M but I'll give you 25M". Selling Club "No, its 50M" Levy to selling club Sept 1st - day the transfer window closes "Ok, make it 27.5M". Sept 2nd Conte quits
  • Tots 150 mil to spend, overwhelmingly positive reaction in the media.City spend 51 mil on Haarland, ruining football.
  • Were they not in for Diaz for £80 million and he ended up for Liverpool for half that figure? If that’s their business acumen I don’t see this money they have invested going very far on helping them improve.
  • If this were City, it would be 'financial doping'. As it's not, it's OK.
  • how much do they owe on the ground?
  • Spuds will be rinsed, Levy won’t be able to handle it. As well as us strengthening, the Rags will be paying big bucks to rebuild along with the Chavs who have been promised £175m per season by the new owners. Add in Arsenal, Newcastle, Real Madrid, Barca, PSG and others £150m won’t get them far and they have to cough up for Becantour and the Kuve fella. Enjoy the 4th place Spuds with the CL participation, the one good thing for them is they’ll probably avoid Atletico as both will end up in Pot 2 of the CL.
  • Hope they get rinsed for 3 mediocre players the twats

City will probably spend more on the Haaland deal than we spend all summer. Let's see when the window closes what the cost of the City squad is vs what the cost of ours is. Then let's see what the gap is between the 2 at the end of the season.

Arsemania

Everyone laughs at Kane for staying at spuds so long and not winning anything, which is very tbf, but flip it round, gotta give spuds huge credit for holding onto him for so long. World class homegrown player and they could feasibly get him to stay his whole career, despite them not winning anything or being a top tier club. Arsenal have never actually managed to hold onto a world class player their whole career in the modern era, not since Adams really.

Or you could flip that argument again and say that all our players left because they had serious ambitions and wanted to win as much as they could in their career. Fair play to Sp**s for holding onto him. However, you've got to seriously question Kanes ambitions when he's 29 this summer and hasn't a trophy to his name, despite being considered the best striker in the country. It just reeks of wanting to be the big fish in the small pond.

I think that’s a lazy way of looking at it though, Kane was enthused by the Poch project but ever since they lost CL final and Poch left I imagine Kane has wanted to leave. The main reason he hasn’t is cos Levy has his balls in a vice and wanted 150 million for him. We let Cesc go for like 25m? We’re a weak club when it comes to contracts and transfers.

Not sure why Liverpool fans talking about Kane so much is there real interest?

Oh my God PLEASE let me see some more interviews with Kane twerking for a move. Interesting though, Liverpool need to do something to counter the Haaland move if they want to carry on competing.

If Liverpool interested real Kane might move but i think it just silly rumors he stuck at Sp**s forever

It's as if you didn't live through last summer.

Seeing the news that Conte is staying 1 more season with Sp**s it'll be broken promise lol.

Sp**s and chelsea specially Sp**s are very interested in Perisic. player will make decision in Monday.

Remember in 2019 when Arsemania turned their noses at signing Perisic because we had Iwobi?

Good business by Conte by bringing in experience. I think he’ll slot him in at wing back.

Not having it. If we made top 4 and signed a 33 year old wing back from Serie A I’d be miffed.

Haven’t really seen much of him lately, so I’m just basing off what Inter Milan fans have been saying and he’s apparently been one of their better players this season. Surely he can’t be worse than Reguillon or Sessegnon? Got a feeling that their first choice was most likely Cucurella but it would be hard to convince him with City/Chelsea lurking.

Not sure if they’ll go big for other areas of the pitch since they still have to secure the permanent transfers for Kulusevski and Romero. :banghead:

Perisic is good player he used as wingback and conte will use him as wingback the problem he is old and PL not serie A speed wise. as squad option it's okay signing.

this is conte for you he just want to win now so when he leave whatever the situation Sp**s will find themselves with squad full of 27 plus years old players.

Free transfer though to be fair. Big fan of Perisic he’s quality

Forster and Perisic. Dreams can come true with UCL football.

Really surprised Sp**s not trying to upgrade on lloris he good shot stopper but so bad with ball. Forster even worse he always have great game against us.

What a signing for Sp**s. Perisic will fit seamlessly into the LWB slot adding experience, goals and assists. Top signing.

Unfortunately, Perisic probably adapt as well as Kulu has. I'm disgusted because I don't think he'll be a flop.
