It’s come to my conclusion that most football fans are just incredibly thick. I used to think it’s was just club bias that clouded them

I tried to have a sensible conversation with my brother in law (hammer) on why he hates spurs. Once I got past the “because it’s Spurs” argument, which isn’t an argument then he proceeded to tell me it’s because Spurs are self entitled, think they are owed being in a big 6 etc.

I politely asked him to check the PL tables from at least the last 10 years. Then the general look of the football league and FA Cups from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s

He claimed we were “just like Newcastle”

he’s also unvaccinated because he thinks the government is trying to poison us all.
Not sorry, He is a **** then!

Red cafe is a fun read.
They are all so gutted they didn’t get conte
Obviously Neville wouldn't have had an influence but when he's peddling lines like "He's not a good fit" then you have to suspect someone on the inside was telling him that they were looking for a 'philosophy' type coach rather than a coach who'd come in and look to win stuff and move on.

But that's exactly what they needed! Like Carrager rightly said "What was the point in signing Ronaldo?" The team should be winning now, not taking 6 months to get adjusted to a system then cherry pick the next guy.

That doesn't really work at elite clubs because you are never afforded the time to build that way and besides hadn't Solskjaer been building a squad that had the right mentality anyway?

I don't think any United fan should have any short term optimism because this is something that will take time to bed in and they probably won't reap the real rewards from it until a new coach comes in and has had real time on the training field and some of the 'ego' players are gone.

I actually ventured onto Kumb. They were mocking our attendance, yet the London stadium looked a lot emptier than ours.
I only tuned in for the last 10 minutes of their game (after ours went in to injury time), and it definitely looked like theirs was emptier. So to use that as a stick to beat us is embarrassing to say the least.

We've submitted our attendance at around 40k, or two-thirds full, on Saturday which looked about right watching it on TV. As far as I can find West Ham didn't lodge an official attendance.

  • we're not making it. Straight fight between spurs and arsenal.
  • Conte led Spurs will be our biggest rival for 4th spot.
  • Spurs are doing well....but do they ever play away anymore
  • The only thing that works in Spurs favour is conte has a decent record against top 4 opponents in comparison to arteta
  • Top four for us a pipe dream on the performance at Newcastle
  • I mean our squad is easily ahead of Arsenal and Spurs on paper, but yeah we look dreadful
  • no chance that Arsenal/Spurs have more quality that United. The problem has been the lack of coaching for the last 3 years. We should have gotten in Conte to whip these players into shape, but quality wise? We have far more than Arsenal and Spurs.
  • i think they look better and are playing better stuff. Better coached, why Utd didnt get Conte is baffling. And i refuse to believe G Nev would have preferred Ralf over Conte, either, after his comments about Conte not fitting Utd
  • Conte Spurs are biggest threat despite their tough fixture list. Arsenal, I expect to regress to mean soon enough. Arteta is on a run of games we ourselves have had under Ole, ultimately it's going to end one way. We just have to pick up points in next 3 and get back into the mix. Also, how did so many Arsenal fans spawn on here in space of few weeks? It's actually pathetic how active opposition fans get when their team get on a good run
  • Spurs have gone from having running stats of the 20th in the league to 1st. Contes impact can’t be understated.
  • If you ever need a blueprint on what a difference quality coaching makes, the difference in the same Spurs players between Nuno and Conte should be used everytime
  • Who could've predicted that a multiple title winning manager would fare better than a Championship one.
  • He only had home games so far but if they pick up 6 points in the next two games I strongly believe they will finish top 4. Sensational work with the likes of Skipp, Moura, Sanchez though
  • Im genuinely of the opinion if we got him in and gave him the budget/players he wanted - we’d win the league next season
  • Spurs have done this before, upgraded Ramos for Redknapp
  • They are going to need quality midfielders and maybe a GK if Lloris wants a change
  • They're not really that far away from Chelsea and they played 3 less games. I can them hovering around 3rd next season with proper investment.
  • Lads they beat a 10 man palace at home, don't get ahead of yourselves
  • I knew Conte would do a good job for anyone who hired him.
  • Anyway Conte is an excellent manager that he will do well in man utd and arsenal for sure. Spurs strike gold to have him as manager.
  • I'm so bloody scared about Conte. I'm not really crying about him being our manager - but it's more that I don't see us being able to get top 4 over him this season, never mind what he achieves with spurs next season. Whilst I know its extremely extremely unlikely - I do have a bit of fear that Tottenham are 2 transfer windows away from maybe even doing the impossible. Conte is a winner and the only way I see him not doing that with Tottenham is - maybe Tottenham being Tottenham and not being able to get/attract the right player Conte has on his mind.
  • With proper funds I can see Spurs winning the league next season. And this season we probably wont get top 4 all thanks to not going for Conte and him now being at Spurs. Frustrating.
  • It's just crazy anyway - Man City have Pep, Liverpool have Klopp, Chelsea have Tuchel, Spurs have Conte - who exactly are we going to get that can compete with those 4 next season?
  • Wow. The Conte love in is massive on here. Personally, I don’t like him as a man, don’t like his style of football and am glad we didn’t hire him. Kinda suits Tottenham though!
  • It just feels like because we didn't do the right thing back then on the international break and brought him, it will hunt us some how in the top four battle
  • It's really a bad situation right now, really really bad
  • Spurs drawing with Liverpool that made me feel uncomfortable first followed by just these solid easy wins against the smaller clubs. How they have mote matches postponed than anyone else. Then I see how he has started to get Kane in to some bit of form. How some commentators are saying that Dier is looking a better player in a back 3. Son seems to be scoring regularly and Lucas has started to do well. If Pochettino was able to beat us to top 4 then I'm not sure why exactly Conte couldn't. Anyway, Let's just see how it pans out. Even though I opened up to the idea; I'm not a fan that was crying out for Conte as our manager (because I dislike his Lukaku, Ashley Young type of player) - but that doesn't mean I don't think he is good manager, especially for other clubs.
  • Spurs are certainly within a chance to get there this or next season. It’s the overreaction of suddenly seeing them as title contenders when they were barely top 6 quality weeks ago
  • I'm hugely impressed with the work Conte has done so far, he is doing an incredible job
  • Yep, best thing that’s happened to Spurs in years, easy to see why he’s widely regarded as an elite manager.Tough assignment taking on Spurs and will need successful transfer business
  • The "proper funds" Spurs would need to win the league next season would bankrupt Elon Musk and Warren Buffett. They're improving under Conte of course but steady on
  • Anyone that can make Deli Alli and Dier look good again, has some serious mojo. Motivating Kane to care again also good stuff.
  • Me neither. Rangnick is a very good choice, but Conte a few weeks earlier would have made top 4 a certainty next season. Some of the “he’s Mourinho MK2“ comments were embarrassing. His football is absolutely nothing like Mourinho’s, nor is his personality.

Most people dont care about getting the sniffles and a cough.
We’ll, 22k spurs fans clearly did yesterday. And it’s more than sniffles and a cough, especially to those with elderly relatives or vulnerable family members they want to see over Christmas.

Plus not knowing whether the game was on and having to make plans to drive. Fans coming from outside of London would have had to leave before the confirmation came through. After the Burnley game, maybe they figured it wasn't worth the risk.

Foxes Talk
  • Sick seeing both Spurs and Arsenal cementing themselves in the top 5
  • Conte has done wonders at Spurs even through he's hasn't got the chance to buy anyone yet, really makes me feel sick!
  • Spurs and West Ham half empty
  • Conte has a pure alpha-male, winner mentality despite being a small Italian man in a wig.
  • Spurs playing only 1 game a week massively benefits them
  • Tottenham need a player just behind the likes of Son and Kane to create chances.

Last bullet point would make such a big difference to our season.

I’m amazed the stadiums are not even more empty with Covid and transport problems. Especially with games on TV.
It’s almost like they are proud that they have more Civid Deniers than any other club.

Poor journalism claiming the game was off, didn't help the attendance.

Don't be a dick.
People are clearly being sensible about what can be a serious virus to some.
Just because you appear to think you're invincible, doesn't mean everyone else does.

Plus, having had it, I can attest to the fact that it's more than "sniffles and a cough".

I wasn’t going to go anyway (first time seeing family since pre covid) but there were no trains running to London from my little town anyway, so couldn’t have even if I tried!

I had it in 2020 and I still haven't recovered. I'm on my 5th asthma treatment? Can't get it under control.

Also, my sisters friend who works at A&E was a marathon runner. Now he can't run because covid lead to him having heart problems.

I wish it were the sniffles.

Whoever that person is on the inside (if one exists) is wrong. Di Marzio has already confirmed that Utd wanted Conte in the summer, however he wasn't prepared to wait that long.

You've obviously not had this one then, I know three people with it all in their 30's or 40's and it's knocked them off their feet, literally spending days in bed.

Interesting that our running stats have gone from 20th to 1st. Does that tell us more about the previous coach or the players?
