Saw a report saying azpilicueta and Alonso have agreed terms with Barcelona and want to leave. And another saying de ligt was possibly heading towards Bayern.. could all go very tits up for them yet...
Yeah it could but we’ll see. If they don’t sort out their cbs they could be very weak

That last comment on Arsemania is so deluded.

Bissouma and Richarlison are top PL performers aged 25, key men at their clubs. They are major signings and can't just be shaken off. I personally think Bissouma especially takes our midfield up a level.

Perisic is playing out of his skin at LWB and is on short term deal for a reasonable outlay. It's an ambitious signing, I'm tired of talking about sell on value. Our other LWB is 21 years old and still developing anyway.

Forster is a backup goalkeeper. No point signing an expensive Hugo successor and then benching them.

Lenglet is a loan that could potentially pay off big time. Nothing wrong with an opportunistic signing and we may well still sign another CB this summer.

They are so obsessed with young players as they simply don't have anyone that is top class and in their prime.

I've never been more confident that we are clear of them, from manager through to the whole squad.

It seems having a young squad is their new go to. Don't mention the average age of the "draw a lottables", aka the "invincibles". Average age of that team was 31

There are two recurring themes in what Arsenal fans are saying (on the internet at least):

1: The age thing - which is effectively a way of saying, “Yeah they’re good today, but we’ll be good tomorrow!”
2: Trying to find moral victories (e.g. deriding others’ spending on win-now signings or overplaying/overstating the Bissouma thing)

Each of these things is pure deflection from their growing realisation that their immediate/short-term prospects are a bit meh. That Arteta and Edu have convinced most of them that this is all hunky-dory and part of a plan (despite wasting a great chance to get back into the UCL last season) is sorcery!

It's just a football fan's attempt to put some spin on it, but it just ended up being a dead straight slow ball that was begging to be hit for 6.

The goalposts move for them whenever we have something to claim. We haven't won a trophy in x years, but they'll bring up the past every chance they get. We beat them in a match and in league places, oh they're at the start of their project - "trust the process".

It's never about the here and now. And the here and now we are building a league challenging squad under a world class manager, while they are trusting Pep's cone guy. Jesus won't get more than 20 in all competitions. Vieira may come good, but that's down the line. Not what they need now. And Turner? Because Ramsdale worked out so well.

With a Conte pre-season and a full season with 5 signings already in the bag, we're finishing above them and be clear of them come next May mark my words.

The overreaction, both positively and negatively, to a pre-season game is hilarious.

When will football fans learn that pre-season means fuck all? Never falling for that again after the 5-0 against Roma followed by the worst league start in a century.

Seem to have daily 'discussions' with Assana fans on Twitter now.... they obvious fall back on historical domestic success. Fair enough. Can't deny that. My stock response has become:

Be honest, are you happy with years of being a poorer team than Spurs? Historically youve been very successful domestically but had zero impact in Europe. Today, you cannot deny, Spurs have a better manager, better players, better stadium and are in a stronger financial position. #FACTS

I know this is the "what our opponents are saying" thread but I am really not bothered by what Arsenal fans are saying about us.

They are really brainwashed and deluded. Trust the process?!? What process? The process of stagnating and taking a team backwards. They are actually weaker than when Lego Man took over. Their young players are developing in a team that has no obvious leadership and they are learning how to be brittle from a manager that is grossly inexperienced for the nature and size of club he's managing. This young team, in it's current state will not do better than last season's 5th place. I expect to see them fall back and Arteta to get the sack at the end of the season when their fans start waking up.

The latest response from a gooner:

Of course I’m not happy that we have finished below the neighbours, I can only imagine how that felt to do so for 20 years in a row. As for European impact, we have the same number of Champions League finals under our belt and we lasted longer than 16 seconds in ours.

So had to remind him that in fact Tottenham have more European trophies than Arsenal... :)

you'd have thought that after last season arsenal fans would be keeping a low profile but they seem to have gone the other way instead.

Most Arsenal fans are complete morons. That’s about all there is to it.

Not sure why people get too het up about what they’re yammering on about as it’s mostly irrelevant, made up, contorted, conflated drivel that has no bearing on reality.

Certain things they argue aren’t even arguments.

In the here and now, ask any football fan that doesn’t support Arsenal who has better first 11, squad, stadium, manager, infrastructure, blah blah blah, whatever metric you want to use, vs Tottenham and the result will always be Tottenham.

Arsenal are an irrelevance. Absolute clown club from top to bottom, and probably the weirdest fans of any Premier League side going.

It’s like the old saying goes:

Never argue with a stupid person. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Fucking social media FC.

Puff Adders are generally known for their aggressive attitudes. However, these misunderstood reptiles are frequently acting in a purely defensive manner. Puff adders of the bitis genus take in massive quantities of hot air and create a substantial amount of noise. Their flexible and stretchy skin will dramatically increase in size to scare off perceived predators. As you may have guessed, the name itself, “puff adder,” directly refers to their self-inflation behavior. Phony strikes, violent sounds, and body shaking combine with the inflation prior to a physical strike however in isolation these animals are usually harmless and pose little threat.

Now switch Puff Adder for Gooner

They can also safely say they have 19 years of failure in Wenger's prized target competition

I remember the team they had with fagregas etc under wenger, it was always just chat around how young they are and next season they will win the league and they never did. Young sides are great in theory but you need quality and experience around them and to remember that to keep the side together is difficult

We have rebuilt twice since they last finished above us.

And like I tell my scum supporting students at school, you were in primary school the last time you played in the champions league!

We have been better than them for 6 years and I suspect that we will remain so for at least the next 2 or 3, so let's enjoy it!

F**k 'em!

Did anyone clip the comment from the kick off about Son wanting to leave. He says it so seriously and true Geordie is like “ what “. Genuinely one of the worst takes I’ve ever seen.
