2 Goals in the last 11 for Keane is hardly the strike rate that befits a first choice Spurs striker.

He seems to have gone off the boil since JDs departure and I am beginning to wonder if he needed that competition from Defoe to Spur him on.

Meanwhile the little man, finally feeling cherished and loved on the south coast has gone on to score 10 in the same amount of games.

To be honest I have never been Keanes biggest fan, I think he is wasteful in possession and will often try the difficult stuff rather than keeping an attacking move alive, added to that his heading ability and lack of tackling back leaves me slightly cold about the swashbuckling Irishman.

His goal tally this season has been impressive, however Berba has scored as many and has more assists to boot. The defining factor for me however is, if I had a choice of paying to watch one or the other I know which I would chose.

I can only assume Keane was voted SC player of the season because of the 100 goals for Spurs landmark he has reached.......

The margin he won by, however, I do find absolutely astounding

he is not the player of the season, but then no one really grabbed that mantle, and he is kinda ''mr spurs'' especially since ledley has not been figuring so much the last couple of years, i guess that's why people feel the need to rig the vote, or vote or, whatever

KEANOOOOOOOO

i think ghaly would have got it if he hadnt been shipped out imho

He's gone off the boil a bit. Time to give young Darren a run. he's outscored him recently - from the bench too.

Oh but I forgot, he's apprently shit.

Eh, Keane runs himself into the ground chasing the ball for us. I do support Bent replacing him and him getting a rest though.

Agreed he chases the ball but that is not what I said. Standing infront of the man is different to tackling back.

  • We can see everyone who voted.
  • People can only vote once.
  • If logging in with a second account it's detected automatically.
  • To "rig" it, someone would need hundreds of dummy accounts which would have had to avoid detection.
  • Also as there haven't been hundreds of accounts recently, these would have had to be around for a very long time in advance.
To put it short, the only people who could rig it are me, A&C, Geez or PT. Are you accusing us of cheating, if so please let me know :)

Personally I dont believe it was rigged.

I can only assume it was a combination of the vote being held too early in the season and the "lemming mentality"

yes but Keane has had his best season for us, and Berba did take a while to heat up while Steed and Keane held the club afloat. Berba is certainly are best player, but not "player of the season" anyway, the reason why Keane got such a high majoraty is that keane was 1st in most peoples mind, if we realy wanted to be acurate you should realy give a mark out of 10 or out of 100 for each player and then work out the mean for each player. If we did this then it could of well been that Berba would become the player of the season. Unfortunatly we dont do things like this, well barly ever, however next season I will be able to give you with my game to game system Im gonna use my acurate player of the season and not just the player who I think played the best but I could be wrong!

Correction Keane has had his best start to the season with us. Berba has still been head and shoulders above him though.

I can see your thinking about malbranque but if you are going along those lines it should be a "most improved player award".

Back to my original point:

Berba has scored as many goals (including the one in the cup final)

He has got more assists.

He has been less wasteful in possession.

He has been more enjoyable to watch.

And all because Keane sheds a tear in a cup final and eventually hit his 100 (Berba on current form will do it in two less seasons) he appears to have got the sympathy vote. :violin:

Very very weird.

yes but berba was asleep at the start, hes had a lot of off games and just isnt the "player of the season" (in my view) and like I said Berba could be the player of the season if we did a more acurate tally, i.e. what I explained above. But Berba just wasnt there when we needed him the most, while Keane was, I didnt vote for Keane BTW. Steeed all the way, but I accsept in most peoples eyes it is not steeeed. Anyway Keane has scored an average of 17 goals a season which is good, berba actually mins on the pitch in the last 2 years has scored less then Keane, berba on current form will take 3 more seasons if thats what you ment. unfortunatly hes not gonna retain this form he will grow older and not score as much, Still Berba is pure class!!

If Berba was asleep at the start, Keane is in a virtual coma at the moment!!

Berba will have 50 Spurs goals by the close of his second season which means he should have 100 by his fourth (lol at your getting older comment BTW). That is 2 seasons ahead of RKs 6 to get to his 100.

I am still struggling to understand the weird hero worship of such an average player.

 sorry you make me laugh I for one do not worship him, and Ive explained that its more then likely that Berba was the player of the season its just we can not prove it, because it will far to problematic for the admins if we did it propperly anyway read my post above the last one I posted. Im not disagring with you!!!

No struggle to understand where your bias is rooted, however. So JD's feeling loved and cherished on the South Coast? Awww, sweet. Bless his lickle cotton socks. Maybe he feels at home. He was awesome for Bournemouth.

It's no secret that Keane has thrived and hit his best form with Berbatov, but lets not talk as if he was shit before he came to Spurs.

Plus, in Keane's first two seasons, we were hardly immense. When Berbatov joined we were already playing good football, with a 5th placed finish behind us. They joined totally different teams, and that has a factor in why Berbatov could hit 100 goals in a shorter time.

Berbatov is clearly one of the most talented players in the world. But you cannot use that to take away from Keane, he has excelled beyond all expectation in the past 2 years. Lest you forget the amount of goals he scored in 2007 - more than any other player in the country.

The same sentiments used to hero worship players as heroic and worshipful as Tano Tarricho, Steffen Freund, Tony Galvin, Graham Roberts et al.

All the above would never pull up trees when compared to flair such as Berbs but you can bet they'd have been first, if not second on the team sheet.

I would also put Keane on a par with Tarrico and Freund.

None of which would be first, second or third on my team sheet.

It's somewhat bizarre to call people 'lemming's just because we share an opinion! Keano got my vote because for me at the time of voting he had been the most consistent player. Sure, Berba has moments of magic, King is a hero, and Woodgate has been magnificent but I didn't see it right to vote for a man who's hardly played, just joined or rarely in it.

I didn't vote for Keano because he 'shed a few tears' but because his dedication, ability and consistency in the earlier part of this season (i.e. before the vote ended) have been the best of the bunch imo.

I'm not saying he's been perfect or 100% consistent, but of the options he was the most of both things.
