I really wish we could sign up the psychopathic Lorik Cana - he would add a bit of steel to our powder-puff midfield. We'd have to give up on the potential fair-play route to Europe, however.

In spite of his thugish side, he's actually quite a technically skillful player.

Plus if we had Cana it would continue our apparent tradition of having the best player from each south-eastern European nation.

Poulsen would be good.

Torsten Frings really impressed my yesterday, would love it if we bought him.

I have not got enough knowledge to comment on the majority of the players being mentioned - I just wonder how Zoko and Modric would gel. I think Modric is much better than Jenas/Huddlestone in passing/movement/linking to the strikers, and seems comfortable on the ball, I just wonder whether this will help restrict Zoko from flying forward and trying to help the attack? It may be that he can become more disciplined in his work?

Just a thought and I expect to be shot down!!

i will forever remember him elbowing unashamedly the american in the italy v usa game at the last world cup that had 5 or 6 sendings off. and this was awful, nearly as bad as thatcher on mendes

De Rossi did nothing. McBride just cuts up easily like Hatton.

I'd still like him. That was many moons ago. I'm sure he's calmed down a bit. I don't recall Perotta being a prima donna though. I thought he's been good this season.

frings is untouchable at werder and we wouldnt go for someone so old unfortunately. has said he will see out his career there.

poulsen i would have thought would be ramos' first choice if he feels we need a DM but again this is highly unlikely imo due to who he plays for...

This year he had 11 yellows and no reds. Probably deserved more - he's one of those players who is good at committing fouls just below bookable level.

But that's what these guys do...Gattuso also had 11 yellows this season, for example (Gattuso being the prototypical midfield destroyer, I guess)

From our current crop

_________Robinson
Hutton Woodgate King Bale
____Huddlestone Jenas
Dos Santos Modric Lennon
_________Berbatov

Allnwick
Dawson
Gunter
O'Hara
Taarabt
Keane
Bent

I agree with something along the lines of this. With our signings to date i'm convinced that we'll be playing this type of system. Not sure if Lennon will be a starter but he'll be in and around there.

With this formation I wouldn't count out Zokora or maybe even O'Hara in the defensive midfield role. We just need 2 players in there to sit deep and distribute the ball to the attacking quartet.

de rossi has calmed down a bit but that wasn't the only time i've seen him swing an elbow, and he likes his high challenges too. the roma midfielder i love (though no point now that we have modric) is aquilani. as for perotta, he just reminds me so much of nicola berti its' untrue. undoubtedly a good player but tried things beyond his means. anyway, he's not particularly defensive in nature.

For central midfield I ideally would want Toulalan, but would be happy with either of Poulsen, Biglia, Fellaini.

Would love us to get Hernanes too he is awesome

I agree there doesn't seem to be a great deal of DM's out there at the moment, what with Veloso being basically priced out of a move as well know, no wonder there is a lack of ITK in that area.

Most good, experienced DM seem to be getting a bit old, but i would have though that either Edmilson or Senna from Villareal would be available.
