Who is going to play next to Luka ? I don't think we have anyone good enough right now. Jenas and Hudd are both better offensively than as DM . Tainio is clearly on his way out and Zokora is .... well, Zokora.

As many have pointed out we need someone with physical attributes to balance our smaller players . Diarra is not right for that reason ... who else is out there and available ?

We've been linked to Gattuso a few times and I'd like to see him be the final big signing this Summer.

We still need a CD though . And maybe another striker too. What about Mikel as DM ? Or if Berbs goes to Manure maybe we could pick up Hargreaves.

I don't understand the fuss over Hargreaves. No better than Malbranque in terms of workrate and Carrick is much better on the ball.

Would quite like Essien but the chance of getting him is very slim.

I personally don't think Berba will go this Summer so upfront we're sound. Not sure who we should go for as a Ledley back up.

A GK is needed obviously. McGregor probably being the most likely.

Our priority should be a competent / experience goalkeeper and preferably a younger understudy.

We should then go for an experienced CD to cover for King / Woody

If we still have funds / time remaining, then we can use it on a top DM. Its pointless just getting an average DM.

From our current squad (incl. of the newbies), we can play -

LM - Modric or Steed (or O'Hara / Gilberto)

AM - Hud or Steed

DM - Kaboul or Zokora

RM - Giovani or Lennon

If we kicked off the season today, i would like to see us line-up like so:

Robinson

Hutton King Woodgate Bale

Huddlestone

Jenas Modric

Dos Santos Keane
Berbatov

Ideally i'd like a different Holding midfielder, but i plumped for Huddlestone just because of his height & shear size.

What is this obsession people have with wanting Kaboul in midfield? He's a defender....

we would have no chance in hell of picking up hargreaves. i dont think we would have much chance with mikel but i think we would be a great buy.he plays well in the dm roll and is also big and tall which is something we are missing.as for modric i still think he will play from the left hand side.

maybe ramos is sticking with the 442 and is prepared to use 2 box to box players in the middle. these could be jenas and modric.

time will tell...

Can someone please explain to me (as the only time I watch Spanish football is down the pub and tbh don't pay too much attention) what is Dos Santos/Modrics favorite position? Also what system did Ramos prefer at Seville? I hear eveyone saying we should go 433 or 4231 can someone tell me definitively what system he prefers as I thought he liked 442. This then might give us an idea of who we'll be after.

Ramos used the 4-4-2 formation most of the time at Sevilla, with 2 wingers.
Dos Santos used to play as a wide 3 striker or, as in his last game for them when he scored a hat-trick, in a 3-mans MF.

I think the great thing about out two signings is that they can play anywhere across the midfield, and their creative qualities will come through whether they are in the middle, on the right or on the left. I think their best positions are in the hole behind the strikers although by the looks of the clips on youtube both of them have been used on the left frequently by club and country.

At seville ramos played a 4-2-2-2 with 2 deep lying midfielders with extremely attacking wingers and fullbacks. As for what formation ramos is going to play next season your guess is as good as ours. I think one thing can be certain is that we are going to sign a defensive midfielder and a goalkeeper this summer but that will still leave no clues as to what we are going to play next season

Motta is on a free this summer so that could be a choice and if everyone wants us to sign a back up for leds does that mean u want to see daws and younes sold because IMO daws would do well as a back up with woodgate and i dont think woody and younes have ever played together so i cant judge on that

Whilst I agree that Hudd is better AM that DM, I think he can do a fine DM job!!

Cheers for the info chaps, doesn't really help meunderstand who the starting line up will be next season though.
Will Bale be left back with Modric/Dos Santos in front and Gilberto on the bench? Will Ekoto (been so long can't remember how to spell his name) finally be put down? Has Dawson/Kaboul any future at the club? Did Jenas/Lennon do enough to warrent a starting place. Who's going to be the GK.

I don't think I've ever seen such an overhaul at Spurs. The difference between August 07 and August 08 will be emense. Hope that we can gell and that it is all for the good.

I would quite to see this given a go. Not necessarily as the default formation but one in the toolbag. Shades of 1987 with so many attack minded players. We would just have to hope we never lost the ball because it might take us 15 minutes to get it back again:)
