Agree to disagree but I think you're nuts. O'Hara has shown that he has some good attributes in his sparing appearences, but I don;t think he can touch the Hudd to allround talent & I do think Huddlestone's tackles and breakup play are often overlooked.

I would rather Hudd than o'hara any day

Taarabt is a joke, couldn't pass a ball even if his life depended on it.

Those cursed stats say that Taarabt made 18 passes, 94% of them successful. All in all, I'd say that suggests he can pass a ball, even if his life doesn't depend on it. And rather well, too.

If you said he needs to learn when to pass and when not to try the clever stuff, you'd be on far safer ground.

By the same token, I don't know why people are rubbishing O'Hara, either. He's a CM, not a LB. I'm not convinced he'll be any more than a useful squad player, but I'm certainly not going to pass definitive judgement at this stage. And if he becomes an O'Shea or Fletcher rather than a Scholes, so what? There aren't many teams that can do without their ubiquitous journeymen.

Keep both Taarabt and O Hara both are young and have potential.
Keep Jenas sell Zokora.
Sell Rocha, Lee and Chimbonda, along with Salty Murphy and Ghaly. Oh and BAE
Robbo probably will be replaced.
Tainio will go too

most of the players we are arguing about are good enough as squad player but we need quality players to replace them in the starting lineups. ie ohara, dawson, zokora.

Others are too young to cast out. Taarabt, hudd, lennon, kaboul. These are the 4 big young talents at the club and need to be nurtured. These 4 have infinitely more potential than players in their current positions, ohara, zokora, dawson, steed.

To go: stalteri, gardner, lee, tainio, ghaly, robbo, cerny, rocha
To stay: BAE, chimbo (we aint gonna get a better back up) and the rest above.

I think that our poor form early on in the season is the main cause of our poor form now. In the Carling Cup we put in some very good performances, beating 2 of the top 4 on the way. When there is something to play for our players proved that they are good enough to achieve it. The problem now could be that they lack the motivation to put in the kind of performances that we've seen in previous games. Maybe I'm way off the mark, but watching the game last night it felt like the season was over and this extra game was a pit of a pain in the arse.
Winning the Carling Cup was a great achievement, but I really hope that the players get their heads right for the last few games of the season. We have the potential to finish with a flourish, but whatever hapens, after our fun and games in the "let's all laugh at Newcastle" thread I really hope we finish above them.

if we really wan't to challenge for a CL place then we can't keep average players !!!

to go for sure :

Robbo
Cerny ( contract )
AG
Rocha ( not rated by Ramos )
Ghaly
Lee ( not rated by Ramos )
Stalteri
KPB ( was either the Hudd or KPB, prefer we don't sell the Hudd, we don't need both however and more funds for Ramos the better )

Steed ( sorry work rate alone is not enough if we are serious about challenging the top4, though if we were to only use him off the bench to try to hold a lead and make use of the only ability he has ( workrate/tackling ), can drop him to the 'offer too good to turn down' section )

O'Hara ( I like him and think he will make it in the EPL, he is only mid table quality though, where we do not wan't to be, same situation as Steed )

players to go if we get an offer too good to turn down :

Dawson/Kaboul ( only one to go, if we decide to sell any of these two )

Huddlestone/Jenas ( same as above )
Zokora
Bent
Chimbo
Tainio
BAE ( haven't seen enough of him to put him in the 'to go' list and not sure what Ramos thinks of him, where as Lee is not rated, doubt we will sell both )

not for sale :

Woody
King
Hutton
Keane
Berbs
Lennon ( still young, if he still hasn't improved his final ball by the end of next season then listen to offers, would be stupid to sell him now though )

well this is how I feel

Would like to see:

GK: Robbo, NEW GK, Alnwick
RB: Hutton, Chimbonda, Gunter
LB: Bale, Gilberto
CB: King, Woodgate, Dawson, Kaboul, NEW CB
RM: Lennon, NEW RM
LM: NEW LM, Malbranque
CM: NEW CM, Huddlestone, Jenas, Zokora, Tainio
ST: Berbatov, Keane, Bent, BACK UP ST

Sell: Lee, Stalteri, Gardner, Ghaly, Gardner & Rocha.

Develop (Reserves/Youth): Boateng, Tarrabt & O'Hara.

Would accept a reasonable bid for Chimbonda, Zokora, Tainio or Malbranque as I think they are all replaceable.

The highlight on this season thread, Jenas won the most nominations for the "performance of the season" award, for his performance against Arsenal. Getting rid of Jenas just shows how fickle and demented some of our fans are.

So you'd keep Jenas based on one performance? I personally think our central midfield is very weak. I'd ditch Jenas, Zokora and Taino. I'd make the priority signings two quality central midfielders.

The jury is still out on the Hudd, O'Hara, KPB and Tarabbt. The latter two haven't had that many chances yet, but haven't done enough.

I think there will be a huge clear out this summer. I think either Jenas or Zokora will go, Huddlestone is too good to be sold even though he's not a Ramos type player. Lennon will go, trust me on this Ramos hates players with no end product. Dawson will go because he won't want to be backup to Woody.

Kaboul I hope stays because he has bags of potential, looks very much like a young Ledley but perhaps even better on the ball if even more naive positionally. Hope we keep KPB, he has shown flashes of quality which more popular players like O' Hara simply don't possess.

Obviously the likes of Stalteri, Rocha, Gardner and Lee will be shipped out, although I feel for Lee as I think he's a great little player. I think Chimbonda will want to leave as he won't want to play backup to super Al'. Also remember Gunter is a right back so we already have a backup for Hutton.

I feel for Robbo because I think innately he is a quality keeper as shown by his reaction shot stopping. But if we want to be seriously challenging the top 4 next season, I don't think we have the time to completely rebuild his confidence game, he'd be best off doing that at somewhere like Boro. Cerny will also go.

I wouldv'e saiid a couple of months ago that Bent would go but now I'm not so sure. Either way I think Ramos will sign another forward, whether thats a good idea or not I'm not sure (note defoe situation).

So overrall a huge clearout I think, But exciting times for the club.

Coys!

What the hell has happened to Malbranque, for half the season he was our most consistant player and now he is gone very poor,he could be out the door as well.

Robbo: Sell too many mistakes! Think as well for himself he needs a fresh start some where else.

Chimbonda: Sell I know his agent was talking about him signing new contract but he wont play second fiddle to Hutton and Bale!

Lee: Sell think this a certainity now!

Zokora: Stay I like him we all know what he can and cant do! Also think he takes lot of unfair abuse some times from fans!

Kaboul: Would like him to stay as he is young has had difficult first season but lets give him another season to see how he does. But he might go if get good offer in for him I think!

Tainio: Sell, again another player I like but too injury prone!

Stalteri: Sell think another certainty to be sold in summer

Jenas: Keep

Berbatov: Love him to stay! But really dont know if he will stay! One things for sure its going to another long summer full of rumours about him!

Keane: Stay

Gilberto: Stay

Cerny: Leave another certainty!

Ghaly: Leave

Malbranque: Think we might sell him if we get two good left midfeilders in shame as been one of our better players this season!

Bale: Stay! Will be like new signing next season!

Boateng: Sell! Im afraid from what ive seen of him I just dont rate him!

Taarabt: Loan needs first team experience

Dawson: Stay! Yes he has had poor season but hopefully will learn from this! Same as Kaboul guess its what Ramos thinks of him if reasonable offer comes in might let him go! Or might be the case of its either Dawson or Kaboul who leaves if Ramos wants to bring in his own men then I think I would say rather Kaboul left out of the two of them!

Huddlestone: Sell too inconsitant one game his looks like class player then the next like against newcastle looks really poor! I just wonder about his mobility to make it as top player!

Bent: Sell, He isnt a bad player but just isnt suited to our style of play! Plays better as loan striker as like he did at Charlton. No where near worth the £16 million we paid for him! Just hope some other mugs will pay £10 million plus for him so we cant get most of our money back for him!

Ohara: Stay I like what ive seen of him! Had poor game against Newcastle but then who didnt! Useful squad player!

Lennon: Stay! He is going through poor patch at moment but is still young think he has real potential!

King: Stay but think next season is big season for him! As much as I love Ledley if he can only play once every four games then we really will have to think very hard about his place in team!

Alnwick: Sell

Hutton: keep

Forecast: Keep

Ekotto: Sell too injury prone from what ive seen of him dont rate him that highly either!

Rocha: Sell! Think this is another certainty!

Barcham: Sell never going to break into our first team

Dervite: Not sure havent really heard much about him since came back from injury, Might be another case of loaning out to get first team experience

Rose, Loan out to gain first team experience maybe only one or two month loan at first not whole season!

Henville: Maybe same as Danny Rose

Woodgate: Keep

Gunter: Keep but if comes to christmas and he isnt playing or featuring in first team squad alot then loan out to gain experience!

love the way you've written off Bent when he's actually been scoring now he's looking more settled, despite never having the support of our fans.

I don't know what people expect from a 3rd choice striker, absolute beggars belief.

I Bent I trust

even though you've over-estimated alot of those sales namely:robinson, tainio,O'hara and Berbatov I still agree with most except keep O'Hara and try to keep Berby. Also, sell Dawson and Jenas.

I'd have Bale play left wing cause he's shown more for us going forward than as a defender is his few games before the injury, he can deliver a good cross too, and if Gilberto could step up his game a little, we'd have the left hand side covered. That said, if we went out a bought a top class left winger, it would be good too cause I'm not sure if Bale is going to be an injury prone player throughout his career, he's had no luck since signing for us.

Unfortunately we no longer have Arnesen, who pretty much managed to sign an entire squad in one transfer window.
