They're facts, and if stats only tell part of the story they tell rather more of it than 10 minutes of MOTD or YouTube clips. GL makes the blithe assertion, based on fuck knows what, that SWP is 'better' at shooting than Lennon. Well, that wouldn't be hard, but the fact is that they've both scored two league goals this season; SWP has taken a lot more shots (33 to 9) but two-thirds of them have been off-target, as opposed to one-third of Lennon's. Better?

I haven't forgotten how good SWP was at City, but City was a long time ago. His old man's right; moving to Chelsea completely buggered his progress. Jol was reportedly very keen on signing him this summer, which would have been a great move for him and us, but I'd say that on the whole both he and Lennon have been less than impressive this season.

I think it is unfair to compare a player who is playing week in week out, to a player whose career has nose dived because he isn't played regularly. How many minutes has Lennon played compared to SWP?

But to confirm, I would swap SWP with Lennon in a heart beat, and SWP all round game is far superior to Lennon's.

I'd agree with you about SWP, although Lennon is younger and has time on his side... Hasnt had a good season though, no doubt about that

This stuff about Lennon is stupid IMO, he is still a good player, on his day he is excellent, yes his delivery could do with improving but his pace and dribbling are class and no way should we sell him. All this talk of getting rid of lennon is insane, he is one of our best players FFS!

Bring in a GK,CB,CM,LM and a leader/captain who can play regularly and all this will blow away as we'll have better balance and creativity and we won't over-rely on Lennon and expect him to score which isn't his primary job. His delivery will improve.

one of our best players...lol!!!....he's scored 3 goals in 43 games....can't cross properly, doesn't tackle, has a bad attitude and can't kick with his left foot!...so he's a player that doesn't score, cross, and has one leg. could you tell me how on earth he is one of our best players?....i would snap their hand off if we were offered £10m and it very much looks like Ramos is going to do just that. take down your "I love Lennon. He's my dream boy" poster off your bedroom wall and wave good byeeeee!!!!.....

There shouldn't be any big wholesale changes in fact I would keep most of the squad we have now and simply add better players because we need strength and depth.

Lennon has spent the equivalent of three games more on the pitch this season, and made three more starts. Both have made 25 appearances. Not a huge difference, I'd say—and 21 starts and four sub appearances in 32 games hardly constitutes playing 'week in, week out'. It's probably fair to say that neither has had a season on which he'll look back with much fondness.

I'd certainly be happy enough signing SWP in addition to Lennon, as Jol was reportedly very keen to do this summer, but swap? No way. And on current form I'd sooner have Bentley than either.

It's not his style to score goals. Aaron Lennon is a good footballer. He is unique in that he is one of those wingers who are playing at a high level based on a few very strong assets. Ok yes fine focus on his weaknesses and his 'lack of goals'. He has got 2 goals and 4 assists and i won't lie that isn't as impressive as it should be. But be patient FFS. It was only 1 season ago that Lennon was tearing teams apart, he still has his blistering pace and great dribbling skills. He is very young and IMO his delivery has actually improved over the years, he's now getting more height and dinking some back-post as opposed to hitting them all hard and low.

As for doesn't tackle, thats bollocks, he runs up and down that wing all-day long and tracks back and makes a fair few tackles. Also his attitude! what the hell, he's been booked once this season lol and his attitude hasn't ever changed he just tries hard and runs alot every match.

Ok he's not the finished article and also he's not had his best season but He's played a few fantastic matches especially agaisnt the top teams I remember him tearing apart Man.U(FA cup) Chelsea and Arsenal(League cup).

He can and will work on his delivery and his lack of a left foot it just the same as any normal premiership footballer IMO, does Jenas,Zokora SWP have a good left foot-NO.

Stop with this criticism and negativity, Lennon is still a good player, WE as a club need some improvements but to say we need to sell him is stupid it'd be pointless and he should be starting RM every game next season.
