pace, creativity & a good engine? you just described O'Hara as having the attributes as Jenas, although he's clearly not as good as the latter.

I'd question O'Hara's creativty compared to Hudd's aswell. Huddlestone is clearly the more gifted footballer and is younger to boot.

I think that O'Hara is pretty one dimensional. He has a good left foot but the right is pretty much a swinger. But...he is a battler and he is also pretty disciplined (like Tainio). Told to play out of position, he'll do a good job.

Personally, I'd keep O'Hara and Tainio as good squad players.

Not sure that Hudd will ever make it. His lack of mobility is a real liability.

I don't see the need for major changes.

Out:
Stalteri, Murphy and Ghaly are very much at the back of the queue so there's little point in keeping any of them.

Lee Pyo or Ekotto, we have got Gilberto and Bale already so whoever Juande deems the best option should stay.

Chimbonda has Hutton ahead of him and Gunter looks like he'll need games to fulfil his potential. Chimbonda has his strengths but his positioning and lack of tracking back really hurt us and imo for a defender these flaws are not acceptable.

Stay: Only mentionning the ones people might want to leave

Zokora unfortunatley he hasn't become 'our Viera' but his work rate and versatility have made him an important part of our sqaud. A couple of games ago i forget which he started off CM, then moved to centre before moving to left back. Ramos changes his formation a couple of times during the game so versatile players who put the team first are extremely important.

Malbranque, no idea why anyone would want us to sell someone who has been voted 3rd (last time i looked) in SC player of the year. He can play anywhere across the midfield and his work rate is a very valuable asset.

Dawson, been a really good signing for us but has been exposed this season for his positioning. He's still very young for a centre back and comes across as hard working and will do what he can to get to the next level.

Lennon, selling a 20 year winger because he hasn't become a world beater yet is no reason to sell him.

Darren Bent, people seem to want to sell him because we paid too much money for him. I find this stupid. He's 23/24 and has a good goal scoring record for Ipswich, England U21 and Charlton. He's taking time to settle in but with Ramos looking for variety in our options Bent offers something very different to Keane and Berbatov.

I dont necessarily agree with you Lukespurs, but its good to see your opinions explained.

I personally dont think there will be that many going, at least not in the summer.

My choices:

Robbo- Will probably stay- He is in the first team right now, I suspect it will be difficult to bring in 2 GK better than he is and probably not a good use of resources. Having said that he doesnt appear to be the type of player who takes kindly to sitting on the bench for a long time and would be off for an inflated January sale.

Cerny - Will definately go - He is only on loan and I doubt that his stay will be extended.

Chimbonda - Will stay - yes, he is a quality player, and is extremely versatile across the back line. As stated if Chimbo is happy to stay and fight then this will only strengthen the squad, (a good thing). To be fair I think his eyes have seen the glory and he understands that medals are more important than money (notice change of attitude since the cup final!)

Dawson - i cant decide on this one - I dont think a player of his style doesnt mature until he is in his late 20's. He is reminds me of a young John Terry or the Scum captain that we called Donkey. His position will be decided on the players we bring in.

Kaboul - I think he will definately stay - Ramos has repeatedly dropped players for long periods of time and managed to get them to up their performances several weeks later. He is raw but has the physical abilities that Dawson lacks (Pace and power) I think Ramos likes that and will be able to mould him into a top player.

Assou-Ekotto - I think he will stay in the summer but be sold on in January - Not because his injury. But compared to Bale and Gilberto I didnt see anything that implied an improvement to them. Ramos will give him a chance but I don't think he is focused enough. (always looked disinterested to me??)

Jenas - Will stay -I can't agree that one of our most improved midfielders will be sold. Its a squad game and I dont think its a choice of Jenas or Zokora. They are obviously first choice and will be kept and improved with new signings. Will prove to be very important against the Wigan/Birmingham/Bolton of this world.

Zokora - Will stay - Again its not a choice between him and jenas they both have their uses in a squad fighting on three fronts. I dont think he has anything to prove at all. Consistently Ramos' first choice as he doesnt his job of DM very well (much like Poulsen) Ball retention and tackling are amoung the best in the league. Does exactly his job

Lennon - Will stay - This is a no brainer. Why would be want to sell him. Ridiculous to even contemplate.

Malbranque- Will stay - This for me is another no brainer. Work rate, commitment and is professional when subbed. Is extremely versatile as can play on the left, right and through the middle. Fantastic squad player. When you say he isnt effective at LM I just cant agree, his close control and early passing has created so many opportunities for us and although his crossing is fantastic, he gets forward and creates space for others.

Huddlestone-Will stay - Of course he'll stay. Again he is young and talented and will develop more under Ramos' supervision.

Bent- he will stay - I think there is a possibility he may move in January - This will largely depend on his performances and whether he can adapt to the different style of Spurs. I always rated him and at one point said he should be leading England's front line (pre spurs). It will be a test to see if he can change and if he does then we'll have a hell of a striker on our hands.

Tainio - Im not sure - I have always bee a fan of Tainio as I do think he is disciplined and reliable, he also has an element of creativity when played a bit further forward and release some good early passes to our players. I also think he lascks to the physical presence required to compete in the air (but then again so does hargreaves) I feel he'll probably make way for a younger squad player to be fair like o hara.

Taarbat - stay - This guy is hugely talented as we all know. Ramos he the ability to see that and get the best out of him. I can see him out on loan but not sold.

Also as Lukespurs stated I cant see the following next season:

Gardener
Stalteri
Rocha
Ghaly
Lee

hudds shooting is shocking. he can strike a ball so cleanly but you only have to look at his scoring record to see for all the ability he has he doesnt score near enough. hudd cant/wont tackle which for a centre mid just isnt good enouh. granted his range of passing is great but thats his only asset. as a centre mid he doesnt have the speed, mobility or athleticism to be a top player. not saying ohara is going to be world class but he has some pace, creativity and a good engine which we need more then we need hudd

Funny, you could be describing Carrick there. Or even Glenn Hoddle. Playmakers my friend are difficult to find. Treasure the options they bring .

Have to be careful we don't fall into the trap of replacing our squad players with dross like Almunia , Lehmann, Senderos, Eboue, Diaby, Bendtner, Hoyte, Walcott. If you can challenge for a CL spot with that lot then maybe we are not that far away.

With all the rumours flying around about so many of our players leaving it left we wondering who as fans we'd like to see stay and who we'd like to see go. Candidates:

Robbo-GO-Used to love him and even though he's recoved his form slightly, you always worry about him and he is too error-prone.

Chimbonda-STAY-Quality player, Hutton is fantastic to keep Chimbo out the team but if Chimbo is happy to stay and fight he'd be an excellent player to keep, strong in the air, fast and versetile. Keep if we can

Dawson-STAY-I think the boy has talent, both him and Kaboul are not near Woody and Kings class but they are however both quite young (under23) and have a long time to mature in top class CB's. I'd give Daws at least 1-2 more seasons to develop. Wenger leaves alot of his players to bed in, some looking shite for 2 seasons even before you see them turn into something special.

Kaboul-STAY-See Dawson

Assou-Eketto-GO-Too injury prone, fairly average and we have Bale and Gilberto.

Jenas-GO-regretably, it's either him or Zokora and at what they do, Zokora is arguably better. If we got a world class CAM along side Zoko that'd be best for everyone(tiago)

Zokora-STAY-just about willing to give him 1 more season

Lennon-STAY!!!!-Fucking papers why the fuck would be want to sell him. So his delivery could be improved a bit, on his day he is a class act and still very young. Must be coached but def stay!

Malbranque-GO-Love his effot, commitment etc as a RM i'm sure he'd be fine, but he's not going to get in ahead of Lennon and won't want to stay and fight for a place with him. As a LM he just isn't effective enough and if we had a natural left footer with pace, it'd be better.

Huddlestone-STAY-anyone who can pass a ball as well as he can is worth keeping. Seriously though, he's still young and has fantastic ability need to keep to see how he turns out.

Bent-STAY-He is a proven goalscorer and under-rated by our fans who have massive expectations of a player who rarely starts and so finds it hard to get rhythm, form, confidence etc. Again, also young so worth keeping.

So yea out of all the players rumoured to be leaving i actually don't want to many to leave but a few big names who need improving for the top4 i.e robbo and jenas is probably nesseccary, otherwise we do actually have a great squad already just massively bad start to season especially defensively. Sorted that out a bit with woody and hutton, get in a new GK and mabye CB then perhaps a new LM or/and CM and keep most the rest of the squad and we'll be laughing.

I'm assuming the following will leave:
Cerny
Gardener
Stalteri
Rocha

views?

Pretty much agree with all of that tho i'm not convinced on the Chimbonda bit. Very suspect defensively.

Lee will also have to go too.

The highlight on this season thread, Jenas won the most nominations for the "performance of the season" award, for his performance against Arsenal. Getting rid of Jenas just shows how fickle and demented some of our fans are.

The guys who think Hudd should go, clearly don't watch spurs.I'd like him to start every game, for he is really something. As for the keep Zoko , sack Jenas it's probably the case that Zoko can fill gaps in defence. It's clear they are rubbish in midfield and we'll need some new players there.

Release:

Robinson ( hmmm)
Lee (not liked by Ramos)
Gardner (unlucky)
Tainio ( O'Hara could become the new Tainio therefor not needed)
Dawson ( If the moneys right)
Stalteri ( not needed)
Malbranque ( people talk of Lennon's end product, Steed IMO offers nothing attacking wise)
Rocha ( unlucky)

You can add to that list

O'Hara - over rated
Taraabt - no end product

To my mind O'Hara is just another in a long line of reserves that flattered for a few games only to disappear into obscurity. Check your Scott Houghton's, Dean Marney's, John Jackson, Rohan Ricketts, Andy Turner etc etc

O'hara really is full of wank.

Taarabt is dangerous, techincally gifted and needs to be nurtured. O'hara in comparison is one footed, slow, and shit.

There were times today when taraabt should have passed and didn't so i agree with ingve to a point. That is the difference between quality players and those that just look the part. We still view him with rose tinted specs because he won a free kick at west ham!

O'Hara wants to be the next Scholes apparently....Fuck me!!

Paxtonnite.

You surely can see the difference in talent between O'hara and Taarabt. Taarabt can run, dribble shoot with both feet, pass with both feet and is a far better prospect then O'hara.
