It’s the international break.

The Athletic seem to think that we will be in for another attacker this January (I know, I know, the athletic aren’t always that reliable)

Which player(s) would you like to see us bring in for the upcoming window.

Apart from the usual suspects that we will be linked with (e.g Traore, Vlahovic), in the limited football I watch outside of the pl I like the look of:

Moussa Diaby: pacy, wide forward in the mould of son who seems to have found his shooting boots this season

Charles De Ketelaere: Only seen the 2 CL games this season, but looks a incredible talent

Vlahovic feels like that would be for next summer. Id be shocked if we make a splash in January. More likely we’ll try to sign Kessie or someone on a pre contract early & try to make it immediate toward the end of the window, IMO. That &/or a young player from the Americas(north or south) as they’ll be in offseason.

I’d look at Adeyemi or Aaronson from Salzburg on buy & loan back though. Not ready for the prem yet but i think both have very bright futures.

Wouldnt be surprised if the club is keeping tabs on Eriksen developments as well. If he can still play but cant in Italy due to a pacemaker, we might try to bring him back as we still havent replaced him.

If we are to get players of Vlahovic quality then we'd need to steal a March on others and be negotiating NOW with a view to 1 January transfer. Waiting till the end of the season leaves it open to many other suitors. You only need to look at Newcastles new riches and I'd start to think that they'd be after him too which would already rule us out.

I do want to see us continuing to identify young upcoming talent and going that route in our continued squad rebuilding.

We should look to be active this January IMO. It’s not your typical winter window, normally clubs would never let go of their top talents in January but there are loads of clubs that are still reeling financially from the pandemic whose resolve we should be testing.

Paratici is putting together a long-term project and we ought to look to take advantage of the circumstances and give ourselves a boost for the second half of this season and beyond. Having said that I’ll be shocked if Levy opens the purse strings.

There are a lot of good players with contracts expiring in the summer. I suspect Paratici will be looking at this market very heavily. We’ve plenty of room in the wages to turnover column to spend there too. We just need to hope he doesn’t lumber us with players on high wages and long contracts who don’t have the motivation.

This is good when you get it right, but look at Juve now, they have a bunch of players like Ramsey and Rabiot that they’d love to shift but can’t cos they are on huge wages thanks to their Bosmans.

This list of players with contracts expiring is mad.
Dybala, kessie, brozovic all players I’m sure we could get. But likely have suitors as well.

people saying Zakaria, hasn’t he been dropped since his really bad injury? Hasn’t been starting so likely not a good option.

Not gonna hold my breath that we will sign anybody. People need to temper their expectations.

What I would like us to do (not what I think we will do).

January - try and sign Kessie and either Sule or Ginter in cheap deals as their contracts expire in the summer. Kessie gives us what we need im CM and Sule/Ginter are both very good CBs and can partner Romero.

Then in the summer go for Vlahovic, Sarr (if watford go down) and Szoboszlai who can finally replace the Eriksen hole in our squad.

Depends how things are going. As we know, Levy is reactive rather than proactive and will spend if we're floundering but keep the wallet shut if we're keeping our heads above water.

Sule would be amazing.

We need to do something about this problem.

Someone like Damsgaard?

hopefully paratici would properly make use of the winter window, but we know levy would interfere afterall

How much would Patrik Schick cost from Leverkusen? Tall, strong, can finish, good age profile. Already has 6 in 7 games in the budesliga, think he'd be a perfect addition to the squad.

Apparently he has been very underwhelming for his club - seen a lot of people claim he is another one of those players that has a good tournament and gets overhyped.

Everyone was spanking themselves silly over him in the summer yet I really wasn’t 100% convinced. We need to be buying the next son or Eriksen not the next Bergwijn or lo celso.

When England won the U17's world cup in 2017, the most hyped players were Foden, Sancho, Brewster and Hudson Odoi, but I the one that stood out for me was Morgan Gibbs-White, but he was pretty phsically small. I thought he'd go on to be a start over the next couple of years, but he never even became a regular for Wolves and he fell of the radar a bit. A few weeks ago I watched Sheff Utd, hoping to see Sander Berge (who I think is a fantastic potential signing), who wasn't actually playing due to injury and none other than MGW was playing for them and he was fantastic. He's physically filled out so much. I think he'll become the next in the line of really talented English attacking midfield talent, following on from Foden, Gealish and Maddison etc. He's only on loan at Sheff Utd unfortunately, so to get him out of Wolves will cost a fair bit, but I think he's exactly the kind of player we should be prepared to heavily invest in.

MGW, Sander Berge and Paulinha are players I'd love us to sign in Jan. Obviously we need creative talent, but I think we also need at least one, but probably 2, CM's. I don't rate Winks highly enough and NDombele isn't an ideal Prem CM in my opinion. I think people tend to over complicate what's needed in CM. I just see it as really hard to win the midfield battle, if you are playing against tall, athletic, agressive players, who are also good on the ball. I see Berge and Paulinha as nightmare pairing to go up against.

I'm not that bothered about signing a striker. I see so many teams doing better than us without a recognised classic CF, that I don't get the fuss.
