Atlanta Yid on COYS:

Interesting times. I am pretty sure he has a nice budget to work with.

I follow the excitement of Conte, but how many years have we heard this now? This was also said when Mourinho came in. We have been let down by so called "promises" by Levy for so many years now, so no reason why we should get overly exited until we actually see the ambitions on the footballing side first.

Antony from Ajax is a worldy in the making…will have plenty of competition but we should definitely try for him
If a 343 is the way forward and we are looking at that position, I think Moussa Diaby is just as good but in a different way that might suit a Conte side more with his pace and running. Antony also fantastic but doesn’t run in behind at all. Maybe that’s just Ten Hag’s system though.

Don’t give up on skipp just yet

I think we will see a better Skipp with higher quality players around him.

That said, I think that the current squad will improve under Conte so I’m looking forward to the coming weeks / months under Conte’s tutelage.

It's going to be quite hard for him to get his message across mid season, a bit like trying to teach someone to drive a bus while it's rolling down a hill with dodgy brakes, but if anyone can turn things around quickly it's Conte. I thought the way we came out of the blocks v Vitesse was very encouraging being as he's only been here 5 minutes.

That was the most impressive thing, some of the play was quick one and two touch passing. If we can get a CB and CM in January will be heading in right direction

Let’s not go back to saying we spent no money for Jose. We bought him his first choice CM, his first choice RB, a v good LB, goalkeeping & striker cover, plus Bale as cherry on cake. Jose’s shortcomings were his own.

Bale was Loan and not here anymore, was his goals replaced? Regulion could also just disappear if Real come back. I did not say we did' not buy players, but it is nowhere NEAR what i mean by ambitions.

Paying that extra 10 mill to get a quality player over the line where we always fail, that will show ambitions. Buying a quality striker while we still have Kane to push him, that will show ambitions.

we have made progress and bought some good/more expensive players , but we still need to buy quality in positions we are strong also to push each other, not only prospects we hope will blossom

That’s not really relevant or not to whether Jose was backed in the transfer market, he clearly was.

Juve-Fiorentina about to kick off and Vlahovic is starting if anyone fancies a bit of scouting in probably his toughest test of the season.

The guy who called Son covid stuff reckons

Kessie to Spurs is done and we’ve agreed terms with Vlahovic since the summer and we will 100% be back in for him.

Interesting to see if that happens
he also got nuno being sacked right before everyone

Yep. My mate (ex Red Star) greeted me walking through the door to basically say buckle up. Situation is this, Vlahovic has refused again to sign a new deal, and told them he's going. Juve have offered stupid money wages--but not the 12m quoted last night, that was Serbian press guesses, but more like 250k a week. He had agreed stuff in principle because we'd dropped our interest over the summer, when he was sure he was coming to the point he was looking at houses, etc. Apparently he's really eager to move to the PL over Serie A - seen as a much bigger league in Serbia/Croatia, and basically the hopes of a nation are on his shoulders kind of stuff... but my mate seemingly talked to someone close to him today who said the everything turned on its head last night - which I'm taking to mean we've made contact again and said he's Conte's choice.

edited to add: it seems that because its a relatively small nation in footballing terms there's basically a very tightly knit community around these guys, not exactly shared whatsapp groups, but they are all connected in some way and much closer than I'd have thought, which is part of the 'hopes of a nation on the shoulders thing' he's their golden boy and they are all expecting huge things from him.

Kessie would be such good business if it is true. One of the main reasons for Milan’s recent resurgence. Class player. Hope we pay a small fee to get him in Jan.

Vlahovic also sounds great. Would be fairly expensive but he’s one of the best young strikers in the world.

Surely Milan will have to sell Kessie in January, can they afford to let him go on a free?

You’re reshaping history there. Mourinho was very clear that he did not have a significant budget did not need any new players as the existing squad was good enough.
