I'm not entirely sure but I know rugby is starting to introduce pitchside concussion assessments. Also, the NFL has a list of signs (e.g. confusion, etc.) that results in the player having to be removed from the game straight away.
The A&E tests which I have seen first hand on either end involve asking what happened before the impact? what day is it? who is the prime minister? whats the date? do you remember everything during the impact? did you lose a slight amount of consciousness for a slight second? Do you know whats happening? Do you know where you are? and etc.

I know whats happening in the NFL and the huge debate around this (I did my final project for my honours on protection for sportsmen, though it was football i had to look at the other sports solutions). One of the issue is what he when wearing protection you are more likely to suffer a brain injury. This is because the protection absorbs the impact whilst the person doing the tackle/punch/whatever is feeling less when committing the the challenge and as a result hitting alot harder to commit more damage

Camerman desperate to get a pic of Jesus holding the sun. Still pretty impressive shot.
