Our midfield was terrible today. Could not keep the ball. Bradley better get his shit together. Worst game I've seen him play in some time. Loss of Altidore is bad. Say what you will about his club form, he has been fantastic in some big games for the US recently. Typical American team getting a win that they probably shouldn't have.

So far this is going exactly to play for the US to have any chance to advance. They need to get a point against Portugal and try to get through a group like this

GER 9
USA 4
POR 4 (or 1)
GHA 3 (or 0)

US goes though on the GD from the Germany thrashing today. Overall a good day for the US. They gave themselves a chance.
We definitely deserved at least a point from that match today. Ghana had more chances but we defended fairly well and Ghana just didnt have the final ball. Alot of their shots were very Townsend-esque.

Good news for the US is that Portugal are down Pepe and Coentrao(likely). Im thinking Jurgen might tinker with the back line against Portugal. Especially since Beasley was terrible today. I wouldnt be surprised if he starts Yedlin on the right because of his pace against Ronaldo and put Fabian back on the left. If we draw Portugal, we go through, as long as we dont lose to Germany by 5.

Absolutely no chance yedlin starts. I love yedlin and think he's going to be a big time player for both the US and probably a CL club in the future, but he's not ready. He was brought to be a sub if we are chasing a game. I don't think he's ever even started a game for us. I imagine we'll start the same but with Aron Bacon for Jozy and brooks for besler if he is still out. Beasley might have been burned by atsu time and time again, but it rarely hurt us, and jones covered well. Jurgen loves damarcus, so i bet he starts.

All that being said, heck of a win. Really banished some demons with this win. We should get out of the group now. Portugal are overrated, especially without pepe and coentrao. We really, really missed Altidore though. We never had a target for an outlet ball without him. Also beckerman has to pass better. Bradley kept having to come deep to get the ball because kyle never hit a forward pass. If bradley plays like he did against nigeria and mexico, i think we 'll do portugal more comfortably than we did today.

Beckerman was terrible that match, IMO. DIdnt really break up anything. Lost possession quite a few times. Couldnt hit a forward pass for anything. Didnt help that Bradley was shit also.

Jermain Jones was by far man of the match, IMO. Played great today. As did Brooks in the 2nd half. By far the best performance in a US shirt by both of them, IMO. Dempsey deserves alot of plaudits too.

Pleased for USA. On my prediction I didn't given them a chance but good to see them showing that sort of mentality despite tiring and being second best for a large part of the game. Would have been easy to cave in. Hope they get through.

Just watching Dempseys goal again and wondering how quickly Sterling would've fallen over when he turned inside that defender.

Was a well taken goal though.

Fucking Nigeria. Ruined my 10 team acca. Had Switzerland, France, Argentina, Germany, Ivory Coast, Colombia all in up to the Nigeria game. And after them all I has left was Holland, Russia and Belgium! 2euro stake would have returned something over 250 quid! Bastards! Going to do another today anyway..

This month we've seen 2 beauitful pieces of pure world class skill from Clint. My question is, where was that skill when he was with Spurs?

I lived in South Carolina for a year...that's why I am afraid of them.
The south is a bit scary. Alot of the nicest people you'll ever meet in the south and very hospitable but others still fly the confederate flag. Scary shits, they are.
