For me home grown debate is a non Starter - if you are good enough I want you at Spurs if you are not I don't - in my opinion Townsend isn't - he is predictable and non productive for Spurs - worst still he does not seem to try to adapt his game - bentaleb - quality , Kane - surpassed expectations quality - but even when he was pre great season he was trying and adapting to fit into the team.

Some players get better with age with Townsend you can see there's a player inside that head of his...We've seen it with England and in certain games for Spurs ie 5-3 against Chelski. We can afford imo to give him time his a home grown player knows the club and won't cause a fuss being part of the squad .

I feel in Pritchard we can bypass Shaqiri . Don't get me wrong he's a superb player but in Pritchard I believe we've got another diamond player on our hands also imo Veljkovic is class too. I haven't been excited about a player since Ledley King one of my favourite players of all time (can't believe I said that). I personally think we can save from buying a DM because of Veljkovic, though the majority consensus will surly differ from that view. My one an only worry concerning Veljkovic , what's he's best position? CB or DM it's a tough one...

Are you half or full serbian?

Townsend actively hurts the team when he plays though. No pressing from him puts even more defensive pressure on everyone else and he's so wasteful on the ball. Honestly I can't think of a more wasteful player at the moment. We constantly concede the ball because he wants to run it alone into two defenders or he shoots into the stands from 40 yards. There's a lot of improvement he would have to do to have him as a fit in this team and we've already given him tons of time.

I don't think he shoots as much as he used to. I can see small adjustments Townsend has made to his game, he can and does put in decent crosses his directness can be productive too imo opening up play and forcing defenders to turn.
I agree there needs to be further improvements which I feel he can make..... Lets be honest not every player has the ability to be both offensive and defensive with the press. I think it's a bit unfair just to highlight Townsend on that, we do need much better defenders at the back when our forward press isn't effective this is a point I've made during the season.

I think if this €16m Euro thing is true we should be all over it. I know he has only been at Inter for 6 months but I think he would be open to a move to England. I think we can match what Inter pay wage-wise and he can surely look at a potential of playing with Eriksen and Kane and Lamela as just juicy!!

He has a real burst of pace and that attacking direct-ness that we lack, he has a hell of a shot and enough tricks and end product to make this a great player to look at...

If we signed Shaq, Martial and a DM (Schneiderlin, Kramer, Geis, Imbula) and offloaded around 5-9 I would be beyond happy with that...

Seen him plenty from his initial time at Basel all the way through his career til now.

What a letdown. Very talented, but just doesn't understand the game. The comparisons to Townsend are spot on, Shaqiri is no better...but because he is foreign, he sounds better than he is to many in this thread. Rather keep Andros because at least he will work hard, I've seen Shaqiri be very lazy plenty of times.

Plenty of footballing ability, very little footballing brain. Would be a poor signing in my opinion.

On the plus side if Stoke get Shaqiri in it presumably frees us up to go all in for Victor Moses......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
