Milner in CM, Mason and Bentaleb in CM. I think its clear the position we are lacking more than any other is a DM. We need to protect that back four whilst letting the other CM and AM feel more free to go forward more.

That's a silly post. Walker would never fit into that team.

Wouldn't mind something like this, perhaps with the 2nd striker sitting behind as more of a false 9:

This would solve our "we've only got cack wingers" problem, with it easier to use the attacking qualities of a wing back that can defend.

Vertoghen can sit ahead of a back 2, playing more of a hybrid DM/DC role, allowing him to move forwards (which he loves), whilst also regaining possession ahead of the back two.

Swap out midfield as required, especially if Eriksen played a more AMC or F9 role.

Obviously it's be a big silly to put Messi and Ronaldo in the XI though!

I've just picked out some players who I like who we have been linked with.

Put Milner in there as he's on a free this summer and we need some leadership in our team.

Never thought at the start of this season, but it's the complete right side of our defence that needs upgrading so I'd include Walker in that.

How awesome would it be to start with 6 players from the Academy?

It would be even better if it was 6 players that will be here and are good enough to be regular starters. Only ones I see that I know are good enough there are Kane, Rose and Bentaleb, who you have on the bench. Pritchard might be though. Fredericks, I hate to say it, probably wont be here. Could see him going to Boro on a perm if they get promoted. Townsend is not good enough and may not be here. Mason is a squad player.

Quite frankly, bar a surprise, the most we'll have are 4 academy players in the preferred XI; Bentaleb, Kane, Pritchard and Rose.
