What is Fredericks like? I remember seeing him a few years ago. He was quick but quite lightweight. Is he ready for our first team?

He's been exceptional for Boro this season and I think he's ready although is definitely not the finished article. He can still get caught out positionally on occasion but is improving in that respect. He wins a lot of challenges and, like you say, has real pace.

Like the idea of McCarthy as DM. Wish we'd have just got him when Everton signed him.

I don't really rate Alderweireld but it may well be that getting him in will give us the functioning and solid CB pairing we need, given that he and Verts played together at Ajax.

I would always play Eriksen as the 10.

It would be even better if it was 6 players that will be here and are good enough to be regular starters. Only ones I see that I know are good enough there are Kane, Rose and Bentaleb, who you have on the bench. Pritchard might be though. Fredericks, I hate to say it, probably wont be here. Could see him going to Boro on a perm if they get promoted. Townsend is not good enough and may not be here. Mason is a squad player.

Quite frankly, bar a surprise, the most we'll have are 4 academy players in the preferred XI; Bentaleb, Kane, Pritchard and Rose.

Don't get me wrong - I don't imagine we will start with six Academy graduates but I'd like us to and I genuinely think the players are good enough. I absolutely disagree with you about Mason who I think could potentially kick on even more next season and I'm still hopeful that Townsend can become the player he has the potential to be.

Milner in CM, Mason and Bentaleb in CM. I think its clear the position we are lacking more than any other is a DM. We need to protect that back four whilst letting the other CM and AM feel more free to go forward more.

Milner is defensively good enough IMO, plus if we have a AM3 that are pressing correctly, that will also help the defence out.

I really rate him highly but I think our defence severely needs a bit more experience back there. At times this season it's all been a bit Benny Hill.

I don't see why it wouldn't if the full backs are carrying out their attacking responsibility - which is to provide the width in this system.

And the pressing high up the pitch would be fantastic with that line up IMO.

GK - Vorm or whoever we replace Lloris with

RB - Someone who can attack and defend
LB - Danny Rose
CB - Vertonghen, the good version
CB - experienced, leader, organiser

CM - Bentaleb
CM - Someone who can move ball quickly, strong and has defensive quality

CAM - Eriksen
RWF - Pace and goals and creativity
LWF - Pace and goals and creativity
