Not sure if this has been mentioned but we're allowed to name 12 subs for the final as opposed to your usual 7

Didn't know this - cheers!

So with that in mind, we could line up like:

GK - Lloris
RB - Aurier
CB - Alderweireld
CB - Vertonghen
LB - Rose
CM - Sissoko
CM - Dele
CM - Eriksen
RW - Lucas
ST - Kane
LW - Son

Subs:

1 - Gazza
2 - Trippier
3 - Davies
4 - Sanchez
5 - Foyth
6 - Walker-Peters
7 - Winks
8 - Wanyama
9 - Skipp
10 - Marsh?!
11 - Lamela
12 - Llorente

We're going to struggle to put 12 players on our bench!!

Basesd on Wednesday’s performance, I’d say yes. He’s delivered at Barcelona and Ajax when someone needed to step up. While we really played well in the second half against Ajax, he was on a different level, almost possessed.

It would be lunacy not to play him- his pace, which was lightening on Wednesday, will unsettle their defence, not to mention the morale he brings after that astonishing performance. No question that a fit Moura starts

Wouldn't say it's lunacy considering he's like to take Son's place and Son is a key player in our side and has stepped up at more moments.

God headache for the coach.

Why take his place?
Kane
Son Dele Moura
Sissoko Eriksen

That’s a decent balance given what we’ve got

Eriksen playing in the DMF 2?, not a fan, especially if we have Winks back.

Out best balance side is the side we had for our best performance of the season against Everton where we won 6-2 where Winks was deployed alongside Sissoko.

Big if with Winks. And even if he’s fit, Moura has a pretty strong case to start.

If Winks isn’t fit, I don’t think Eriksen next to Sissoko is that bad- it worked against Ajax in the second half. I’d rather have him there than Dier or Wanyama, both of whom look really cumbersome

If Winks is in training which is likely he will start seeing as he's more important than Lucas - we have nothing to lose seeing as it's the last match of the season.

Don't trust Eriksen in that role and he never plays at his best there regardless.

It’s so difficult. I get what you’re saying but sometimes, especially in tournament football, psychological momentum is everything. Drop Moura and you crush his self belief- based on his extraordinary performance against Ajax he deserves to start. I’d start him over Son if Winks is fit, I really would. Moura just put in a career defining performance in the most intense situation imaginable to a footballer. Son was fairly marginalised. He has to start given the context

Kane coming off the bench for me for the last 30mins or extra time, pens etc etc

Will not have played a single competitive game and sends the correct message to the rest of the boys on the pitch who’ve contributed hugely in us getting to the final

Having Kane, Winks, Sanchez & Lamela all in the match day squad is massive for us. Hopefully they all are

Gives Poch some great options off the bench which will look stronger than it’s been for months

I think the other really important point from Wednesday is that Dele has to play further up the pitch. He can play a dangerous final ball and find space to score goals. VVD will be all over Kane, Dele could find lots of room.

Hope to fuck we play 4231 and pin their fullbacks in as much as possible

So much unknown, but if fit, Kane, Winks, and Vertonghen will all start.

I think that means Lucas drops to the bench, unfortunately. Son just brings a little bit more, and Lucas for 30-35' in the second half with fresh legs could win it for us.

lucas has made this a very difficult decision for poch, otherwise it would have been a simple choice of sissoko and winks cm with eriksen, dele and son behind kane - depending on the fitness of the two harrys.

Is it really?

Does he get into our strongest team?
He just has to be in it. I don't think any other player in any other team would get dropped after that performance and especially considering the circumstances of which it happened.
Back to your question, in all honesty do we even know what our strongest team is? It's as if whenever it is tweaked from the standard XI we seem to perform better than usual, whereas other times it backfires, but then when we go back to our main XI we can be poor. We need to improve on our consistency. Hopefully the summer will fix that.

These are my thoughts...

I'd love to see a front 3 of Kane, Son and Lucas.

I prefer 4 at the back.

Eriksen, Sissoko and Alli need to play.

We need to play a holding midfielder.

Make a team from that
Ok I just realised that's 12 players....but what if Sissoko could play the NKante role? Ooooh

We could play 433 with Kane playing in the pocket. I’m not having this notion we are better without Kane. The key for me is Son Moura must up there game when Kane come in and don’t just take a back seat. Kane is actually a smart footballer and can bring others into the game.

One of the key points is getting Dele Alli in good position... anytime Kane drops Alli takes que to break beyond

Trips. Winks and God in the middle

Kane ahead of Eriksen, Son and an advanced Dele.

Dele is key if he is further up the pitch. Big game player.

Lucas on the bench unfortunately.

I reckon that if he doesn't want to go all out with Kane, Son and Lucas that it might well be son he drops out. The problem is that neither son or Lucas are as much of a goal threat from wide positions. When Kane plays both son and lucas play wide.

To play them all and retain strength in the middle, Kane will need to drop a touch and Lucas and son will need to tuck in.

Hugo

Aurier toby Jan rose

Eriksen
Sissoko dele
Kane
Lucas son

Kane is excellent at playing in the 10 role and will also work and press. Yes you lose a bit of threat from kane, but you gain a lot from son and Lucas.

I really like winks because he gives us that clever link play, but I just worry that we will surrender the initiative to pool by not offering enough going forward.
