Alderweireld. Best defence I've seen at Spurs in my 20 years of supporting them, and he's the king pin.

Hugo again the difference in many of our games... especially that Liverpool game, about 3 worldies there alone.

Think it's a bit unfair to put N'Jie in there - his performance coming on vs City was very promising I thought - and looked like he could develop into a real impact asset as the season progressed and he adjusted further. It's unfortunate the injury came when it did.

Son has been most disappointing for me ever since he returned from injury. He seemed to hit the ground running but since returning he's been very frustrating to the point I believe he hinders our performance. However I hope this can be put right over a pre-season and we see the player we thought we had in those first few games.

Overall it's Toby, Dier, Moose, Kane in that very very close order - but this team really is the definition of The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Without Dier would Toby be as effective? Without Toby would our defence be as good. Without Kane would we struggle to score? Without Dembele would our midfield be overrun. and that's just those 4. Every action has a consequence and I believe none of them would be earning the same plaudits if it wasn't for their team mates

When you consider:

- this is our best season in a long, long time
- how much attention Kane and Alli are getting
- Kane is the PL top scorer
- we're the top scorers in the league for the first time in what must be decades

..it really shows just how good Alderweireld has been this season that a defender is walking it like that. Really feel he's been hard done by not getting a nomination.

If Toby had been so good, Dembele would be my next choice. He is an utter joy to watch.

Looking at this we have such a strong squad it is exciting. Title or no title this season has been amazing and imo no fluke. If we can keep this squad together the sky is the limit.

Has to be Toby though. He's been King-esque but unlike Ledley he's had a worthy supporting cast around him.

That said a few of the guys who only have a few votes have done enough to win POTY in previous seasons. The standard had been so high... and there is still so much more to come!

I'm glad so many thought the same as me...Toby has been a rock for us this season. So many good players to choose from though, but as I had voted for Toby on the OS, I had to vote for him here too. Still quite surprised at how overwhelmingly he is winning this.
Also amazed that Alli only has one vote!

I love Alderweireld and he's the best CB in the team since Ledley but when Dembele is in full flow (thankfully most of this season) he is simply unplayable and my favourite player to watch (more so than Messi) and that's why I chose Dembele. Football is about entertainment and that's what a player like Dembele brings

That is a bit surprising about Alli, but I guess that whilst he's the clear breakthrough player in the whole of the Prem, he's up against very tough competition for best Spurs player.

Lloris, Rose, Dier, Dembele, and Kane have all been superb this season. Alli has been a bit up and down, performance-wise (to be expected of a 19/20 year old in his first Prem season), but has had many incredible and important moments.

Like you and most people on here, I voted for Alderweireld a few days ago. I was a little indifferent about the signing when we were battling Southampton for him last summer, but changed my tune as early as the first couple of friendlies. His tackling, heading, positional sense, passing, and goal-scoring threat is second to no other centre-back I can think of.

If an attacking player had played as consistently well as him over the course of this season, they'd be winning awards all over der weireld.

Likewise, when we signed him I certainly wasn't jumping for joy but he has been immense.
I can't believe Soton played him at FB last season on the basis of what we've seen this season...
Surely Verts and T have to be Belgiums CB's this summer!

I voted for Toby but could have voted for Hugo. Surprised Hugo has only got 5% of the vote.

I think because of our beastly defence, he hasn't needed to be as spectacular as usual. We've faced the least shots this season, I believe. That being said, as always, he has still pulled off some incredible saves this season.

What? He was Southampton's best defender last season playing as a CB.

It's great that the choice is so difficult! In the past we've relied on one player to get the results for us, but that's not the case anymore.

Toby for me, but it's funny that we've played so well this season that we can overlook the likes of Kane, who's casually banged in 20+ PL goals for the second season in a row :)
