Wish this wasn't a private poll so that I could see who the other person was to join Beece in voting for Eriksen (who has been excellent this year again, but not POTS for me). Because [without having read the thread to check], I'm damn sure one of those two votes was placed by someone with a The The cover-art for an avatar.

(I voted Kane for what it's worth... which isn't much.)

Don't think there has been a run away winner of our POTY, certainly not to the extent the poll would suggest. I voted for Dembele who has been a force of nature this season. But I could easily have voted for Lamela, Kane, Alderweireld or Dier, and I wouldn't be too salty at people voting for Lloris, Alli or Rose

Voted Aldereiweld but agree this season has been much more about the team than any one player so maybe we should just call it Team of the Year and be done with it.

Does anyone keep a record of who we've voted the SC Player of the year in previous seasons?

Only way I can see beyond Alderweireld would be if Kane bangs in the goals that lead us to five wins and the title. The difference in defensive stats with and without Toby are so huge that you have to hand it to him (Although Dier's input has helped massivley too).

Fact is there are 7-8 players worth mentioning as being in the running which is yet another signal of a great season.

beyond the obvious, the full backs which have made the spots their own despite considerable challenge. Fair play to them, which has now resulted in Int Call ups.

When was the last time we could make out a case for practically every single member of the first XI?

Not even sure you could say 60/61 because that team was studded with four or five worldies with the rest merely performing consistently well as the supporting cast.

Easiest poll answer ever. Same answer I gave to the club website. Toby has transformed our defence. Sure a lot of it is down to team defence but the bloke's a rack in defence; brilliant on the ball and scores.

The outstanding player in an outstanding young team.

I thought it was obvious I was being lighthearted.
Yup! I thought he over reacted.

But to continue that particular debate, would Toby have been as outstanding as King had been, playing with the calibre of players that King had to without a Dier type player to protect him, while playing with a dodgy knee?

I think those comparing them should factor that into their argument when making that comparison.

Voted for Dembele in the end. He just never loses possession and his dribbling stats are incredible.
