Lennon is one of those players who would struggle in a Sunday league team were he of average pace. And 99% of the time those players are just not good enough.

I missed the Chelsea away game so I can't really comment on that bad how many bad games have certain players in our team had to be seen in the starting 11 the next week still? Whether he does something detrimental to his chances behind the scenes we don't know but on the pitch there are other players who have still done worse than him and are still getting considerable game time.

I agree with Chadli prior to his injury/time off. I used to want him in our team just because he was 1 out of about 3 players in out team who could actually find the back of the net. Since that injury though he's been shocking.

I'm not saying that Lennon doesn't need replacing, I've always liked Lennon but even I'd say anyone would be stupid who wouldn't think he needs replacing but IMO he can just offer more than what we have. Also with Lennon I think you know more of what you're getting and I know that's a set up to the reply of "what someone who doesn't score or assist" etc etc. but I feel more of a sense of solidity and structure to the team with him in it.

With Townsend and Lamela especially you really don't know what you're going to get from one game to the next.

Right now I would take someone like Bolassie that isn't 100% consistent but has the potential and balls to take people on and make stuff happen. Other than that we just need that drive back in the squad that we had in the Arse and Chav's game, it seems to have gone since the cup final.

I agree.

To be honest, I'd take anyone with some genuine flair over Lamela and Chadli. I cannot stand watching wide players who are as boring as those two. They are just so dull to watch.

I want a player who constantly makes his full back uneasy and puts him on the back foot, drives at him with the ball and whips in crosses or cuts in and shoots.

It makes me miss Ginola so, so much.

Spot on!

A wide player who constantly passes backwards and sideways and regularly struggles to beat their man is not a good one for me (Chadli!) Lamela is the opposite, he tries to use the ball positively but gives it away so fucking much and doesn't look like scoring a goal except for that fluke vs Burnley ;)

Would love Bolasse in their place or as you say just generally any half decent proper winger/attacking wide man.

I suppose Everton only loaned him if they could buy him for a set fee at the end of the season?

I've just watched the Everton match on MOTD and lennon had a cracker but more importantly he wasn't stuck out on the wing, he was playing through the middle and if he was out wide he was coming inside.
The significance of this is that I have said since his first year at Spurs that he is not a natural winger and he scares the living daylights out of defenders when he runs at them through the middle, I've argued it on this forum time and again that's where he should play but because he is fast managers play him on the wing.
Maybe Martinez had seen the same thing and is getting the rewards of a Man of the Match Lennon.

Or maybe its because a teams manager is actually playing him ? Radical thing to do, I know.

A far more effective player, offensively and defensively, than Townsend.
It would be difficult to find a player on this planet who is a down grade on Townsend.

Watching the highlights on MOTD last night, Lennon looked like a man who has found his Mojo once again. No coincidence that this is a consequence of game time, and a manager who believes in him.

"get rid of lennon, all he does is work hard and track back"

"ffs, get lamela in the team! we need him because he works hard and tracks back!"

Watched the whole Everton match and he played well, but do we really believe he is worth taking back? He has been here for years and has never set the world a blaze. He has periods of great form and then drops off dramatically. I am happy he is playing well, but honestly see the same player that blew hot and cold with us.

Poch didn't want him and so he moved on. It's time we all do the same. Lennon isn't getting any younger and his ebbs and flows of form are his MO.

Why are people trying to rewrite history? I don't seem to remember many people objecting to him going out on loan given how poor he had been.

Exactly.

How many games did he going missing in?

He also had very little end product.

Tracking back people say? I remember him strolling back against Liverpool

Was thinking the exact same, very few wanted him around because all he was good at was defending. Now that chadli looks a pub player and townsend remains as ineffective as ever Lennon is now seen as a solution

There was that game Jol played him there against Chelsea (that Saturday early morning game after we'd played in Seville the Thursday night) where he was unplayable for 45 minutes.

It's balmy he was loaned out. Yet another question mark over the manager for me.

Pretty sure there were quite a few who wanted him to stay. I would have sold Townsend in January for a decent amount rather than loaning lennon
