Hercules said this was done barring a calamity - if anything our season got far better than when he said that, so I’m anticipating he’ll be having his picture taken in a Spurs shirt soon
The worst pandemic in a century probably counts as a calamity to be fair. Whatever money we had set aside for young talents, the Jack Clarke budget if you will, may have been redirected to cover lost revenue.

Can Eze play in a midfield 3 or wide forward ? Or is he just a 10. Seems to me we have Alli who if plays we need to build the team around ....

Can't see us signing many of these young talents we're linked too, mostly because I don't see where the money is coming from as our players aside from Kane have little value atm so I don't see who we sell for a good fee to get these players.

He is undoubtedly a massive talent, but I seriously doubt Mourinho woudl play him / trust him. Would be another Ndombele situation.

I suppose you could call Covid a calamity tbf. I’m putting you on ignore for pointing out a flaw in my logic though, no hard feelings.

I do think we're very much still interested in Eze and are a front runner for his signature, despite media reports pushing our interest into the periphery. If you remember, for a good portion of the summer transfer window United were reported as the most interested in Ryan Sessegnon. This "cooled interest" phenomenon seems to be a frequent occurrence when we're reportedly "closing in" on another transfer target, a la Hojbjerg given our reputation for drawing out transfers late into the window.

Transfer buzz is also of course reported on day to day movements and I think these early window updates correlates strongly with how media outlets selectively push their news. Casting a wide net of "interested" clubs is good for reaching a broad audience and maximizing interactions, especially when they're already pulling in clicks from Tottenham fans through frequent updates of an "imminent" Hojbjerg deal.

He's definitely been a long term target for us, even though Mourinho's tenure, with him reportedly even visiting Hotspur Way in the winter. With our recent transactions with QPR I'm sure a deal has been in discussion for awhile. The player's other reported suitors — West Ham, Villa, Palace, Leeds, and WBA also probably aren't swaying his head too far away from us.

Piecing our recent loan activity with QPR together with each club's transfer news, it makes sense that we view this as an opportunity to make a "cute and smart" deal by exchanging players and minimizing our financial outlay, similar with our expected transaction with Hojbjerg and KWP.

Hercules also suggested this could be the case in the ITK thread.
Hercules said:
My only punt would be QPR ends with Eze part of whatever Daniel Levy is trying to do. Part ITK, part opinion!

QPR reportedly want to make Amos permanent and also bring in a new CB. Cameron Carter-Vickers, who made a huge splash in the Championship for Luton, is likely another player that the Rs have earmarked given Mark Warburton's strong ties with our academy setup.

On top of these two potentially permanent deals, given that we had 2 of our players on loan at QPR last season, we could also be looking to send them another player on loan as a sweetener. If Eze and Bright Osayi-Samuel are on their way out, they are likely looking to bring on some new attacking players and may be interested in taking on Jack Clarke for another season or potentially Jack Roles who impressed on his loan to League Two last season.

he’s got huge potential, great balance on the ball but his off the ball work in and out of possession needs a lot of improvement. He can be very static. I would love to sign him though because he could turn out great. I would have worried about getting enough game time under Mourinho but with Europa and the other cups there should be enough games. No slight on Gedson but I’d rather have Eze in the squad. I think he could play deep in midfield too

I'd see if we can convince them to let us buy now with Amos included and they keep him for a season. We give Gedson a go for another season and see how we feel about him.

Doubt Eze would agree to that. He’s ready to play in the Premier League.

But would Eze want to stay there for one more year or does he fancy his chances in the PL now?

If so, he will prefer Crystal Palace because he'll be guaranteed games.

Look at Sessegnon, we chased him for a long time and he can't get any minutes. Eze will be advised to be wary of that.

If you were a young kid and a PL team with an abundance of attacking players wanted you would you choose them? Or would you choose a team where you had more chances to shine and standout.

Not dissing the fella, but Just out of interest, how many times have you watched him play live?

I saw both him and Clarke (only 10mins, a late sub) v Bristol City before lockdown and Eze barely got in the game - lost the ball multiple times, was easily knocked out of his stride, little in the way of creativity - he just looked lost to be honest, as did Clarke.

Maybe I caught him (both) on a bad day?
