Could be relatively cheap option too, has something to prove.

I'd go for AVB over moyes. Blanc is the interesting one for me, proven winner throughout his career and has got the french playing well again. Interesting 2 weeks coming up i think.

I can't decide who I'd prefer out of AVB and Blanc to be honest!

I hope it doesnt take 2 weeks, we need someone in ASAP IMO, they can then get to work on finding the players they want and not leave it to the last minute again like last year.

I would probably want AVB over Blanc, dont know why though

Come on guys. Debate all you like but name calling and what not is not needed.

As for AVB, I really can't decide on him. I can see the positives and the negatives of appointing him. I'm definitely sitting in the 'no idea' camp at the moment!

I'm done discussing this with you - if you want to believe it, go ahead. Mummy will get you some nice crayons whilst you're at it :)

When have i said it is true? all i have said (and said over and over) is that if it is true then he isn’t best for us, the fact that it is in papers doesn’t mean its all fake as sometime papers can get it right, i am just not dismissing it as crap from the start until i see of hear anything to confirm it is true or crap.

Whilst the Sun story could be either true or untrue (thus making the above exchange a colossal waste of time), the fact that the press seem out to get him is a bit of a concern. He obviously rubbed various people up the wrong way when he was at Chelsea, and although I don't think we want a media darling like Harry, we also don't want someone who is going to get vilified the moment something goes wrong.

Obviously what the press think is hardly the most important issue, but it is one to consider.

As for AVB himself, he was one of the most sought after managers in world football this time last year and I don't think you just lose that because of 6 bad months. Having said that the way he lost the dressing room at Chelsea was alarming, and his tactics seemed quite inflexible. He seemed to pick a system and then play it regardless of the players he had which isn't particularly clever.

He wouldn't be my first choice but I think I'd prefer him over the likes of Moyes and Martinez.

The only people in revolt and upset that Harry has gone are the journalists who think the sun shines out of Harry's backside, not the players.

IMHO of course

Most players are away on holiday...very unlikely that a group of them are planning a revolt on face book...
Yes and who exactly would that be in our current squad.
Ledley? I don't think so.
Not in our DNA to do a Chelsea,
Nobody in that 'senior pro' we run the club and screw the manager mentality.
Is there?

If I can get my tuppence worth in...

I'm firmly in the get AVB camp. This is what stimulates my thinking:

1) He's Mourinho's protoge.

2) Porto's record. Although Porto winning a League title is about as unexpected as a Hollyoaks star getting her kit off for a men's magazine, they did do so undefeated. And also won Portugal's domestic Cup. And the Europa League.

In point of fact, AVB's Porto only lost two competitive games out of 51. And only conceded 16 goals in the 30 game League season. And scored 73.

3) He is a strategist as opposed to a motivator.

Although Harry's arm around the shoulder technique is and has shown to be very effective, to truly go toe-to-toe with the big hitters, we need a strategist. Or rather, a manager's whose primary ability is in being able to employ the superior tactics necessary to beat the opposition.

That's not to say that Harry didn't do tactics. Anyone who says that is fooling themselves, but it wasn't what he was best at.

4) He's young. Although Moyes isn't exactly over the hill and nor is Blanc, AVB's age makes him more flexible, more willing to take risks, more able to roll with a punch.

So, yes, AVB all the way. I'm in a place of great anticipation at the moment, hoping he gets the job.

As I'm not going to be in work this week, I've promised to behave myself. I shall be restricting myself to checking the ITK forum only once every 15 seconds. This is also motivated by the fact that my F5 button has recently gone on strike over workload and conditions.

Guess it all depends on what is meant by happy!

If someone had said two weeks ago that H was going to be given the heave-ho to be replaced by AVB then I wouldn't have been happy. (and consequently not particularly happy with it now)

However, given that H has been tinned, AVB is a reasonable choice of manager to come in. IMO not good enough to remove H for but given the circumstances possibly the best we can realistically hope for.

Can't make my mind up tbh. I can see the pros and cons, I'm sure he must have something going for him or else the Chav's would not have appointed him in the first place. If it is AVB I will support him and hope he does wonders for the Club.

They'll be some who would say that a cadre of players led the revolt against Ramos. The difference is that with Ramos we were rooted to the bottom of the table.

Chelsea weren't in any danger. AVB was subjected to pressure from two sides and there was nowhere for him to go but out. Onthe one side, he had Fat Fuck Lampard, his toyboy lover John Terry, and the psycopath known as Drogba all agitating and destroying the dressing room. And from the other side, he had Abramo-swine pushing him to get rid of the dead wood and rebuild the Chelsea squad.

The primary cause of our slump under Ramos was Ramos. The primary causes of Chelsea's slump under AVB were the players themselves.
