Davies the MOTM. His keen header during the scramble would have tied the match anyway, but he smartly aimed it directly at the opposing players right hand, leading to the equalizer AND two red cards. ;)

I managed to watch 95% of the game via russian or bulgarian tv channel Diema ... premier and bein sports had issues. I was a dire game in many ways, i give a report in the other tread rather than here but here are my ratings

Lloris - 6 : had nothing really to do, goal not his fault

Davies - 2 : Should be banned from trying Toby like long balls, crosses in general terrible and for their goal his man got the better of him that setup the goal. Only thing he actually did all game was the header that lead to the pen that why he;s got a 2 only.

Dire - 2.5 : Got done like a kipper on more than a few occasions, luckily the oppenents were crap so they couldnt take advantage, as above with davies should be banned from toby like long balls, they both lost possession far too many times trying this (Also have no clue why Dier is on free kick duty?? he really shouldnt be, but thats not his fault its JM allowing him )

Sanchez - 4.5 : He actually did ok and look far more assured than any of the defenders and in general was good except for the goal he got done positionally hence a couple deducted of his rating but im giving benefit of doubt due to not pre-season and fitness.

Doherty 4 : Was meh, nothing great but not poor, again benefit of the doubt in terms fitness and lack of pre season

Holberg - 5/6 : TBF he did what he needed to well, did his job, not outstanding but was easy for him against poor opposition, i wish he would not try to learn bad habits from doing sideways passing or passing backwards and not doing first touc quick passing which i know he can do, just needs to mix it up where appropriate

G Lo Celso - 7 : He was what we were missing on sunday 100%, he was lively, he was the link up man, he was trying to create, found space like modders and trying to quicken the game, pass with first touch without controlling the ball first. When Ndoms came on he looked like he had someone who was on the same wavelength as him, did peter out 2nd half but thats down to fitness only

Sissoko - 3 : Didnt do too much wrong to be fair, but really didnt do anything at all, like a passenger, waving his arms who to pass to and standard slowing the game, side pass and back passing, as i said nothing very bad just a passenger almost like having 10 men at times couldnt see what he was contributing

NDombele 7.5 : Wow the only positive in the game with gio, he changed the game when he came on, lively first tuoch passing, quick passing, through balls, he linked wit Gio well (only 2 with a creative brain) and of course the goal. The only shining light, it was poor opposition, even with strolling his was cut above. Gave glimpses of his true talent, defo changed the game and tempo not just cos of goal

Son - 4.5 : Looked off te pace, bit like he couldnt be bothers at times, bit looking tired/lethargic, wasnt sure if it was purpose of just him being a bit off. He did miss a glorious chance in 2nd half, should ave scored, its hard to describe a bit of meh performance, ok in spurts but missing at other times

Kane - 5 : Scored the pen, tbf he didnt really have any other chances, nothing clear cut at all, one or two half chances. Looked a frustrated figure, kept dropping back in to mid to get a touch of the ball, he didnt have service at all really. Just looked a bit pissed off (cant blame him it was a crappy game )and like Sonny he seemed like he could of tried a bit harder but didnt at times , as i said a frustrated figure.

Bergwijn 4.5 : Should have had a blatant pen, no bias it was a stone cold pen in 1st half. He had his moments few bright sparks then going missing a bit, its becoming the norm with him, some good flashed, not work off the ball, goes missing then a few and a few good flashes,

Lamela 5 : Latish sub, did he is usual good things, pressing, energy, played like he gave a crap, involved in the nice one touch passing for the goal, after that it was a spurs win, so he made sure to keep the ball possesion and run down the clock

Lucas 4.5 Again latish sub not much to do, was involved with the one touch passing for the goal, looked a bit tired not chasing things, but probably that was more game management near the end

Going away to the fifth best team in Bulgaria and beating them when they’re down to six players is no mean feat. 10s all round. Except Premier Sports.

I don't really understand what went wrong today? With that team and opponent we should have absolutely battered them. Not up to speed yet?

Doherty looked like he’s never played right back in his life. Davies got into some very good offensive positions but his decision making and final ball was pants. Dier was a car crash... easily turned and woeful passing. It was Sanchez and Lo Celso’s 1st game and they also missed most of pre-season too. Son was playing for himself and not the team... he’s going backwards at the mo.

So yes, a mixture of not up to speed, realising Doherty is a RWB, not a RB, Sissoko is Sissoko, Davies is Davies and Dier isn’t good enough to be a starter for a top 4-6 club.

Davies, Sissoko/Hojbjerg midfield and Kane & Son looking like they haven't touched a ball in 6 months.

A few things really:

- Typical Jose cautious approach (Sissoko and Hojbjerg).
- Ref denied a stonewall penalty.
- Stevie hitting the bar.
- 10 men behind the ball.
- General lethargy, poor fitness and a lack of creativity/offensive strategy.

I think if we played that game another 10 times with the same lineup, most times we nick a goal in the first half and then, in forcing them to come out, we pick them off and win 3-0 or more.

Problem is, Jose's negative approach means we don't create many chances so if we don't take any of the few we do make and decisions go against us, things can get ugly. Still a pretty bad performance but their goal flattered them and felt like a bit of a freak.

Didn't see it but saw the 'highlights' and will vote for Ndombele for that thunderbolt finish.

Ndombele for me. I love the fast accurate passes right into the danger area. Am I just cranky? But Im really frustrated with Davies hitting the first man. He lacks the pace (or trickery) to get half a yard in front of the defender - but still tries to cross.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Son is too inconsistent to be considered truly world class.

World class on his day? Probably. However, sure as hell wasn’t today or against Everton. When he doesn’t perform he is so frustrating to watch.

What about the other no shows?

The whole team is in a process of evolution. I saw some progress today. It wasn't great but some encouraging stuff and what looks like a plan.

I'm really liking Dier at cb and not seeing the negative stuff. It's like I have spoon vision with him I guess...

Watched the highlight. It was Doherty who assisted Davies's header. I think he really is a constant threat in the corner (Yes, the defending was meh against that one-two passing )

I don’t know how he stays on the pitch some games. Wonderful when he is in full flow but his ball control can be dreadful far to often.

Very hard to do this based on the 26 minutes I got in the first half and the 20ish in the second half In a match tweeted I missed all three goals and both red cards, but here goes:

Lloris I really can’t comment on because the parts of the match with a working feed audit involve him at all.

Doherty seemed like he could be passed around defensively but the trade off is that he shows strong running, link up play and attacking threat.

Sanchez seemed pretty untested defensively and tried to pass our intelligently.

Dier’s passing out and distribution was poor but defensively he seemed unruffled by anything he had to deal with.

Davies got forward well and wasn’t overly tested defensive.

Højbjerg looked comfortable on the ball distributed quickly and efficiently, was string withhis reading and ball winning. I liked how he dropped between the centre backs when we had possession. Couple of what I’m learning are trademark inexplicable passes to nobody.

Lo Celso was ok, probably our most progressive player, but with some obvious ring rust. Seemed to improve when Ndombele came on.

Sissoko as ever gave a lot but his touch and passing let him down a few times and his struggle to get the ball under control hindered him. Also, he seems to still have a good top speed but has lost his acceleration and was often treading water while trying to control the ball.

Bergwijn wasn’t great. Couple of nice touches and ideas but he struggled to really impact things and was marshalled well by the opposition.

Son was very poor, he really didn’t seem able to get there ball out from under his feet and hours decision making when he did have the ball was rubbish.

Kane also just seemed unable to get going, just looking quite cumbersome really bar a couple of occasions where he dropped deeper and passed well. Not leading well from the front. Good penalty.

Ndombele seemed like he wanted the ball and wanted to get it forward from the second he came on. Midfield looked balanced with him in it. Nice goal, starting and finishing the move.

All I saw from Lamela was a cut in from the right and shot which was pleasing on the eye but ultimately came to nothing.

All I saw from Lucas was his cross for our winner in the highlights, which was very good.

Man of the match was Back Soon. Involved in every key incident, really dominated proceedings and seemed to be everywhere on the pitch.

The problem is that he always stops, tries to set up the ball and cross. Always goes low straight into the defender. Must do it much quicker..

Some points of interest from who scored:

Ndombele in 33 minutes had 31 touches, only 11 fewer than 42 of across 60 minutes from the man he replaced Sissoko. It also gives him one our second highest touches per minute, with the highest from any player being Højbjerg with 91 across 94. Lo Celso is third with with 84 across 94. He also managed 26 passes in that time compared to Sissokos 35 in almost double the time, and comparing favourably to Lo Celso May 70 across the entire match.

Højbjerg, who has been decried in this thread, didn’t lose possession once despite being our play who saw most of the ball. He also played our most passes with 85. Lo Celso managed 70 by comparison.

Kane had our most shots, predictably, with 4, 2 on target. He also had as many touches (40) as Son but three fewer than Bergwijn’s 43 despite the Dutchman being subbed. He completed both his dribbles, but didn’t attempt a single tackle. Given than neither of our other forwards did either, I’m I minded to think this may have been instruction.

We conceded from the oppositions only on target attempt.
