Now Sherwood has gone he has no reason to leave, yet another upside to him getting sacked

I honestly feel like some people have forgotten just how good Sandro is when in full pomp.

It's not just his great break up play and ability to knick balls away without leaving his feet, but he can also put in very well timed surging forward runs off the ball and on it.

I think Capoue is the better passer, but for me Sandro is more mobile and stuffy defensively, at least equally good driving forward and possesses a rasping shot at times.

A couple of years ago I'd have said Sandro would end up being signed by Madrid for 40m+ and had the potential to be the best DM in the world.

Whilst the injuries have been too frequent, serious and worrying, there is still a chance he could find that level in the future if he can put his troubles behind him.

Rememeber, he also named his band "Spurs" on Fantasy Football Club :ROFLMAO:

I think he genuinely does care about the club.

This is rare in the days of instant riches, and particularly in one who wasn't raised and nurtured by us.

The same Italian journalists, di Marzio and his clan, are again saying Sandro is likely to leave for Italy with an option being Napoli.

:(

One of the only players I have real affection for.

Well Di Marzio has been very accurate with his proclaimations.

For me it can mean 1 of the following:

1, The club believe that he hasn't and won't recover sufficiently from the knee injury he sustained

2, The club have not been impressed with his behaviour and public persona

3, Pochettino dropping the "new manager" trick of getting rid of a top player upon entering a new dressing room.

I think it is more likely to be no1, knowing how popular he is among the supporters.

Di Marzio is actually pretty reliable when it comes to this stuff, especially with Italian rumours. This one could have legs, and I understand. Poch likes his players to work their ass off, but also have ability on the ball. Capoue will be ahead Sandro this season IMO, as well as likes of holtby and even someone like siggy seeing their stock rise.

If anything I think is number 2. Even I got really bummed out with Sandro for a while when he tweeted that stuff so the club was probably even more anoyed by it.

I find it really hard to belive that Pochettino have said anything at all regarding who to keep or sell yet.

I know it's not the biggest sample set but his performance against Everton (where Lloris suffered concussion) away was "old Sandro". In that game he played very well in the first half - and we dominated. Then he picked up another injury and got replaced by Dembele. We were noticeably worse thereafter. So perhaps he can get to those levels pre the big knee op.

Update from DiMarzio:

Sandro is in the sights of Naples. This is nothing new, the Brazilian midfielder was followed for some time and his entourage has already had contact with Napoli. Sandro is the list of midfielders Benitez is one of the favorite names and it is not impossible to achieve. You can leave Tottenham, but at the moment there have not been offered yet, Napoli has made no official steps. The Brazilian now expected to speak with Pochettino, new manager of Tottenham. He will understand if the coach has the intention to focus on him, then decide on its future. Waiting for the right offer from the Naples: if it meets Tottenham, Sandro will be ready to say yes. Although Pochettino wants to keep it ...

Before he got injured, he was immense. He is also a better passer than most give him credit for and he likes to break forward, so I think Poch will be a fan.

Sounds like Di Marzio knows there is interest, but doesn't know if Sandro will want to leave of if we even want to sell.

That was my impression (through the broken English translation). I still think there's a lot left to be determined before we even explore the options in regards to selling him. Pochettino will want to speak with him, Sandro will want to speak with Pochettino and I'm sure a lot of it will have to do with just how different Pochettino is in comparison to Sherwood.

I still shudder when I think about what might have happened if Sherwood remained as our coach.

The broken English translation is pretty much correct. Key points are that there hasn't been any offer and Napoli haven't officially declared interest. Basically, it's a bit of 'join the dots' journalism. Sandro wasn't too happy under Sherwood and wasn't getting game time. Italian clubs such as Milan, Napoli and Inter have shown interest in him. Di Marzio is just speculating that if he doesn't get on with Poch, and Napoli (or anyone else for that matter) come in with a bid that we'll accept, then he'll be off. Nothing groundbreaking here.
