If Son is considered the backup striker, that means when we don't play Kane we end up playing our backup main striker (Son) and also our backup attacker (whoever then replaces Son in his actual position).

So without Kane, we're basically playing our entire second string attack rather than just slotting in a replacement for Kane.
Or just slotting in Gil into a more fluid fast attack?

The whole thing is s cheap piss-take. This is ALL on Daniel Levy!?

All summer our remit was priority defence and a striker! Midfielder if we moved one or two. Don’t blame Paratici. This is totally and utterly ALL on Daniel Levy. There is no disputing and arguments to defend him here. In total creatively (thanks to Para) we done good business. We fecked up over a forward, because he sees things differently. Pee off!

And the 'good news' or 'naming rights' or whatever it was, hasn't materialised yet.

That said, I suppose it's better to tell your rivals you've got a cash injection after the transfer window closes.

Am i the only one secretly holding out for either a news outlet or one of our ITKers suddenly saying: 'Wait one minute... maybe we're not done after all'??

I know. I know. But I will continue to hold out hope, even though my head tells me, 'Shut up. We're done.'!!
Don’t do it to yourself mate. No chance now

Or we play with 3 interchangeable forwards like Moura, Bergwijn and Gil for example.
City have one striker. Liverpool I’d argue only have one who they never play.
It’s not ideal I know but there are so few good strikers around. There are 2 or 3 really good younger ones though coming through.
See my previous post - sorry but your reasoning is clutching in my opinion

Red is not good enough, orange is where you made up their position to make us look stronger.

This is what's left:

GK: Lloris, Gollini
RB: Emerson, Tanganga
CB: Romero, Rodon,
LB: Reguillon, Davies, Sess
DCM: Skipp, PEH
CM: Dele, Lo Celso
Wide Forwards: Son, Moura, Bergwijn, Gil
CF: Kane, Scarlett

On what planet are you saying Rodon is fine but Sanchez and Dier arent good enough? Come on your going OTT here? Ndombele isnt good enough either apparently to be part of the acceptable squad yet sessegnon at left back is? I get it that you dont like Levy and wanted more for the window but to criticise someone elses post and then post something just as dubious isnt helping?

Ok Guys/Gals/Whatever you identify as as long as it isn't and Arsenal Fan
Lets be nice for the last little bit of the window
Window’s dead, Toronts- been smashed and burnt since this morning. What’s happening here is a long, drawn out catharsis. A sort of death by a thousand words, if you like

I think that I agree with Levy on this one. Right now he will get a crap deal on naming rights but in a few months as things get more normalized the value will go up big time

Rob , I feel, your squad is assessed in the eyes of Jose and not Nuno.

Fact that Nuno is able to get a tune of Dier-Sanchez matters. Rodon has not had a kick with Nuno and rarely played under Jose. So, not sure how is better than the other 2.

We gave Jose one of the best squad we ever had and he messed it up. Transfers can help to an extent. It comes down to managers. With Nuno, its early days - but I feel players look to be improving. I dont rate Ndombele much given his work rate- but feel he is someone , Nuno has to get onboard given his qualities on ball

I dont think we will take the cups seriously. If PL is the holy grail, this squad is more than good enough to go on a good run

Appreciate your post and your frustrations

time to learn - levy won’t change

It doesn’t matter what line people are spun, what bullshit they are told - levy will always be levy

will be the same in jan and next summer and so on

For me the creative midfield issues could be solved by Ndombele and Lo Celso if they can regain form.

The most glaring issue in the squad has been in those wide attacking areas.

Son/Berg/Moura/Bryan just hasn't got enough goals and no amount of mental gymanastics will change that.

Son is the onyl one who scores with any consistency. Moura and Berg are absolutely useless at scoring goals in the PL. I believe they have 4 PL goals in around 50 games between them. I mean, if you don't laugh you'll cry.

Just look at that again

Moura 31 games 3 goals.
Berg 21 games 1 goal.

Utterly horrific stats.

Bryan is an unknown quantity but much rather to be creative rather than a goal getter by the looks of him.

That puts all the onus on Son and Kane yet again.

It's really really negligent. We should have brought in a RWF.

I can’t be bothered to get angry about it but it’s such a shame that we’re never brave enough to go the extra mile to sign that one or two players who will really make the difference over the course of the season. We were joking after the City game about how Levy would use beating them as an excuse for not needing to invest as much in the team. We’ve started well, especially results-wise, but those players who weren’t good enough last year are probably still going to turn out not to be good enough over the course of a season. I back Nuno fully but good coaching can only get you so far. I’d be delighted to be proved wrong - for Dier and Sanchez to continue their form for 38 games, for Kane and Son to stay fit the whole season, and for it to be unnecessary to have a forward thinking, creative CM of any kind. I just think, like many others here, these first three results have given us an overly positive view of the squad.
