ok so he got sent off, got himself far too wound up and was stupid... HOWEVER...

What a fabulous player we have, he really is top class and he looks like he may have a really positive influence on the lads around him. Ive been really impressed by his attitude and the supportive (and sometimes earbashing when needed) words to his team mates.

Shame about the sending off tonight but I really think he is the business.

Yeh top performance from him. Worked his socks off and showed his quality.

Was always going to get sent off - there were two other incidents before that one and to be honest I think Harry should have taken him off.

Even the sending off itself has positive attached to it. It shows that he's willing to throw himself into a game and won't shy away from the task. He just needs to cool his jets slightly.

In my opinion, if he was going to miss a game in the Group Stages I'm glad it's Inter away. It's the only game left there isn't a realistic posibility of us getting all 3 points.

He was truly fucking amazing though. Didn't stop working from the minute he stepped on the pitch, to the minute he, unfortunately, stepped off of it.

I'm sure if we had drawn or lost there would be no positives about the sending off! It was reckless of him - I don't think there is any defending that. If Pav had done it people would be going mental at him saying how stupid he was.

indeed, perfect game for him to miss really as its best we set up with a tighter central 3 away in italy, probably JJ, huddlestone and mod

love the man but he dove on the ground holding his neck /face when a player barely touched him.not the spurs way and i dont like having to defend players with work colleagues mates etc when its indefensible.reminds me of when zokora took a dive against pompey and jol had to have a quiet word.............................bar that, super player

He is cut from slightly different cloth than most of our players isn't he? That aggression and overt will to be the best he can isn't a style favoured by most of our demure players. Hope he fits in.

He really should have been subbed shortly after he gave a foul away down our right, he was fortunate he didn't get his 2nd yellow then. Harry really should have seen that coming.

But best player on the pitch by a long way.

The missing link.

Exactly, not so much for his positional role (though he plays in a useful one as well), but he has both the mentality and the ability to take charge of a game. The combination of those two in the same player is what we've lacked in the last few seasons, despite having an excellent squad with many good players. As others have said, it looks like we finally have our Gerrard, our Lampard, our Rooney...someone who won't give up and will hopefully lift the rest of the team's game.

Agreed. And everyone could see he was going to get sent off. It was stupidity and could have cost us dear.

But I still love him. :]
