I feel like things were really ramping up between both sets of fans but the international break seems to have deflated things.

Arsenal Mania
  • We should win this easily at home. No arguments about that. Badly want a thrashing
  • we haven't lost to sp*rs at home in 12 years. and no, we didn't lose the CL place at their place, we lost it against southampton at home.
  • can’t lie, I’m dreading this game. We usually don’t play well after International breaks.
  • Real test here. Threw away Champions League football at their ground last season and made the same mistakes at Old Trafford. We’re at home so we should do well but interested to see if we fall into the same trap.
  • I'm having the bad feeling the ref is gonna screw us over, sending off for some soft tackle, wrongly disallowed VAR goal or ref gifting them a goal by not checking VAR.Really anxious over this.Bad memories from last season, we were playing well till the Ref decides to f*** us over
  • They are a dangerous team, and are clearly better than last year, but we are just the better rounded side.Control the ball well, execute our plans to stop them from being effective into place, have the crowd behind the boys and we will win this one. We are very strong at home and it will be on show this Saturday.Arsenal 2-0 Sp**s.
  • Very excited for this.. We need to win to keep our momentum going and to get some distance between us and Sp**s.I've seen them vs. Leicester, they are terrible on the ball but execute their gameplan perfectly. We need to be assertive and be very alert if we lose the ball, close them down quickly.Otherwise it could be us vs. United all over again
  • Son is properly back in form... Hatrick vs Leicester and then scored in both international games.
  • Saliba and Gabriel will put him in his place again! Think we will win 3-0 this time. Saka scoring twice. On to Chelsea for another three points and all the Arsenal haters crying themselves to sleep! ?
  • we do tend to smash them at home.
  • Sp**s are not worthy of fear
  • Fine margins this game, anything can happen here, despite the history in our favour. So we shouldnt be surprised if this ends in a loss on Saturday. Upset? Yes of course! This isnt an excuse for the manager and team, but rather the reality of the level of competitiveness amongst the top six and Sp**s are a top side. The real measure of our credentials, whether top four or more, will come from how we deal with teams outside the top six. That is where I feel we are amongst the best in the league, even better than Sp**s.All that said, we have the tools to win on Saturday. Cut out the mistakes and execute our plans well, and we will win
  • Yeah, even with complete control of proceedings, like you see with City and Chelsea. You could still lose or draw a game like this. Conte has them playing a defensive game ahead of all else, and combined with top finishing, makes them a danger. But, their conceding of the ball as they are so happy to do makes them vulnerable as well. You give a good side enough of the ball and they can and likely will punish you, throwing your game completely out. We have that ability, City, Liverpool, Chelsea and United have that too. West Ham almost took them apart and Sporting did (albeit Sporting playing them at their own game). So it will be interesting to see if they just sit back and absorb everything.

The ref fucked them over last season lol.

You mean after Holding had done several yellow card offences on Son before finally being sent off?

Some fans are absolutely deluded…

I love how they think they have our number. They are convinced that Arteta has learnt from their United loss and will somehow find a way to both play their own game and also stop us playing ours. It's just not how football works. To stop us playing our game they will need to commit less bodies forward which in turn forces them to have less players in our half controlling the possession.

It is definitely going to be a battle but I think how we played Vs City and Pool last year shows that we can definitely cope with the kind of possession they will be having..... I just haven't seen many examples of how they will cope with us if we are properly on it.

Whatever helps you sleep at night

Yep. Saliba really kept Son in his place last season in the French league.

Tbf some sensible responses in the mix of blind loyalty to their side.

it will be a tough game, it’s likely to be close, I am expecting them to have more of the ball and being the home side they are probably favourites, especially given their form (they are playing better football than us).

that being said, we have the team to win too.

excited to watch the game, however this result won’t define the season for either team, it’ll just give bragging rights.

mid I was a betting man, I’d be going for a score draw though.

Agree with all of that. Their fanbase is a bit strange so have to take the more nonsensical with a pinch of salt.

As you say, they'll be favourites - at home and on good form but we do have the players to get something out of the game.

A lot for me depends on the formation/game plan on our side. Should be a good game for the neutral, a nerve wracking one for both sets of fans.

I'd love for us to have a similar result to 2010 when we came from 2 down to win 3-2. Think they'd self combust if that happened

It would be perfect is we just simply sat back and countered them, and scored every time we attacked. That would really wind them up. Especially if the goals were all dubious offsides over ruled by VAR and a dubious penalty awarded by VAR. It would be nice to totally out play them and win 5-0, but the tears are saltier when sprinkled with a sense of injustice.
