It's not Pochettino's fault we have an average, unbalanced and inexperienced squad.

I am concerned though that the pressing game he had at Southampton has disintegrated and we look like the lethargic team we had under Villas-Boas again.

Levy must back the manager if we are to get anywhere close to qualifying for the CL again, I doubt he will and therefore I fear for Tottenham and Pochettino this season.
Pochettino has to shoulder most of the blame. His rigid and uninspiring manner is not delivering the desired returns irrespective of the personnel he's inherited or bought.

It is incorrect for people to say that Poch's system isn't working because we haven't got the players. If, at the time of sending the players out, a manager hasn't got the players he needs to play the system he wants to play, the answer is simple; play a system that gets the best out of the players you have.

During the transfer windows you obviously try to get the players to fit the system you, ideally, want to play. However, if, for whatever reason, you don't get those players, again, you need to formulate a system that gets the best out of the players you have.

Poch isn't adapting in any way, which is massively worrying.

100%

You only have to look at the last 2 games to see that

No , any time Leicester started to break we went into crisis mode (Chadli excepted of course) and fouled
or raced back . I reckon there was a fair amount of effort from many . You can't pen back a form team like Leicester like we did without effort . No big gaps in our defence , that's effort imo .

Lethargic in terms of creative ideas ,absolutely .

That suggests to me that our set up when attacking is flawed, in England you need to be more direct because of the pace of the transitions.

We build up slowly then end up over commiting because the opponent is set defensively, move breaks down bang bang bang they're running at our centre backs.

Very much so. Teams that have succeeded In the PL have always been quick and powerful sprinkled with a few playmakers or match winners. We were our most successful in the last 10 years when we had that in the side.

The only thing that grates me with pochettino is why he makes signings then leaves them out of the squad for two weeks like yesterday and we are desperate for that player to come on as we have no other options. Just daft if you ask me but Poch out no bloody way. Let him get his own players it obviously isn't Jim if he doesn't get the players to play his system...
Njie wasn't available for the game as he was in France all week awaiting a work permit.

To a certain degree you are right but Lambert is 33 hardly a youth player and for that matter Lallana is 27 and Lovren 26 ;)
I was referring to the players sold on the youth front at Southampton you look to Ward Prowse, Shaw and Chambers, at Spurs you have Kane, Bentaleb, Mason and Rose.

Fair one I did ask about this but was told he was available but generally my point stands however it not being a big one just a frustrating one that's all
Poch is quoted on the OS as saying he needs time to train with the squad, I think this gets back to the system which requires everyone to know their role with limited room for off the cuff players, albeit it appears most of our team seem to ignore their roles e.g. pressing from the 3 behind Kane.

Pedro starts for Chelsea.

No fucking about, straight in there bang!

From a proper manager who sees a problem with his team and attempts to address it

p.s there were pics of N'jie training with us the day after he signed so I don't know where this talk of him having to train came from.

Slight difference between Pedro who spent 10 years (200+ apperances) with Barcelona a team that won 5 La Liga titles, a truck full of cups, 3 CL titles, a WC and a Euro title for Spain and N'Jie who has less than 50 career appearances for club and country...

Not saying i don't agree with the sentiment......but there is an absolutely massive difference between putting Pedro into the lineup and N'Jie being available....

I'm going to check with the mods but I think this guy is ITK :)

Meanwhile, Mauricio said Clinton Njie could be available to make his debut against Everton next week. “He was in France for his work permit and maybe next week he will be available. First, he needs to train more with the group.”

No I mean like Leicester City. 40 million pounds net spend since last summer with revenue far less than us.

Net spend :ROFLMAO:

we have wasted that much selling players on the cheap - but seriously 'stadiums' don't build themselves.
This drain on finances was always going to be unpopular - let see what this week brings.

i see a lot of posts saying things will be better when we get a DM & Berahino will it really though?

there have been ZERO sings of improvement or of even having a plan or a system!!!

its not suddenly going to change I thoroughly believe he will be gone by xmas possibly and by the summer definitely

It's true, we don't have the players at our disposable that we would like - The Bales, Modric and VDV of yore. That puts Poch at a massive disadvantage. But we are entitled to ask for a more entertaining style of play - I think we need to loosen the shackles a little.

Who did Harry, AVB and Tim manage it's a side issue.

People are disappointed and upset by the start of the season...but let some please grow up, we all would like better start but shit happens. Please stop overreacting after 3, yes 3! games.

I did not over react... It's basically the same squad as last season. Rameiri is right to comment that our squad quality is similar to Leicester.... But I am hopeful, if Poch make adaptive changes to the squad we had rather than his restrictive and predictive style.

I agree.... It's the manager. The passing accuracy, through runs, movements all need a step up. The squad now looks so tired and lack of ideas. A CM with good passing range will help to improve... We hardly have seen any attack over defenders at the wings.....

There is no doubting that we haven't made forward endeavors through the channels and running off the shoulders of defenders to often since AVB days. Why? For me it is a lack of pace.

Lamela has no pace and cuts in far too soon. We look at Mahrez (spelling) of Leicester and he attacks much further down the channel and cuts in. Lamela will start cutting in about midfield or 10 yards before the box.

Chadli? He does a better job of using the channels but never makes runs forward with any desire (2nd half yesterday he did a better job of making forward endeavors without the ball). He will travel towards the end line and make crosses, which never happens with Lamela.

Our width, with this system, comes from our FB's and with rose in we have much more width, but still lack the runs from behind to open up play.

I harken back to the bale and BEA days when they would partner to open play up. How often do we see our wingers and FB's partner to open up the game with width?

Sorry for the lack of a coherent message, but for me it is a personnel problem. We lack the following.

1) Direct wingers. They can be inverted but ours are not direct. They are not going to run at their man and are very one dimensional.

2) creative mids. Mason offers the most in terms of forward thinking, but Eriksen isn't the maestro we were promised. It is telling when Kane has had to pull the strings in terms of creative passing to open play up.

3) DM. This has been missing for awhile. We need someone to protect the CB's when our width is deployed. Plain and simple.

4) the pressing game. This hasn't been present for me in awhile. We haven't caught anyone off guard and won the ball back quickly.

I dont get this notion about pochs pressing game as of yet because apart from arsenal,Chelsea and Everton last season, i have not seen us use this system to effect.
The question is why after a season in charge are we still not operating his system correctly.
