Michy Batshuayi isn't having the best of times at the moment, according to French newspaper L'Equipe on Sunday. The 22 year old Belgian hasn't scored in his last 5 matches, which is a shock considering he'd been scoring consistently before then.

L'Equipe on Sunday largely absolve Batshuayi of blame, instead pointing the finger at his Marseille teammates for not creating enough opportuities. Marseille are in the market for a winger this month, with a return of Florian Thauvin a possibility, and some added creativity and quality can't come quickly enough.

The French newspaper say Tottenham sent an emissary to watch the recent match against Guingamp, and will have left without much learned, and a very thin scouting file. Spurs are continually watching Batshuayi and Marseille's next match after Guingamp was against Toulouse.

Toulouse won 2-1 and a certain Wissam Ben Yedder scored, his eighth goal in 5 matches at that point. As France Football have reported, Tottenham then made an €8m bid for Ben Yedder, but saw that rejected. Olivier Sadran, Toulouse president, would rather keep Ben Yedder until the summer, when he's said the 25 year old will be sold, but a bid which sees a leap from €8m may well have a chance of success.

To me, that pretty much says, "bid somewhat more than €8m & Yedder is yours" ?

Random thought ...

Just think. If we sign the other Dembele, and this Yedders fella, and next season also have Yedlin, who we can take to our hearts & give him the nickname of "Yedders"

This site could be one very complicated place to hold a conversation about our players

On my way to my coat now :cautious:

this is an interesting player although a real long shot.... he and/or Bernardi would be cool (y)

I think it's funny that Stoke actually think they can get Batshuayi. He's way better than them.

Bojan, Affelay, Arnautovic & Shakiri...

Sure they might not be Chelsea, but they're a team that is on the rise and are more than capable of convincing a decent player to sign.

Let's be clear though, all 4 of those players you've mentioned have tried and failed at CL clubs which has meant that they were massive gambles when purchased. Plenty of talent but all of them have failed to live up to early hype.

Batshuayi is one of the hottest young strikers in europe and will only be leaving Marseille for a top club. Praise Stoke all you like but they're not good enough for him, at this stage at least, it would be a poor move on his part.

That smacks of jealousy to me. It's entirely up to him where he moves to.

Doubt he will go anywhere this window - he's pretty much the only Marseilles player that scores goals and they've got no way to replace him this late on.
