I'm not referring to any comparison to Kane or Mason. I'm only responding to Bobbins' opinion that he hasn't seen enough star quality within his (very limited) performances.Considering you considered his post to have "reasoning and justification" you appear to not have read it or not read it well. As he clearly brings up comparisons with Mason and Kane when at youth level
I completely agree with this. I would like to give him a few seasons of considerable game time before writing him off. I'm just saying that there is nothing wrong with stating that a player hasn't set the world on fire, no matter how harsh a criticism it may be, given his tender age.Simply put its impossible to come to any justified and reasoned opinion about a player whose played so few minutes at that age.
I'll get slated for this no doubt as it's a very unfashionable line to take, but even taking into account that he's very young, I've honestly seen little so far to suggest he'll become anything particularly special.
That's fine, not every player is destined to succeed at the top, and perhaps his game will hugely develop over the next couple of years. But unlike Kane, who scored hatfuls at every age and level, or Mason, who was regularly identified as the most talented of his age group at Spurs, or Bentaleb, who came in from nowhere and dominated midfielders ten years older than him, I'm not currently seeing anything from Onomah which is crying out with potential. I'm just not sure what he's actually supposed to be good at, at the moment. He doesn't score, doesn't really create, doesn't dribble particularly well - he tends to just play fairly accurate short passes and get himself into the odd decent position. He's not actually produced anything so far in his (now quite a few) appearances which is a bit disappointing.
Soz. I look forward to him proving me completely wrong in the future.
His 18 give the lad a break, the kid has star quality wait and see, my only reservation is he needs to add goals but technically and creatively he is something special.
The lad can dribble btw very well.
Don't see why anyone takes the time to debate with someone writing off an 18 year old. Not really an opinion worth debating now is it? Quite laughable really.
They never learn either do they? Waaaay more of our youth players, in recent years, have gone on to be a success with us after being slagged off. I'm still waiting for @kaz Hirai to eat his pants
Yeah but he's wrong in his reasoning from the off.
Others have already noted that he has been identified as one of the best, if not the best in his age group. So he's wrong in that point. Anyone who has seen him against his peers in the U21s will confirm he's an exceptionally good dribbler and good creative player, he is a poor finisher though. So wrong on that count.
So no the post doesn't have reasoning and justification if it's built on a platform that's entirely false.
We don't mind that you have an opinion we just wished it wasn't so shit and uninformedWell I did say I'd get slated so it was to be expected. But only because I knew how unfashionable it is to be even slightly critical of any youth player on here. One less than stellar review and the hipsters are out in force.
How about we don't re-write history though and start accusing me of "writing him off" when all I've done is give my honest opinion based on what I've seen of him so far.
Jeez, the anger you lot react with you'd think I'd tried to run him down in my car and end his career FFS.

I think he'll end up being a sort of Michael Carrick type - not a prolific goalscorer or assisting, but a tempo setter and something setting up the team's attacks.Every time he has been on we have seen the same thing- some skill and very strong but no sign he can create or score, with yesterday's weak shot when well placed typical.
As with all young Spurs players, i want to believe they will be great, but there has to be a basis for that and i haven't seen it yet.
That's because he is a CM playing in AM.Every time he has been on we have seen the same thing- some skill and very strong but no sign he can create or score, with yesterday's weak shot when well placed typical.

I think he needs a loan next season, the guy needs games in the Premiership and he needs to be played in his correct position as well, needs a bit of confidence and an identity.
He'd be lucky to get a prem loan. I think we should give Chrissy H a call and see if he fancies him at Brighton next season.
Just as long we don't send him to West fucking Bromwich. Sending Pritchard to Tony Pulis was a bit like sending Sansa Stark to Ramsay Boulton.........fucking torture!I think he needs a loan next season, the guy needs games in the Premiership and he needs to be played in his correct position as well, needs a bit of confidence and an identity.
