I left on the 88th minute to take two twelve year old fanatical Spurs fans home over 100 miles to get back in the early hours and then up for school, one was late and got a detention for his troubles. If we had waited until after the final whistle they would have got home this morning proper and straight to school.
I can definitely understand that to some extent but at the same time it's sending very negative signals to the team when thousands of fans are leaving almost 10 minutes before the game is up.

actually parked at the ground. was a fkin nightmare getting there initially and arrived at my seat at about 9 mins in but chilled after the game in the ground for about 10 minutes, grabbed a coffee nearby and strolled back to the car about half an hour later. straight out, no queueing and most of the madness was gone. admittedly only had 20 miles to get back but roads were well clear by the time i left, i dare say it was the trains that were an absolute nightmare instead. would defo do the same next time but obv leave a lot earlier from my starting point.

On reflection I think people are being too harsh on team selection. IF we'd gone 2-0 up like we should have then it's a completely different game. Then Wanyama's on the bench ready and fresh to shore up things if they get tense in the second half etc etc...

It's not like Monaco were slicing us up in midfield. They scored from their two first half shots - one of them a bad turnover that luckily fell to their player with our back three rushing forward and caught on their heels.

From that point onwards we were chasing the game which is always frustrating but there was enough to suggest the selection of Son and Allii in CM was working just fine in the first 15 minutes.

Getting out was fucking impossible last night. People were literally jumping over the railings to get down the slopes, don't know whether Wembley is always like this. Didn't get on my train until over an hour after full time.
Always, though it was worse last night, usually half the ground leave followed by the other half after the cup's presented, I reckoned on an hour to the station and was pretty much right.
I think we are going to see plenty of people leaving games early next season, I'm thinking of getting a bicycle.

It wasn't a mistake: I took umbrage at the Pamela moniker.
If you say so. But you could have saved yourself some effort by reading just below my Avi.
He needs to show his ruthlessness and drop Dier, Verts for a start. Pamela (Lamela) should be in the bench. Eriksen, well it may wake him up. The replacements are obvious.

It wasn't just Dier's fault though. Dele left him with a lot to do. If Poch was so determined to play Dele in a CM@ then Wanyama would have been the better pairing. But more importantly Poch apparently hasn't learned that the person most important in the CM2 is Dembele. Although he made light of it after the Liverpool game it is indeed fact that Dembele is the most important person in our midfield.
And Dele is not adequate cover for anyone in our CM2. His defensive instincts/positioning are shit. Multiple times today he gambled and gave up his goalside position only tocome up empty-handed leaving the ball carrier free to come at us. It's simple you can do that but if you fail you must foul the ball carrier. He is not the only one to give up goal side today. Davies and lamela did it as well.

Lamela made the mistake that began the process to the first goal, but the defending from Vertonghen and Davies was woeful. Lamela then made the second goal as well as almost make another a few moments later. So, you can shove the Pamela moniker. Dembele is coming back from lack of playing time. Kane was the one who flattered to deceive tonight: he missed a sitter and continues to suffer from Defoe syndrome, the inability to pass to team-mate in a scoring position.
I shant.

I thought he played quite well last night and looked like the only one of our attackers that looked to make anything happen. Trouble is, he was wrongly selected in a midfield two. We should have kept dier & wanyama as the two without dembele.

I would've started Dembele and given him an hour, played the way we are used to, hopefully getting our noses ahead, then brought on Sissoko for Dembele. That way each player knows what he is supposed to do. No fannying around!

Im feeling pretty indifferent about us being in the CL...i wanted it for so long too. On one hand its great because were playing in the best european club competition in the world but on the other, we know we'll get knocked out eventually.

Oddly missing the europa league...at least we felt as if it was winnable.

Aha, I've spotted the obvious error and so apologies are due to you. I should have directed my answer at Hercules. I didn't see your Av as I was crossing the road at the time. I am sensitive to unwarranted criticism of Lamela.

I shant.
And you shouldn't.

Thought the idea next season was to have reduced capacity (in PL matches at least), hopefully that will decrease the crowds. Also I don't think it helps that we're only playing night-time games there at the moment, so people are rushing to get home because of work/school the following day, as opposed to 3pm kick-offs on a Saturday where a lot of people wouldn't be in as much of a rush to go home.

Just a few observations, Monaco are good, quick moving sharp accurate passing and pressed us well when we had the ball in defence and midfield and took their chances well, none of which we managed in the first half last night.
Poch made the right sub at half time, no complaint about Son but we just needed Mousa, wrong decision not to play him from the start, different team second half which lifted our spirits and gives us hope for the rest of the group games.
Eighty five thousand Spurs fans at the game, pretty awesome, not surprised it took time getting out, an hour from final whistle to Wembley park station but I'd expected longer and it was managed well, got home half past midnight so about an extra hour journey time, it'll be an experience playing at Wembley next year but I will be happy to get back to the Lane.

To take off Son (who made a contribution, and scored two on Saturday) and leave Eriksen on the pitch deifies logic. Agree totally that Dembele made a big difference though. Sissoko needs a run in the starting eleven, move Lamela into the 10 role and Kane can share a bit of bench warming with Eriksen.

A shake up of some sort is now required.

How expensive was the parking if you don't mind me asking?

To comfort you, if we keep up from yesterday we'll be back in Europe League before somebody spots your new reversed avatar.

I would have perhaps done the same before kick off but I thought dembele looked spent after 30 minutes. Poch knew about his fitness levels though I guess.

What are you doing taking 2 twelve year olds out on a school night, knowing that you won't be getting home until the wee hours. That detention is on you...

I think these are good suggestions, but I wouldn't think that the decisions made logic a god.;)
