I think he deserves his own watch now as likely to arounded fringes of squad this season. At 17 in the 2 US tour matches he has shown remarkable maturity and not looked the slightest bit out of place.Everything about him looks pure class. Will be interesting to see how the CM spot pans out over next season or two.Hopefully will be some stuff to discuss on him in coming season.

I'm always excited to hear about our youngsters getting a chance & impressing. Hopefully these young boys will get some minutes in the domestic cups to further enhance their credentials. It brings back the topic of loans vs training with the first team/getting Cup minutes....

I think it's growing in general as fewer parents get married.

My mother-in-law would be appalled to read that .... very (very) old fashioned. She lectured my wife last night about her place being at home with the children and not out making a career for herself ... i opted to remain silent. :)

Personally I think it's a devious & long thought out strategy by Daniel Levy in conjunction with the Premier League to take a percentage of the cost of printing names on the backs of shirts ... That man never wastes an opportunity to make a few extra quid. *sighs with admiration*.

What kind of midfielder is he?

Hadn't really heard much of him before these recent appearances and I usually try and cram the youth thread on here for info as much as possible lol.

A team of Dembeles would be both completely awesome and totally useless at the same time...99% possession, massively skillful ...but almost no shots. Most games would be an entertaining 0-0 draw.

On topic: Had never heard of Tashan until we played PSG the other night, and although I haven't seen enough to form a proper opinion, he certainly looks to have potential. I'm looking forward to seeing how he progresses.

Our academy seems to be producing plenty of players with big potential nowadays. They obviously aren't all going to make it here, but the future looks very bright. Living in Scotland, I often hear about Celtic's European Cup win and how all of the squad was born within 10 miles of Celtic Park except one who was born 30ish miles away. I'd love to see us replicate that....although it's probably an impossible dream. What say you @JimmyG2 ? I know you'd also like to see a completely home-grown team.

Which is a bit odd, because he's shown numerous times that he possesses an absolute thunderbastard of a shot.

I can get enough stick all on my own thank you
.
It is an impossible dream but I'll make do with 7/8 at a time
In the meantime try not to block the youngsters coming through
with meh, agent inspired expensive signings.
We've been linked with a score or more this window.
Now Conte with a Sugar Daddy with pockets full
of ripped off Russian oil money is on our case.

Love seeing this young team building, improving and growing together.
Been watching for over 60 years and never been so happy following Spurs.
Now another half a dozen possibles to follow Kane and Winks.
(Anyone under 21 on signing I count as 'honorary' Spurs
so that gives me Dele, Eriksen( almost) Rose and Davies.)

TOB is quality. There have been clips of him in the SC Spurs youth thread for years as he rose through the age groups. I remember some sensational goals and assists as he beat several players in junior tournaments, and he's defnitely got a bit of Dembele's ability to glide past a man about him.

TOB and Nya Kirby were probably the stand out attacking players of his year group, with Kirby playing more as an AM. TOB seems to have adopted a true CM role, as his game has developed.

When Kirby refused to sign his first pro contract after allegedly being tapped up by Chavski, it was rumoured there were attempts to poach TOB too. Of course we objected mightily to the Chavski approach, and Kirby ended up at Palace.

TOB signed a pro contract with us, and is now being rewarded with first team time, which is great and a signal to all our young players.

One thing that stands out in pre-season games is his physique. He doesn't look out of place next to fully grown men, and he looks stronger than Josh Onomah did at 17.

TOB is the youngest of the Academy group getting first team pre-season minutes, and it suggests Poch rates him very highly.

I hope Edwards and his entourage are taking notes

Don't want to gush to much ,but what I've noticed about him is that thing they say about all great players(I use great very sheepishly).Time on the ball,it's like he is playing at a different pace to everyone else ,never looks stressed or panicking. Was interested to see if that trait was still there in the 2 games so far and for me it was.I think that's the thing that really sets him apart.Hopefully will get some minutes against city, that really will be a great marker to see where he is at.

How come so many young players of ours have shotgun surnames ??

If I remember correctly we played an u18s game once where our back 4 was

Kyle Walker-Peters, Channing Campbell-Young, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kane Vincent-Young

Interesting group of names. Both FBs have 4 letter first names beginning with K end in E. 2 CBs are CC, 2 Youngs etc.

You must have just missed the posts. To save you going in and using search function, he is a very good one.

At u16s, he was Vieira like when he played in his own age group, and would carry the ball with good pace from defence to attack, and hold players off. He is the most Dembele like in my eyes of all our Dembele lites in the academy.

When he played up, for England and since he has come into the u18s he has been a lot more reserved. He holds more. Not mopping up but knitting play. Take the ball in tight spaces hold people off, do his little turn to keep the ball and pass a player then move the ball on. He still can dribble when he wants to and he can still carry it past players, but I don't know why we don't see it as much. Maybe as he has good players around him so doesn't feel he needs to, may be down to instruction, but it is something I'd like to see more of. Another player he somewhat reminds me of is Bentaleb, when Bentaleb would take the ball under pressure feint, someone and be able to turn out of it.

Another thing TOB has going for him is he can play on the wing if he wants, and he does it to good affect. This is another reason I'd say he's Dembele like. He has pace and strength, and decent dribbling, but because he can do his feints and turns to he has enough to beat people on the wing, and so it may actually be an easier route to the first team for him. He isn't a get to the by line winger, like I say he is like Dembelelite. Short passing good. Long passing and creativity is average but that's not his role. He excels in CM and I guess a testament to his ability. I think for 95% of keen England youth watchers he would start in the midfield 2 or in his England age group's best side at full strength. If you don't know that team or haven't seen them, I can only say that is a massive compliment. I'm very excited with this kids potential BUT not to end on a low note, his first year as a scholar was not as good as I thought it'd be. However, I've seen enough for last 3/4 years to know he is class and he was excellent for England this year. I want to see more of him next year before I start calling for him to get chances for our first team. If he was in another club he would be in a different situation. The fact he went on preseason is great, I can't remember anyone going after a first year (Dinzeyi is the only other), but looking at the other youth players it may not mean a whole lot, though he has got on both times. Hopefully he is a great year this year, then I may start expecting some first minutes or first team squad intergration after.
