  • Spurs will be devastating next season if they play they cards right. With Conte at the helm I wouldn't put it past them finishing 3rd ahead of Chelsea
  • Making debts to sign players
  • It is not debt. It is further investment from ENIC who will aquire a higher % of the club. Basically it is Joe Lewis actually giving money for once.
  • they will start to try and win the league
  • Conte will be delighted.
  • Nobody is saying that Spurs will win the league, yet you can all be sure they would be set up like a F1 car and have a go.
  • I wouldn't put it past Conte to have Spurs challenging next season. I think he's probably the most underrated manager here in the Caf.
  • Conte with a good chairman is dangerous but Levy is a disaster so nothing to worry about.
  • Conte's aim is to challenge for the title. No doubt about it.
  • So far our signings under Conte have been absolutely brilliant
  • Conte will have to chose what he wants to win, the PL or progress in the CL. He has never shown that he is capable of handling more than one game a week.
  • expand...Will they have another manager this good with players as good as those two any time soon? Go all in for it I say. Give him the experienced players he likes. City and Liverpool would have to drop off but that could happen
  • It's a very tough question, that's probably being thrown around Spurs' boardroom. I'd say give him what he wants too, but they need something back, mainly, a commitment past the 12 months he's got left.
  • Martial, Maguire and Lingard would be shrewd signings to bolster that squad depth.
  • Could be huge that for spurs. If they’re investing it in to the playing squad I fully expect conte to build a team that’ll close the gap between the top 2 and the rest. Interesting to see who he signs.
  • If spurs truly back him this summer then I can see conte leading spurs to be involved in the title race for a good part of the season
  • Yes he can. He is relentless and made Moses a vital part of title winning side says it all. Benched Terry for most part of title winning team says his authority in dressing room. Conte can make spurs 85+ point team with two three quality additions. So that's easily title challenging total for most part of season. Any slip up from top 2 will give him initiative to be in mix for title race
  • With Conte they could reach heights they haven't reached before. It's a bit bizarre, they were really low for a while, so low that Pochettino got sacked and they resorted to Jose / Nuno for about 5 minutes. Then boom, they get Conte. Out of nowhere their fortunes change and now they're actually backing him.
  • If you thought Conte’s man management of Emerson was good, just look what he’s done with Joe Lewis!
  • If that report is true, it's disgusting that Ronaldo "essentially blocked" a move for Conte - he was obviously the right choice for a caretaker/18 month tenure, and this isn't just hindsight, many people here knew it as well.
  • He was a massive coup for Spurs.

They seem to get it. Nothing remotely amusing though so back to Arsemania or whatever it's called for a good laugh.

That was genuinely painful to read. At least their oil/blood drenched club gives them plenty of happy time I guess.

Quite amusing how much they hate little old Tottenham because we dare to beat them more regularly than most.
They just live in their own little bubble mate. They are the most defensive fanbase going and they think everyone is jealous of them(I born and live in Manchester) ?

Absolutely amazing reading the city fans moaning about us spending money and having to explain ffp to each other like they are newly promoted from the championship.

  • I've no issue with it but I bet they don't get the same criticism we get for spending
  • Quite the opposite, they will be praised for it
  • expand...interesting...would that be the Ton-fifty that they were begging off us for Kane?...I get the impression that they need to balance the books.
  • Exactly, I doubt it will be spent in the transfer market
  • expand...How is it possible within FFP?
  • will probably go to off field activities debt on the ground and such things.
  • It's either that or the daft rags are stumping up 150 mill for Arry
  • So why don’t all clubs who have owners who want to invest do that?
  • Because it doesn't make any difference to ffp, they still have to spend what they earn plus the allowed losses.
  • Ok, so what use does injecting £150m into Spurs actually do?
  • They could pay off debts which were incurring interest.
  • They could use it for thing which don't come under ffp like stadium improvements.
  • Levy making promises to a manager again and likely to not deliver again.
  • Not saying it is highly likely but I honestly would not be surprised if Conte left at some point before September. He is a good manager who deserves to be at a bigger club.
  • Borrowings from owners are on the balance sheet, not subject ffp. You can use them for transfers. See Chelsea. Mansour lent us about £750m, which he swapped for equity.
  • Allows them to bring in a handful of good but not great players, leading to unrealistic offseason expectations which they will predictably fail to meet on their way to sacking their manager by Christmas, finishing trophy-less, and landing somewhere between 4th-8th in the tableThe Spurs way
  • expand...We know how this plays out. Levy to selling club July 1st "I know you want 50M but I'll give you 25M". Selling Club "No, its 50M" Levy to selling club Sept 1st - day the transfer window closes "Ok, make it 27.5M". Sept 2nd Conte quits
  • Tots 150 mil to spend, overwhelmingly positive reaction in the media.City spend 51 mil on Haarland, ruining football.
  • Were they not in for Diaz for £80 million and he ended up for Liverpool for half that figure? If that’s their business acumen I don’t see this money they have invested going very far on helping them improve.
  • If this were City, it would be 'financial doping'. As it's not, it's OK.
  • how much do they owe on the ground?
  • Spuds will be rinsed, Levy won’t be able to handle it. As well as us strengthening, the Rags will be paying big bucks to rebuild along with the Chavs who have been promised £175m per season by the new owners. Add in Arsenal, Newcastle, Real Madrid, Barca, PSG and others £150m won’t get them far and they have to cough up for Becantour and the Kuve fella. Enjoy the 4th place Spuds with the CL participation, the one good thing for them is they’ll probably avoid Atletico as both will end up in Pot 2 of the CL.
  • Hope they get rinsed for 3 mediocre players the twats
They're coping, honestly think they quietly understand if we get our transfers right we have an outside shot of challenging them.

You have to be careful with Redcafe posters as there are more Spurs fans on there than on here.

It's so bloody weird, I go on there and every 3rd poster has the tag 'Arsenal fan' or 'Everton fan' or (and I deeply sigh when I see it) Spurs fan.

Why would you go hang out on a Manchester United board? I just don't understand it. Why would you want to talk to Mancs all day???

All that lot does is post sycophantic comments about United for likes anyways lol. It's just bizarre.

The Manchester United fans I knew and grew up with (a lot) were always generally more level-headed.

My main issue with them was always arrogance with some, like "we will just take Modric", for example. Or when they were always so cocksure they'd beat us. But back then you could say that they probably had a right to be. Although, a lot were glory hunters, they didn't get in others faces like the Leeds or Arsenal fans I knew.
